The Good and the Bad of this Remake
clownscape5 February 2023
What I appreciate about this remake is the introduction of the caste system. It brings to light a menace that still remains prevalent in India. The show also lightly touches upon the sort of prejudice a Kashmiri Muslim has to face here. I've seen it happen myself. So, when a character says, "she doesn't even belong in this country," I remembered someone spewing those exact kind of poison. So, I found it quite relatable.

That said, I wish the makers had taken a greater effort to merge it with the way things are in India, rather than creating a fantastical portrayal in certain things. I don't know of a single institute in India where students can get away with using the sort of lingo that the students do here in front of the teachers. Good or bad, it just doesn't ring true. I would have appreciated a more realistic portrayal of the classroom rather than copying the Spanish culture in an Indian backdrop. It doesn't work that way.

Now, let's get to some of the real problems with this remake. When the initial trailer was released, the first thing I prayed that the writers would have the wisdom to not kill off Marina (Maria Pedraza) in the first season. I loved Anjali Sivaraman's acting in Cobalt Blue and was sure she would do justice here as well. And she did that in Suhani's role. She was absolutely brilliant in the scene where she's apologizing to Dheraj for the things she has done. I felt that Marina's (Suhani's) character had potential for more nuanced exploration if she was kept alive in the first season, if someone else had taken the fall instead of her in that random encounter at the end. And now, I find no reason to at all cae for a second season. Let me tell you why.

Firstly, where Elite excelled is having an excellent cast, especially that of Carla (Ester Exposito). She was another fantastic actress. And following the romantic subplot between. Carla and Samuel was quite interesting. Naina Bhan as Koel Kalra doesn't have the same X-factor for me. (Sorry!) And seeing that the makers are following the plot of the original verbatim, I know that's where we'll be going. (I loved Madhyama Segal as Saba Manzoor and Gurfateh Pirzada as Neeraj, though.) Now, these are, of course, my personal preferences. Others may feel differently about the casting. But let's come to the real problem.

Spanish TV series have a long tradition of actors leaving the show midway for other projects. So is true for Elite. We have seen some of the most loved characters leave the show with some laughably made-up excuses. Now, even if Netflix greenlights this show for later seasons, what will the makers of Class do? Ask their actors to pack their bag and leave, just because their Spanish counterparts did the same? Seeing that the writers have zero originality as far as the plot of the series is concerned, I'm really not feeling quite upbeat about its future.

In gist, Class could have encashed upon so much unitilized potential that Elite had for its later seasons that got buried under some poor storytelling choices in the first season. With some originality, Class could have done it so much better. But it's the same old same old. Even for people who liked the first season, I'm not quite sure if the show will be salvagable second season onward with its current choices. And one of the strongest reasons being, unlike Elite, they don't have a female lead to step into Anjali's shoes.

Headturner116 February 2023
As good as never would I ever or Blood and water but those are more Americanized if I dare say. Was this the greatest? No, but it was decently entertaining for the evening. Now I hope not only foreign shows come up as new releases( because it's all that has been coming up lately tho I've been into period pieces Jeez! 300 characters left! Not great but decent high school murder/ drama mystery. 200! Jeez. Not bad, not bad, not bad. Come on!!!!!!! Kept me entertained for the evening! OMG! 100. This is ridiculous! Decent watch for the evening! I'm not going to write reviews if this 600 character thing remains a thing!

If watched elite this is not for you!
priyanshinaredi10 February 2023
Elite has the exact story line the castism love sex planning and everything...honestly in my pov the series had very less side of india it was foreign culture shown to maintain the storyline . If you haven't watched elite yet definitely you will like storyline and if you have then you just gonna curse every scene realising about the bad acting. Another thing if you say is that bullies wouldn't like it but what i believe indian bully system is different from what is shown here. Delhi is beautifully expressed. Problems caused my higher ups in all are detailed but need less exaggeration. Class is sasta version of elite.

