Exclusive: The international boss of ITN Productions (Itnp), the production outfit behind Prince Harry: The Interview, has detailed scripted ambitions including a desire to make a show that breaks free from its factual-led comfort zone.
ITN produces the ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 news in the UK but has built up a mini production powerhouse over the past few years, making hundreds of hours of fast-turnarounds, documentaries, and factual entertainment shows including for major streamers, while broadening its U.S. offering. Itnp has now entered the scripted space, unveiling its debut drama, Cush Jumbo-starring Lifetime movie Girl in the Video, late last week.
Ian Russell, who runs the international operation, described the scripted move as a “natural evolution” for the near-15-year-old production outfit, which feels “incremental and comfortable.”
The plan had been in the offing for a while, building on Itnp’s success in the true crime and royal game.

The Crown rose to the top of the streaming charts for Nov. 14-20 — despite falling off in total viewing time from the previous week. The final season of Dead to Me brought that series into the rankings, and Peacock had two titles on the board for the first time.
The Crown led Nielsen’s weekly rankings with 1.78 billion minutes viewed, a 16 percent drop from the 2.13 billion minutes it logged a week earlier. The debut of the show’s fifth season hasn’t brought the Netflix drama to the heights it hit in season four, when its first two weeks of release combined for 5.57 billion minutes vs. 3.91 billion this time around.
Dead to Me finished second overall with 1.39 billion minutes of viewing the week of its third and final season premiere on Nov. 17. It edged out Manifest (1.28 billion), which fell by 44 percent week to week.

British producer ITN, best known for producing news programming for major U.K. broadcasters, has rebranded for the first time in decades, signalling plans to expand the brand more robustly from its legacy news and factual heartland into sports, education and branded content.
Founded in 1955, ITN has built a reputation for producing independent journalism by providing news programs, current affairs series and digital services across ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5. In recent years, it has become known for other non-fiction efforts such as the Oscar-nominated documentary “For Sama,” Netflix series “Ancient Apocalypse” and Prime Video true crime doc “The Confession.”
The new brand positioning, narrative and visual identity has been headed up by agency partners Rudd Studio and Undivided. It replaces ITN’s famous static logo from the 1970s — one of the longest-standing logos in British broadcasting — with a new animated logo that responds to its environment. The new...

The Duffer brothers were there to discuss the fifth and final season of Stranger Things, whichis currently in development.
“The success of season one freaked us out and then we knew we needed to build up this bigger world, that this was going to be ongoing. But it was way too much — [five times] more ideas than we needed, or [10 times],” said Ross.
“For season five, we’re pulling from a lot of those big season two ideas… A lot of our big ending stuff has pulled from stuff that we thought was going to be in season two,” he revealed.

There are two very different sides to Netflix. On the one hand, there’s the glitz: the prestige-laden films by venerated directors (Roma; The Irishman; The Power of the Dog). The glossy hit series like Stranger Things or Squid Game. But then there’s the other stuff. Just as crucial to Netflix’s business model – perhaps more crucial – is the streamer’s extensive catalogue of less reputable material. From salacious true crime docs to paranormal investigation series, Netflix is teeming with programmes that fall somewhere between being knowingly pulpy and outright schlock. In a climate where new streaming services seem to launch every few months, adding to the competition and cutting into Netflix’s non-original content catalogue, it’s natural that Netflix would turn to whatever gets people watching. So when a programme like Ancient Apocalypse drops on the streaming service, you might be inclined to think it’s all just business as usual.

Ancient Apocalypse is a Netflix doc series featuring Graham Hancock‘s searches for evidence of past evolved civilizations, going as far back as the last Ice Age.
It offers us eight episodes, with the sporadic appearances by Joe Rogan, and a score that is meant to increase the engagement of the audience, given that good old dry archeology might lead the viewers to fall asleep.
About the Series
Based on his hypothesis that there might have been an evolved civilization during the Ice Age, Graham Hancock ventures to various locations around the world to investigate archeological sites. He takes us to Indonesia, Mexico, Malta, the Bahamas (in search of Atlantis), Turkey, Poverty Point in Louisiana (US), Cappadocia (Turkey), and Washington.
The series is narrated by Hancock himself. In the ‘Ancient Apocalypse’ series expect a fast tempo score that evokes the mysterious, suspenseful feel, and then the feeling of an imminent...
