An excellent conclusion.

Two on duty Police Officers stop a car, where Peter Sutcliffe is in his car with a prostitute.

I've thoroughly enjoyed this series, and I am so glad to see that it ends on a real high. This was an excellent final episode.

We learn how Sutcliffe was caught, you'll ask the question, was it efficient Policing, or a lucky break? What was interesting, the recriminations, I can only imagine how much animosity existed among some of those on the case, plenty of anger and frustration.

Mark Stobbart bears an uncanny resemblance to Peter Sutcliffe, it's quite shocking how much he looks like him.

The video clips at the end were truly interesting, and helped add a degree of reality yonit, How sad to see that Sonia McCann took her own life, what a tragic waste.

Staggering it went on for so long.

9/10.

Episode 7

The final episode departs more from similar dramas such as This Is Personal: The Hunt for the Yorkshire Ripper.

It deals with the aftermath of Peter Sutcliffe getting caught. It was South Yorkshire police who arrested Sutcliffe after stopping him at a red light district in Sheffield.

It also deals with sinister hoaxer John Humble, also known as Wearside Jack. He wasted valuable police time and maybe delayed the arrest of Sutcliffe himself.

The drama is once again cack when dealing with police incompetence. DSI Dick Holland (Steven Waddington) goes all guns blazing at one detective who interviewed Sutcliffe at his home. Not realising that he was talking to the Ripper. The detective tells Holland that Sutcliffe was interviewed by the police multiple times. Holland reacts that it was news to him. This is something he would have already known.

It was clumsy writing with Holland saying 'watch your mouth.' The detective should have given him both barrels for constantly telling everyone to look out for a Geordie accent.

Oldfield got promoted but he saw it as a demotion. At the end he was very ill and whatever system he had, did not seem to work. Chief Constable Gregory was paid handsomely for the newspaper serial rights of his memoirs. He had banned his officers for speaking to the press. The victims families called it blood money.
