[This story contains spoilers from the premiere of AHS: Delicate.]
Little was known about how American Horror Story would twist Danielle Valentine’s novel to fit the mold of the veteran FX anthology until it made its debut. Now, season 12 of Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk’s hit horror series has released its first episode (and will now roll out weekly) and has revealed to its devoted audience the plot of the fertility body-horror season, along with the role Kim Kardashian will be playing alongside returning AHS star Emma Roberts.
AHS: Delicate is the first-ever season in the franchise to be adapted from a book, Valentine’s Delicate Condition. It’s also the first to have a sole showrunner with playwright Halley Feiffer. The creative team, per usual and amid the ongoing dual Hollywood strikes, shared very little about the season ahead of time, except to say that the story is inspired by the novel which has been called a...

San Francisco, Aug 18 (Ians) Apple has released new software updates for iPhones, iPads and Macs to fix two security vulnerabilities known by the tech giant to be actively exploited by attackers.
The two vulnerabilities were found in WebKit, the browser engine that powers Safari and other apps, and the kernel, essentially the operating system’s core. The two flaws affect iOS, iPadOS and macOS Monterey, report TechCrunch.
The tech giant said the WebKit bug could be exploited if a vulnerable device accessed or processed “maliciously crafted web content (that) may lead to arbitrary code execution”.
While the second bug allowed a malicious application “to execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges”, which means full access to the device. The two flaws are believed to be related, the report said.
Some successful exploits, such as powerful nation-state spyware, use two or more vulnerabilities in conjunction to break through a device’s layers of protections.

San Francisco, June 13 (Ians) As Apple iPadOS 15 is gaining almost all of the new features that were introduced in iOS 15, there are also several updates that Apple introduced that are designed exclusively for the larger screen of the iPad or have been adopted from iOS 14.
Widgets can now be placed anywhere on the iPad's Home Screen, and technically this doesn't count as an iPadOS feature because it's something that Apple is bringing over from iOS, reports MacRumors.
In iPadOS 14, users could have a set spot for your widgets, but with iPadOS 15, one can put them anywhere, just like you can on the iPhone.
App Library is another new feature that was introduced on the iPhone first and it's a useful change that lets you see and manage all of the apps you have installed on your iPad in one spot.
Multitasking is an iPad exclusive and it's been improved...

New Delhi, June 8 (Ians) After introducing the App Tracking Transparency and privacy nutrition labels on the App Store, Apple has expanded its privacy-focused approach to another level with new protections in iOS 15, iPadOS 15, macOS Monterey, and watchOS 8, which help users better control and manage access to their data.
In the Mail app, the new ‘Mail Privacy Protection' stops senders from using invisible pixels to collect information about the user.
The new feature helps users prevent senders from knowing when they open an email, and masks their IP address so it can't be linked to other online activity or used to determine their location, the company said during its flagship WWDC21 developer conference late on Monday.
"Privacy has been central to our work at Apple from the very beginning," said Craig Federighi, Apple's senior vice president of Software Engineering.

Into the Woods: A Creature Was Lurking in Heller’s Rudimentary Sophomore Film
If it’s nifty poetic title manages to reel you in, you’ll discover a much less memorable narrative at play in Jack Heller’s sophomore effort, Dark Was the Night (if the title sounds familiar, you may be thinking of the 2013 indie Cold Was the Night with Bryan Cranston or the gospel blues song by Blind Willie Johnson). A creature feature filled with familiar scary techniques melded to tangential familial stressors, Tyler Hisel’s screenplay (a writer making a jump from found footage to traditional thriller narratives following the South African flick Safari, 2013) feels rather primitively conceived. A mysterious, mythical beast is unleashed in the woods while the rural townsfolk become terrified as animals disappear and the body count mounts, and the unloved outsider sheriff must contend with stopping the creature from decimating a community...

Contrary to what some filmmakers would like you to believe, life in Africa is not all wilderness, famine, war, disease, and hungry animals. That's why I cringe whenever I hear of projects like director Darrell Roodt's found-footage South Africa-set film, Safari. The tagline for Safari is "This Is Africa." [Insert side-eye Here] As an African himself, who has done film and TV which better represent South African life specifically (Sarafina, Cry, The Beloved Country, Room 9), I'm surprised at Roodt for this one. The main problem I have with this project is that it reinforces a perception that far too many people have of what Africa is-- a tourist attraction full of wild animals...

In the world's never-ending quest to confuse us as much as possible, two new horror flicks are under way with the same title, Safari. The good news? They couldn't be more different. Read on for the details regarding both of them.
Last week Bloody Disgusting dropped the news that Safari, a found-footage thriller, was gearing up to start shooting on October 15th in Johannesburg, South Africa. Directed by Academy Award nominee Darrell Roodt (Little One, Yesterday) and written by Dark Was The Night scribe Tyler Hisel, the pedigree is right for this one to be a cut above.
That film “centers on a band of American tourists, stranded and hunted in the heart of the South African wilderness. Their struggle to survive the elements and the vicious predators lurking the African plain is documented by the video cameras meant to record their vacation.” Rocky Myers (Vamp U) and Kim Argetsinger...

South African filmmaker Darrell Roodt (also the director of Winnie - the Jennifer Hudson Winnie Mandela film) has signed on to direct a found-footage thriller that will be set in South Africa - Johannesburg specifically, from a script penned by an American screenwriter, Tyler Hisel, titled Safari. The film will center on a group of American tourists stranded in the "South African wilderness," as the synopsis states, and will star Rocky Myers, Kim Argetsinger, Chloe Kirby and Robert Watkins; none of them is black, by the way, as I'm sure you're wondering. And by the way, professional animal trainer-behaviorist Kevin Richardson has been tapped to...
