Can Mordred be trusted?
marcgreenman25 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This is the question which remained in my mind throughout the entire episode: what exactly is mordred up to, and what is going to happen? we know that merlin has had a vision prophesying that mordred will slay arthur, but will this actually come true as it was foretold? mordred appears to show a different side by helping arthur and merlin and not killing either of them when he might have done, but is this merely a ruse to get inside camelot where he can cause much greater damage? there was plenty of excitement in this story and i cannot wait to see how it all turns out. the episode has plenty of drama, action and spectacle. other questions: guinevere has turned bad and wants to execute a traitor without mercy, exactly as uther would have done, surely a terrible decision or two is going to occur here. arthur pledged that the druids would never be harmed again and was forgiven for his part in a massacre, now we see at least two druids involved in his story one of whom is clearly working against him and the other we don't know yet. morgana is starting to look extremely lucky when it comes to cheating death, when will her luck finally run out? revenge seems to be the hidden theme of the episode. will merlin or arthur perhaps do something to make mordred turn against them, causing their own fate? the glowing being in the mine was very interesting, although it seemed almost like a random introduction. will he be reappearing later on?

Poor effects

A decent storyline was far overshadowed by poor effects, the cgi on both creatures was laughably bad, and Gaius... that wig?!

Disapointing
ForceofSU11 October 2020
By now you are probably used to "part 2" containing irrational decisions and unrealistic results two or three times more than a regular episode. This episode does not let down the tradition of "Merlin" with two part episodes and even takes it to the next level, finding new ways to be disapointing.
