Good -- and pointless
Karl Self26 May 2013
AJ Moorehead bears an uncanny resemblance to the late (i. e. dead) Bill Hicks, and is here seen in an almost live-on-tape recreation of Bill Hicks' programme. To Moorehead's credit, I couldn't believe that this was not the real Bill Hicks I was seeing, until he mentioned Carly Rae Jepsen (a pop starlet who surfaced about 20 years after Hicks' death). To Hicks' credit, he had much better comedic timing (and usually a greater audience), his jokes fired like firecrackers.

Whether you're a Bill Hicks fan or you've never heard of him, you might well want to check out AJ Moorehead's show when he's in town. Since various videos of Bill Hicks' performances exist, there is no good reason why you should watch the recreation when you can have the original.

Bill Hicks Lives

One of the best movies I have ever seen. Hilarious every minute. The acting is phenomenal, his comedic timing is impeccable. Such a great selection of Bill's work. I laughed, I cried, I watched it again. This was such an incredible tribute to Bill Hicks, I'm sure Bill would love this. Man I loved it I just can't explain it in words, it is a movie you have to see! I couldn't stop bellyaching so my wife came into the room and was like, "What are you laughing at?" And I said, "Bill Hicks Lives!" She started watching with me and loved every minute of it. We've watched the movie 3 times since I first found it online. I would recommend this movie to anyone who likes to laugh, it was an instant classic for me. Anyone who liked Bill Hicks in the slightest will love this movie. Who is this guy? Why haven't we heard of him before? I hope he makes another movie!

I just can't like this. You're not convincing as him in your speech, your delivery of his GENIUS jokes and lastly... I really hate to tell you this: YOU DO NOT LOOK LIKE BILL HICKS! OK?! Okay... I could play him better myself. In fact I'd love to play him and make a film myself ACTUALLY as a biopic and not some horribly thrown together nonsense.

I'd consider sticking to the auditions on crappy TV shows like I've seen you've been up to. That's your best bet. I'm not sure you even understand Hicks as a person man. The title alone is absolutely stupid and also offensive to people like Kevin Booth, his best friend as well as his mother and family. 20 years after his death roughly you get a wild hair up your ass that you're going to do this?! BS and you and I and everyone else here knows it. At least the movie is so bad that it's FREE and available in GLORIOUS 360p video quality. Wow.

Good material doesn't necessarily make you funny

Listening to this guy (AJ Moorehead) butcher Bill's material was depressing for me. Bill Hicks was hilarious. His jokes were funny ... when he was the one performing them. Unlike other reviewers I instantly knew that this guy is not Bill Hicks, and not just from his appearance ... the way he timed the jokes was off. The edge that Bill Hicks put into his performances was entirely gone. This guy is way to well adjusted to the state of affairs to be trying to ape Bill Hicks. Bill Hicks was not well adjusted ... a lot of his social commentary had a hint (often more than a hint) of rage in it and rightly so IMHO. AJ Moorehead will never be able to do even a decent imitation of Bill Hicks until and unless he gets acquainted with the anger and frustration Bill expressed so well.