A mesmerizing blend of sophistication and raw passion - remake- i personally didn't expected that much quality in series but undoubtedly it's one the greatest series by India , at some point it even crossed the benchmark of Élite , Ashim Ahluwalia - man behind missile, i want more of you, when you watch series you can see what i am trying to say almost all of scene's are depicted out of so much love, a high notch sh+t with desi tadka, even though i watched Élite few year's back but it doesn't made feel like this i knew the storie, end but it had it's " Apana Effect " from storie - to cast : i would have loved original storie but it wasn't that bad, you can't complain about cast, "a young youth fueled with energy & talent " ,my fav Cwaayal aka bali. Piyush, anjali, gurfateh, Ayesha know their craft i hope netflix keep some of this good talent in their pool in term's of dialogue & lust and my overall overview : one thing i liked about it is that it had not overexerted dialogue and slang's to make it more cool, i personally felt that "Delhi Wala feel" and i was really happy with it, i loved all lust scene's and LGBTQ stuff, overall it is a teen drama mixed with emotion that tries to give you a fantasy high school experience, which sometime fails and sometime win's over should i watch : if you are high school kid or 40 year man women or whatever you like to call you should give a trie. If you are into teen drama or kdrama stuff 2. If you have already have watched Élite should i watch it ?

Yes or no , it mostly depends on you for me -i watched Élite like 2-3 year ago i had vivid memorie about show, i still knew there was a girl who dies and all that stuff , i stooped watching show after 4 season's so i don't cared about it that much, for CLASS - name " it's just a bad name look's cheap, i don't why but it look's " , i don't like last episode and i skipped few bite's of each episode , maybe it was boring or i knew what was going to happen, made me urge to skip.

That's a overall review.

Nice Bold and Beautiful high school drama and thriller, but....
robhoward-2562215 March 2023
....Netflix India, please include female nudity in the second season. Good to see the bold scenes and daring nudity from the boys. Hoping to see some boldness from girls too.

Though it couldn't be as bolder as Elite, Netflix India has dared to create a show with ensemble cast who are mostly newcomers and non-nepos and they look the part, instead of looking older than their characters.

Many viewers are upset that it's not realistic in Indian context. But I feel that such things might happen in the mega rich circle. And the adaptation to Indian setting is good. All the actors have performed well.

But cinematography could be a bit brighter. It almost feels like it was shot only when the clouds were in the sky.

Good show
movieeeeeeeeeeeeebuzz4 February 2023
The show is addictive. I finished it in two days. I haven't watched Elite so no comparison here. The show has shown the reality of class divide and casteism. The casting is fresh and we see so many new and talented faces. Actors who played Balli and dheeraj did an awesome job. Enjoyed the show overall but at the same time there are parts when one thinks this is not how India is or this is not how Indians behave, i think they made the exact copy and hence sometimes the essence of indian characters got lost and western influence was evident.. i hope we get to see more season of this show.. good job netflix.

TOTAL TIME WASTE!!
varunjain4215 February 2023
I've watched the original Spanish series Elite. And this is a very much failed attempt to make a Indian version of the parent series. Every character seems like struggling in their role. Don't know they got directions like that or they couldn't understand what an actual privileged child looks like. They were just trying to copy the original series which they should not in my opinion. It's because every nation has its own privileged people and they are different from each other. Spanish and Indian series should not be the same. We have different morals different culture, makers should have considered it. Maybe a different plot to reach the same destination would have worked. Apart from my opinion its definitely one time watch. But if you have watched the OG series then you will feel disappointed.

Desi Elite
virenjoshismpr4 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I can't judge it fairly and not sure whether I was suppose to anyway cuz I have watched elite and I was constantly comparing characters even the scenes bit by bit I was frustrated furious anxious and absolutely mad bonkers but I believe this adaptation is justified for indian audience now I'm worried how crazy they will go with newer installments (sequels) rebe cayetana mencia ari and many more Someone who has seen Elite knows how everything will progress but will the Indian version go to such lengths and risk controversial ban This is truly a guilty pleasure for current gen people I can't expect much from new debutant actors/actresses (acting is acceptable in my personal opinion as it did felt like most of them did as they were told to and possibly some scenes were improvised not gonna name who did them) but audience can watch for the plot/story.

Indian version of the Spanish Series " Elite"
qui_j4 February 2023
This is the " Made in India" version of the Spanish series " Elite". It's as if they took the original script and just changed the background country. The acting is fairly amateurish, with dialog intended to show the " Westernisation" of all the characters. There is intense overuse of the word "Dude". The editing is hopeless and viewer continuity non-existent. The scenes do not flow in a logical or sequential format to help tell the narrative in a meaningful manner. It really is a very poor copy of the original series and appears to have been cobbled together to capitalize on the success of the original. Many countries have their own version of this " over the top" teen drama, but this version is at the lower end of the rating scale.

