Too slow.
CJWar5 December 2022
Not only does the story move at a glacial pace, the action moves just as slow. Every move looks over-choreographed and lands so slowly it looks like it does no damage. Not only that but even when the main character's life is threatened, he rarely does any permanent damage to his opponents. He leaves random drunks with more bruises than those responsible for his friend's death. It completely breaks immersion.

Overall, the story itself isn't a bad one and the film could've been an entertaining if unmemorable action flick if some sort of action coach had been hired and a script editor hired to remove the cheesy, recycled lines from old kung-fu movies. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case and it instead ended up disappointingly average.

It started off good and interesting.
Top_Dawg_Critic27 November 2022
Then it just became another 80's Karate Kid-type film we've all seen many times before - from the 80's and 90's. The fight scenes were too many and too boring, and the entire story had every cliche you can imagine. There were probably as many plot holes as there were fight scenes, and the entire story had nothing new to offer for this genre as it was entirely predictable. The romance scenes were cheesy and sappy as well. Plus it got tiresome glorifying the lead actor as some tough-guy - almost as if he wrote the story to make himself an action star, which was unconvincing from the start. The normally comfortable 101 min felt dragged out with all the cliched and predictable scenes, even though it had decent pacing. Perhaps in the hands of a better director and more convincing lead, I may have given it an extra point or two, but as was, not offering anything new to the genre, it's a very generous 6/10 from me - mostly because it was an international Polish and non-Hollywood film that was still watchable, one time.

Greater than the sum of its parts
tkdlifemagazine25 November 2022
A decent low budget martial arts film coming out of Poland. The total is greater than the sum of its parts as the script about undercover teachers trying to break up a drug ring at a school is not that believable. The Characters, too, very cartoonish. The direction and cinematography are very 1980's and low budget. Predictable. However, it works pretty well for what it is. The cast is watchable. The star is believable as a broken undercover cop trying to make good on a failure to his deceased friend. The actress that plays the lead female teacher is very good. The fighting is plentiful and decent. It has heart, for sure.

Dumpster fire of cringe cliches
lexical-6225326 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I didn't have the highest hopes for Lesson Plan, but I though "how bad can it be?" It turns out, really bad. Lesson Plan is a cookie cutter movie revolving around fight scenes, alot of fight scenes... a ridiculous amount of fight scenes. Examples of reasons for prolonged fights against multiple bad guys at once include drug bust, defending female in an underground parking garage, defending females in a bar... and the list goes on and on and on. He can't sleep with his co-worker because he has a flashback of his dead wife, loses her but gets her back of course. The chemistry teacher walking around in a white coat with a tray full of test tubes makes it very obvious he is making the drugs, and the principal is obviously the leader based on the first interaction they have. It seems like this movie was lazily made by inserting names and cliches into a script that made no attempt to create twists or suspense. One word that sums up this movie is "Cliche", and if streaming didn't exist this would be a straight to DVD movie with a 3.99 price tag.

Polish "Blackboard Jungle"
gpxdlr26 November 2022
I think the director viewed Glenn Ford's Blackboard Jungle and had a great idea. Why not make a Polish version? Gee, great idea, he says. No one will know I plagiarize a few ideas from the film. The teens in Poland are like teens everywhere who involve themselves in drugs and crime. Jungle was made in 1955 and 67 years passes and we have the Polish version. OMG! Unless you have an hour or so to waste, don't bother with this. The fight scenes are choreographed badly and might make you laugh. If you can find B/J, view it but remember it is a 1950's film and in b&w. Also Sidney Portiere(sic) first role in Hollywood and he is a okay.

a bad ripoff of The Substitute
brainwerx-115 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The Substitute was a mediocre movie starring Tom Berenger. Even back when that movie came out it was full of stereotypes, bad acting, all the usual cliches about drugs and gangs and how members of the faculty etc. Etc. Etc.

