The show is far from an elite comedy these days, but even a throwaway episode like this feels far better than The Conners we were getting just last season.
The best thing about comedies is that they can take something very throwaway and that is not a big deal at all like protecting a new couch and give you a half hour of content related to it.
Definitely a simple and effective premise and it feels like the writers have gotten their act together. The Conners is never going to be Emmy-worthy, but it is not the headache it once was to get through. I guess that you have to take the wins whereever you can get them.