Don't believe on reviews watch it yourself. Won't regret it.
ayushisachan-324315 February 2023
The show is actually great. Didn't had much expectations but this is actually fire🔥 . The Indian adaptation is (i think some would find it controversial) a little better than the original Elite. The story, the Characters, they seem to suit India more than Spain. Not that i am hating on the original show elite it's just most of the elite fans even this. This show is actually soo much better than my expectations or i think most of the peoples expectations. I hope this gets a season 2 cause this deserves it. The actors according to me did fantastic job in portraying there Characters and completely blends with them.

Seriously..
Beatrix_wind3 February 2023
Seriously....... all India does is duplicate movies and TV shows.

They already had Elite, and it is available in English as well.

It would be a waste of time and resources to repeat the entire process with new casting.........

Although I don't have anything against Indian filmmaking, I think a lot of people will agree that recently they have been copying everything from foreign flicks.

From my perspective, and I mean no offense, this is going to be a huge failure.

What else is there to say? Well, Elite seasons 1 and 2 were entertaining enough to watch, but after that, it becomes incredibly dull and makes no sense at all.

Bullies hate this because they saw themselves xD
dkyskcb6 February 2023
I see any reason why anyone would dislike the show unless they saw themselves in the bullies. The rating does not do justice to the brilliant masterpiece this show is. The storyline is gripping. Characters are reflection of society but the show isn't a trauma porn. Plot follows the storyline of elite but context is relatable. First episode could have been better but picked up fast second episode onwards. Veer and Neeru were brilliantly written characters with skewed morality and the actors did justice to their portrayals. Suhani and Neeru's storyline felt force fitted and Dheeraj was just there like a spectator post episode 3 which was tragic.

A desperate attempt to create divide!!
satyamraip3 February 2023
SHORT REVIEW- Watch the original Spanish series 'ELITE' instead of this show.

This webseries could have been a saviour for Netflix India.

After all, the makers had not much to do, because incase you don't know, this is not an original series, rather an adaptation of the Spanish series 'Elite'

But they have failed. It is nowhere near the parent series. The direction lacks passion and the show appears to be trying too hard to create some buzz.

Apart form the show being underwhelming for most of the time, the makers have failed badly to give justice to the theme of the show. Instead of sticking to the core theme ie. 'class divide', the show makes a very desperate attempt to turn it into a typical 'Upper Caste Vs Lower Caste' battle.

The Upper Caste in this show is represented by people who hate the poor, mock 'HIJAB' and trust h0rny spiritual leaders, alongwith other innumerous flaws.

The creators knew that the show is mostly gonna be watched by the youth and thus, used this opportunity to add political junk to our brains.

In a world where we should be healing our distances, 'CLASS' tries to create a divide amongst the viewers, using its outdated political narratives.

It's a mind blowing series. "Elite" adaptation but many people didn't see that series so i recommend to see this "Class" series.
theshubhthakre20 February 2023
Wow. This series is mind blowing. The storyline is so good. The presentation of this series is damn good. Background music boost up the scenes.

Their acting is absolutely remarkable. They performed so well that you can feel sad, anger ,hate and joy as well to see them because of their acting skills makes us feel them or to get attached to them. I loved this series because of their acting skills. I didn't expected at first that they perform like this. But they were absolutely amazing.

If you have watched Elite series, then still I'll recommend you to watch this series also because you cannot get this type of performance in any series.

Absolute Trash!!!!
piyushioswal7 February 2023
It was a pathetic attempt to showcase the upscale life of DELHI. Instead of dealing with issue of drug use and abuse the director wanted to make it the IT thing.. the second most obnoxious part of the series is that the director is trying to use all the current topics and is not able to justify them. If this is what the younger lot is heading to then i am sorry we have lost the culture and morality that we always stood for. There is no need to ape the western culture just for the heck of it . The plot the story and the theme could have been so much better..also with a strong message for gen zee.

The show is amazing
dfanpage3 February 2023
First off it's better than elite it has less sex scenes and it's overall i good show I hope Netflix doesn't cancel the show after one season I hope it gets loads more so we can see different characters .

The show overall is very good 10/10 I know it's not in Spanish but the Spanish version is good but has way to many sex scenes in , I mean I don't mind that but too much gets a bit boring .

