This movie show perfect musical and act but the direction of movie makes it look terrible but this movie has the power. But it can be better after the this movie, movie named wonderful life (Korean) show ability of Korean musical movies and this movie also show it. I am not think Korean musical movie is good but it can be developed. This director makes movie terribly sad but it change . Only Hollywood musical movie can direct nicely before, but this director change my mind. Thank you for changing my mind JK Yoon, but your directing style will be change when you see this write, please,please change it!

The movie was based on a stage play telling the story of how a group of Korean independence fighters plan to assassinate a Japanese general of Korea. I came to watch it because of the character Seol-Hee is played by Kim Go-Eun who I am a big fan of. She plays a court lady who after seeing the queen assassinated becomes a geisha to exact revenge on the general. She was said to be unhappy with her performance but I was really impressed as the director expected them to act the scene as well as sing live. The star of the show is Jung Sung-hwa who plays An Jung-geun a leader in the independence movement, he is a musical actor and I believe he also played the lead in the stage version. Also in the cast is Park Jin-joo who I really wish could get a starring role instead of support as she always puts in an excellent performance and also has a beautiful voice.

Ggone for Seolhee is perfect fit eventho the Director can pick others with musical backgroud but she's really in another level. Bcs for Seolhee she really need to portray that specific heavy emotions & expressions. And only Ggone get that quality top nortch!
With Jung Kyung-hwa, Kim Go-eun & Na Moon-hee all in their top form, director JK Youn (Yoon Je-kyoon) has again proved his incredible talent as an all-rounder director.

Best Korean musical movie ever. We don't have to question about the casts acting, and they all sang perfectly beautifully. Every numbers (songs) tug my heart and I'm bawling on every Seolhee & Jung Sunghwa numbers too. But it also added some humor in between. My fave new number Dusik Mandu! 1000/10 from me.
For me just a little bit of lack CGI but it doesn't effect the greatness of what this movie want to show us, the transition from one scene to each scene very smooth, I'm surprised kimgoeun sings so so well. Na moonhee last scene piercing my heart sobss. Please give much love to Hero. Many of the scene left speechless for me and keep playing in my head.

The movie improves on the stage musical of Ahn's life by showing things like battles and fights. The production is grand and exciting. The different resistance characters are quite clearly defined and you get to feel for them. It reminded me of the excellent Anthropoid about the Czech resistance who killed Hangman Heydrich.
This movie needed to be made and seen by many because the Japanese Government official line is not apologetic for Ito's actions in Korea or China. They think his death was an act of terrorism. In Germany any one would get in trouble for praising ww2 nazi war criminals. But in Japan they honor those who murdered millions.
Can't wait for Harbin the non musical version of the hero's life starring Hyun Bin.

The movie "Hero" is about Ahn Jung-geun's last year and is adapted into a musical film based on the existing hero musical. - Ahn Jung-geun (2 September 1879 - 26 March 1910) was an independence activist, anti-Japanese military commander, and political thinker of the Korean Empire. - There is no doubt in the lineup of the cast of the movie hero, and not only the singing skills but also the acting are good actors... ... .
