- Martin's a thoughtful guy. Maybe a bit too thoughtful. Starting out at university means that he's going to have to rethink a few things.
- The Real Thing is coming of age teen comedy short film about a first year university student and his relationship with his imaginary companion/delusion, a sexy half naked girl inside a poster on his wall that serves as a girlfriend. The story follows Martin as he gets exposed to a whole new social world when arriving to Uni as a fresher and how the relationship with his Poster Girl delusion which in a previous time served to reassure him now keeps him away from the possibility of real social life.
After having been invited to join a group of his peers he defies the attention hungry poster girl as she becomes more possessive, jealous and undermining while he contemplates opening himself to other possibilities, more specifically Susie, a sweet looking girl that lives on the same floor; but as things started looking up for him an overblown mishap just as they were starting to get acquainted causes him to retreat back into his fantasy relationship. A subsequent encounter with his new love interest gives him new hope and the strength for deciding to end things with the poster girl fantasy, thus giving her away and moving on.