My point is that this movie is just a bad version of an already mediocre movie. The fights are just bad. The choreography is ok, but wow! These guys are really slow, or they didn't know what they were doing. The bulk of the punches, even between the good guys and bad guys (again, terribly predictable) were just horrible. Add to all of that the lead 'actors' 'acting' and it really is not worth it. It got to the point where I was hoping for either the movie to end or everybody get killed.

The substitute
kosmasp4 January 2023
No pun intended - not sure if this took one movie in particular and said that is the blueprint we want to use. But the movie itself is quite predictable .. it also seems to have no surprises when it comes to characters ... and developments if you want to call them that. But if you like action movies ... and don't care about story or plot a lot ... well you could do worse.

The movie is also easy and takes the easy (hard hitting, no pun intended) way most of the time. The ending is also quite convenient ... when it comes to positioning ... but if you have an issue with that falling down on you ... well you didn't really like anything that came before it either. It is a B-Movie action film from Poland ... there are far worse things out there ... there are far better things too ... overall it is a decent effort in my eyes.

Lesson Plan Review
jmendoza-2547627 November 2022
What takes away from this film immediately, is the poor choice in music. There has been an increase in opting for this type of music, across many mediums and platforms and it lowers the quality of the films.

Rock, Hard rock, would be more appropriate. Or any other kind of music rather than what was selected. I was really looking forward to the film. Within the first minute, and within first ten minutes the choice remains the same, causing me to simply have to pause the film. To all producers of film, please choose something else- the audience is not impressed by such a choice. You put in a lot of hard work to have it tainted with such low class music.

A good Saturday night revenge thriller
gburrows7113 December 2022
I enjoyed this. The main character, Damian, is believable and sympathetic, plus we feel sorry for him because his wife was murdered by some really serious bad guys. The baddies in this film are suitably loathsome, the love interest is cute and we are encouraged to root for the good guys from the word go. The high school setting is convincing, the locations are dark and threatening and everything generally goes the way we want. Not cinematic history but a good thriller with a different setting from most. I can see where the comparisons with Reacher come from but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Watchable and satisfying, once you've had a drink or two.

Hurry...

"Lesson Plan" is an Action - Drama movie in which we watch an ex-cop investigating his friend's death while working as a teacher. His main goal is to find out what happened and his friend died but also who is responsible for his death.

I enjoyed this movie because it had a nice, simple plot that contained plenty of action and suspense and at the same time some plot twists that I did not expect. The interpretation of Piotr Witkowski who played as Damian Nowicki was very good and he made the difference. The direction which was made by Daniel Markowicz was simple and he presented his main character very well, something that made possible for the audience to relate to him and follow him on his risky quest. Finally, I have to say that "Lesson Plan" is an interesting action movie to spend your time with.

You like fistfights, if you like mma, mda and fentanyl en gross, then watch this polish actionthriller called ''lesson plan'' ,an easier title to prononcuate than the polish one.

Its about a school infected with lethal drugs, its gangs vs gangs vs a teacher, which is quite similar to ''class of 1984'', just not so gory and bloody, but there might be some inspiration suckled from that film.

Anyway , a man wants revenge for the killing of his wife, and infiltrates the community of druglords, actually not the usual kind of lords, even though they have loads of power in their environment, and the high school is a real good breadbox or coverup, youll see if you watch.

An extremely actionfilled narc drama with nonstop highfives and elecric boogaloo, not nescessarely the best script and story, but plotted in an actionfilled, and overall visually dark manner. So let the fair and square win, its easy to see, just how hardcore it is i wont tell, but a recommend from the grumpy old man.

A nod to 90's "schoolplotation" movies.
garneragency2 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
(I'm pretty sure I made that word up) lol Anyway, this movie is decent. You can tell that it took a lot of its ideas from movie's "The substitute", "Higher Learning" and "The Principal." Either way, the fighting in this is okay and so is the acting.

Fighting: Tons of fights in this movie. I'm shocked the dude doesn't have broken hands with all the fights he has in a day.

Some fights look good and others sloppy and slow.