This show surprised me in many ways the trailer looked very good 8 episodes is not that much so I hope they continue the show to see the characters and overall so we can see more elite content Spanish or not.

Pathetic show
puniasandeep-8096522 February 2023
Everything about the show is pathetic & super Boooring, they are not able to even copy the US version "Elite" properly.

Every important aspect screenplay, direction, acting, choice of actors, dialogues, production is pathetic.

10 minutes into the show and you can easily guess that director was in a hurry to complete the show and take his payments.

Most the cast and crew and from privileged background, so it was clear from the start that there understanding of the Indian culture and society is either ZERO or limited to the pin of a needle.

If Netflix India wants to win Indian audience they need to give chances to more diverse set of directors from backgrounds who cuts the superficial binary of rich and poor.

"Student of the Year" + "Parasite" + a whodunit thriller
Biswas_4 February 2023
Let's get straight to point. There are many things shown in this series that just can't be digested by average Indian audience. The makers have simply stuck to the original "Elite" without much changes to its controversial parts. However, overall, the series is pretty interesting and technically superior.

So for those who haven't seen Elite like me, the story is a whodunit thriller where we explore the past of a bunch of school teenagers and what ultimately leads to the murder of Suhani Ahuja . The past explores a lot of things in the relationships between the students.

First, let's talk about the whodunit part. It was damn surprisingly good. For those who haven't seen Elite, they won't be able to guess for a second also who is the killer considering all the students in picture have a grey shade to their characters and all are under suspicion. When the killer is revealed, it is a shocker because just before the moment Suhani gets killed, you feel there are others as well willing to kill Suhani.

Second, let's get to the past , the bulk of the story. So this part is a bit of "Student of the Year" and "Parasite" mix. I would say this Netflix school is the daddy of KJo school. From school kids consuming alcohol, drugs to getting involved in unbelievably weird fetishes to constant shaming to students kissing their elder teachers , when you just witness those scenes, many of them will make your skin crawl with disgust. There's absolutely no study in this school. Time to time you have to slap your face hard to remind yourself that these are being done by school kids, not college students. I don't know man i maybe too poor to understand what these rich people do or what awkward fetishes they possess but ya ..thi s series shows all that and you have a hard time believing all this . Makers should realise in which country they are remaking such series whether it suits their taste or not.

The clash of rich and poor is explored in Indian cinema a million times and this kind of presentation might not impress many . You have the rich always calling the poor "waiter" "beggars" and all sorts of filty stuff like c'mon , it's 2023 and i really don't think we still live in this era where kids from well educated families would even do so.

However, i really liked a lot of things . The relationships between the students is explored pretty well in this series . I like the relationship explored between Suhani and Dheeraj, Faruq and Dhruv and to some extent, Saba and Veer. Despite being a gay relation, i felt Faruq and Dhruv had the most beautiful relationship between them and it stood out amongst all . The remaining relationships like Koel's weird fetishy Balli and Sharan, and Balli - Sharan' s gay relationship, and Veer - (Tara sutaria clone) relationship were either cringy or too disgusting to accept. The fact that again, these are being shown to be done by school teenagers makes me somewhat feel really disgusted. In India, such filthy stuff doesn't happen in schools like boys randomly roaming around naked, or some girl putting their panties in boys lockers , man all these stuff happen in America, not india.

The technical details of this film is just outstanding. The raw and rustic lanes of old Delhi are shown so well. The raw background sounds are incorporated so well, from a peacock sound / sweet music sound at a rich persons house to the sound of people coughing loudly and incessantly and water dripping noise at the Poor's house . The lighting is terrific. The screenplay is fast and interesting. Bgm is also well used.

One thing to note is this series doesn't try to show the rich enjoying and the poor struggling. It shows how both classes have equal problems in their lives .

Performance wise, Suhani, Saba, Dhruv, Dheeraj, Neeraj, Faruq were the best for me. Rest were too cringy or overacting shops. Overall, i think this series might not find widespread acceptance in india . However, if the fetish part is ignored, then it's a pretty riveting and dark presentation of class division in society with an interesting Whodunit angle to it. It was definitely a surprise watch for me.

Cheap Version of "Elite"
meghabawaa15 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Please do not show this to Indian students. They already have so much peer pressure and with these kind of schools and the families, the current generation will feel the heat much more to live a life like these elites.

