Nerd and Geek World

This is another web series, this is one I really like as it's a comedy show that is focused on basically geeks and nerds, hence the title (ok, the title is slightly inaccurate as there is never a real fight between two factions, but what are you going to do). I really like this because it's focused on people like myself but in an actually positive and realistic light.

In a way this show is almost a slice of life show as it's very much about Nerds and Geeks doing their thing. That's pretty much it but that's a good thing. What I really like about the show is there is a slight unpredictable nature from its episodic format well ok not quite there is a bit of character development and continuity. Each of the episodes are something different as we see the nerds and geeks are always doing something different and sometimes strange. But this kind of makes the show funny but true as these are people that beat to a different drummer, see the world differently and do things differently which I can emphasize with because even I'm a person that beats to a different drummer.

I really like how their portrayed despite slightly exaggerated their somewhat down to earth, they feel like people that could possibly exist from what they say and do which is most of what I do. There are colorful characters whom are all unique and have personalities.

Apple is my favorite character as she's kind of like myself in real life. She's a girl on the shy side, a bit of an introvert, has an active imagination as she sometimes goes off into some daydreams, and is a bit of a writer/creative artist whom has some interesting ideas she just needs to find the courage to put herself out there to make them reality. There is also this little subplot on Apple having a crush in the character Matt but is having trouble acting on those feelings, yeah, we've all been there where there is always someone that were attracted to that seems unattainable but really is if we only walk up and say something to them. But what I really love about her is that she is a person that has a lot to offer the world and she truly is full of surprises, which makes he continually interesting as in each episode we discover something new about her.

But my other favorite character is Becca as she is the most aggressive, which makes her have some of the best lines in the show. I just love that she's a person that isn't afraid to express her anger or whatever she feels. Though she's not in the show that much which I'll admit is one weak point of the show.

There are some memorable episodes like the Dungeons and Dragons episode it's funny seeing and hearing some of the dialog, but also seeing Matt lose his cool a little with that idiot Stephane mucking things up. The highlight of the episode is when Apple brings up Luke Skywalker and there is this huge debate about where certain characters in "Star Wars" would stand in an RPG which was awesome and cracked me up at the same time because those are good questions as "Star Wars" is also a fantasy. Though sort of ironic as a year or two latter the franchise started to have RPG games of its own. Though I also liked some of that beginning when we saw two characters in the show play a boxing video game based on Irish boxing in the 1800's (the one with no gloves). Even though that game doesn't exist, it feels like one that could, and I wouldn't be surprised if one day it does.

My favorite is the season finale which is Laser Tag which was awesome as I love the game and seeing this episode made me want to go out and play. It is just hilarious seeing how each of the group are just getting carried away with the game, just kicking the opposing teams ass and kind of playing dirty as they are doing things you normally shouldn't do in a laser tag game which makes it no so much a game more like a massacre, kind of reminds of the Rugby match scene in "Monty Python Meaning of Life" which was also more a brutal massacre than a game.

The only bad things about the show are the character Stephane I found her kind of annoying. Though maybe that's the point of her character as she's a total wanabe that really has no business being with the group. She also is and sometimes states is a science teacher (of elementary school) yet doesn't know jack squat about science (let alone much about life) that makes me wonder how the hell she could be qualified to teach. She a person that tries to get into geek/nerd culture but never succeeds not just because she doesn't get it but is simply an idiot. As a saying goes "If you don't get it, don't like it, don't try it."

Another problem is the dialog, it's not quite that memorable. There is a lack of clever lines that don't really grab me, or I actually laugh whole hardly to, or even love to quote. Dialog in the show isn't bad, it's actually pretty good but I honestly feel could be better, needs more oomph.

Last this never had a second season, which really sucks because I was looking forward to seeing more antics they would get into, but oh well. Overall, this is a solid web series like any of the games in geek and nerd subculture is worth trying out.