Characters: I wish they would have built up more of the main protagonist relationship with his wife. I say this because his wife dies early on in the film but I don't really care since, I have know idea what kind of person she was.

If you're a fan of 90's B rated action films. Give this a watch.

Also watch the substitute movies. I think there's 4 or 5 of them. Lol.

I Mean it's Ok...
Allaboutfall20 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I think this movie really tried. The problem was the movie was so slow; after the 23rd - 36th martial arts fight where no one really gets taken down, knocked out, or killed, I just used the time as an excuse to open mail, change out laundry, and basically do anything to not be subjected to another fight scene.

The dubbing was subpar, but then again I don't think I've seen a foreign film that had great dubbing anyway. The dubbing was cheesy and stilted, making the conversations awkward at times, or overly acted.

That he's supposed to be a History teacher, I don't recall any real history lessons at all, just him unnecessarily teaching his class martial arts. Why no one at the school noticed an entire room of students was rarely ever in the classroom is unbelievable.

Is the movie bad? Hmmm, I think if you have nothing else to watch it's a time killer, but I wouldn't recommend it as your go-to for an evening of action packed, keep your riveted, eyes glued to the TV kind of movie.

He's no Jason Bourne.

a good action film
LetsReviewThat2624 November 2022
This was just simply a good action movie. One that netflix added thats actually good. I quite enjoy the dubbed movies they put out especially if the action is there and the acting is good. Luckily they were and it was a pretty good film. Its all about this man who becomes a teacher after someone dies that was involved in drugs. He notices the students and even ends up teaching them how to fight as a way of sticking up for their selfes. The school is a bit of a problem one. But anyway theres quite a bit of good action with some fighting skills thrown in. The acting was alright and there was a good mix of intense parts and some romance. Overall an enjoyable movie.

Cliches, plot craters, and you've def seen this movie before
ptchase20 February 2023
This movie is the epitome of a cliche factory. School full of supervillains, teaching kids to stand up for themselves, women getting all hot and bothered cuz a guy defended their life, drugs are SUPER evil, fight scenes near electrical wires that will clearly end with the bad guy getting kicked into the wires...just, all of them.

BUT...who really cares? Saw reviewers giving this a 1 and 2, really? This is a clear cut sign someone has never truly seen a 1 or 2 star movie. Me? I managed to sit at least 50-60% through Insane Clown Posse's "Big Money Rustlas" (I don't even like ICP) and I watched all of "Money Plane", which is closer to a 1 or 2 star movie than this could ever hope to be. I'd still give it like, a 3 though.

What you are actually watching is the closest thing I've seen to a live action anime/comic book film set in Poland. I've watched very few Polish films/shows (so none of these actors are recognizable) and I'm awful with faces, but lucky for me, every single bad guy is distinctively designed from the rest of the cast...from primary bad guys to the randoms he fights, like the striped polo gang in the bar. Every issue can be solved with a fist fight, the main character just happens to show up at every location/scene they're needed at that time, and the bad guys only ever bring as much back-up as is completely necessary at the time, super convenient.

If you are looking for a movie that is going to make you think, make you ponder hard truths, and blah blah blah...this is not for you. PLENTY of those out there as every camera comes with a soapbox these days, but this is great for about 90ish (without credits) minutes of entertainment. I'd rate it a generous 7 but the action scenes lack impact...which, you'd think would be the only thing they'd definitely get right, but, alas.

Enjoyable action, entertaining
sandir-3299826 February 2023
Okay, so this one is not a big Hollywood production, action film. Sometimes my husband and I get a bit tired of the same old Hollywood theme and filming production. We have been enjoying films from Poland, Norway and England and other European productions. We enjoyed this film, the actors along with the action. The story was a good story and entertained us throughout. We found ourselves interested in just how some issues were going to get resolved. We knew the main actor was in it to "finish it" but we were still interested in how and when and the length of the movie was perfect. Sometimes you just need to sit back and enjoy a movie for the movie's sake.