Abusing , bullying each other, modernization of education, trolling the less privileged . This is what happens in almost all the scenes.

Although addictive at times, this is certainly not for Indians and certainly not for today's students.

Class will create unexpected expectations in the minds of people who watch it. There are many things you will understand. Like how in 1st episode itself a girl is attracted to a new student without even talking to him. The maturity shown in these 18 yr old kids is flabbergasting.

Really happy that such an Indian series happened!
sharonfelixgeorge4 February 2023
Class is definitely a great remake. Such a heartbreaking performance by Piyush and Anjali!

The realities of homophobia, religious rooted homophobia, blatant and subtle islamophobia (especially by the principal), caste discrimination and class discrimination are all handled with maturity!

The greatest challenge while uprooting a story of class discrimination from the west to Indian society is the placement of additional complication of caste which stands even more fundamental to any other social evil. The series creators aced it!

The making and writing especially the dialogues compensates for some flaws in the story. Really happy that this adaptation was made!! Also expecting a lot of review bombing attempts, as it showcases themes mainstream movies and series just sweeps under the rug!

Forcefully made - Headache
klkds-733914 February 2023
Guaranteed to have headache if you watch the first episode for more than 15 minutes Worst part is being the series is made in india all characters seem to be dubbed and poor acting Netflix could have created an amazing series but they destroyed it Go and watch the original elite There is no base of this story and nothing meaningful to watch Can only seen poor and rich students are fighting without any reason and with a lot of over acting Not even a single character seem to he original and acting good.

I just stopped myself after watching second episode because there is no story no base just copied the characters and put them in india..

Dope it is. If yu know the culture.
ashishsainigne4 February 2023
Dope it is.

I've never read the novel said or watched the original spanish version wateva.

Mainly, I liked it, because Netflix hasn't got me something better in the recent days.

I loved this. Finished it in one Go. All episodes.

When I watched it, I felt it was pretty much, the original itself. I think good characterization, awesome plot, glamor, Indian delhi bakchodi, you understand once yu've lived there. The lead suhani could have been better casted and placed. The best short crisp casting was ballu. Rest many felt out of place but some like Veer did very well. Overall good dramatization in each episode, and I like the fact that it was underdog(not famous cast) at the same time good acting put by all.

I thought this would have started a cult in india, but at the same time I think it's too much drama so not worthy of cult series.

To me, very efficient use of my eight hours during 2023 the rest of Netflix is not bringing that much.

Go watch it if you're thinking on the sidelines.

Classless!!!
Feel-the-truth5 February 2023
What a waste of a series, the only part of the show that to an extent was interesting to see was the class divide and how the wealthy of India live in their own bubble even though they live in India, their arrogance and how they look down others can be believed but it also shows that they are all ill, no peace of mind, which I can also believe, keeping up appearances can be taxing.

Other than this the show is full on rubbish, kids of the rich have nothing better to do that to back stab, have sex, snort a ton of drugs and drink copious amounts of alcohol. Brilliant, if that's was the rich kids of India or any country for that matter do, then I pity them.

Oh I forgot, a show like has to have its LBGTQ scene, this time in the form of a gay duo. Netflix probably would not have accepted the show unless a token gay couple were not added to the show.

Proper crap show, I will say some of the actors were OK. Rich kids, if this is your life, I feel so sorry for you all.

I don't no why people are hating this series.... I watched the review and I totally disagree with them.... It's a remake but it is adapted very nicely from the parent series "Elite"...... People think they have only remake the whole series in India environment...... But it's not like that..... I watched "Elite" and i compared the series.... And I found out that Indian people will understand the perfect meaning of this series by the Indian version "Class".... Coz the original version "Elite" is totally different for us to understand.... You can understand "Elite" but you will enjoy more in "Class"

Class of absuse
sameerlodaya5 February 2023
Sameer lodaya

The series is all about a school in which a class is shown which is full of abuses in all manner

The series has long stretched 8 episodes with extremely slow pace and the story of every character is looping in the same context where it makes you feel when it will end

The content is adopted from ELITE a Spanish series but here they have represented a bunch of students only made for abuses like language , drugs, sex , depression, killings , back stabbing, family disturbances, racism and a lot more..nothing positive you will find in this series..all negative elements have shown over the normal

The positive part of the series is the acting of these new young actors and the rich interior houses

Are we ready to see such negative showcase.
