The episode was rather dull and unpleasant despite finally developing a character as underutilized as Christina.
The worrying thing about this episode is that Christina wanders around the hospital drunk, seeking help from Abishola because apparently she was fired for having had a sexual encounter with one of her subordinates. Yes, because as we saw previous in the same episode, Jared reported her to HR for a power play.
First of all, it's absurd that HR would fire someone for having a consensual relationship; something even Christina's own mother, Dottie, mentions in this episode. But how does this paint Jared in a good light? How does this help him get a better job? I doubt after what he reported, he'll get Christina's job. Anyway, that's a separate issue.
The main problem is that, truth be told, the encounter wasn't consensual. Jared approaches her at the restaurant where Christina was eating alone, clearly gets her drunk, and later we find them at Jared's place in his bed where she explicitly expresses that she didn't want to, feels repulsed by him, and regrets it. But apparently, he was sober enough to take her to his home?
It seems clear that Jared got her drunk to have sex with her and then report her, this seems like a classic planned rape! How is it possible that Christina was fired for this? She even mentions being labeled as a sexual predator on LinkedIn because of this incident. Shocking!
In the end, I think it's just a plot device by the writers to bring her back to the family company, but it's shameful how it's portrayed as if she's the one at fault.
Then she returns to the company as a janitor, which is also shameful because she was a good worker with good ideas that were stolen by Bob and other family members. This was why she left. But that's a separate issue again.
