Actor Dan Biggers (In the Heat of the Night) was originally cast to play the role of Darryl Howell. However, Dan's health situation and budget restraints on traveling to Rome, Georgia forced a casting change. Dan died 16 days after the film wrapped on Principal Photography. Dan Biggers did receive a "Special Thanks" (In Memory) credit.
Writer, Producer, and Lead Actor, Darren W. Conrad, is in real life a 24 year veteran of North Carolina Law Enforcement. A former police officer with the City of Winston-Salem, he is now a Master Trooper with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
The "Howell Residence" in the film is located in the York Chester Neighborhood of Gastonia, North Carolina. Writer, Producer, and Lead Actor, Darren W. Conrad, lived six houses down from 1978-1990 until the death of his father. As a child, Conrad had a friend who lived there, and would play everyday on a trampoline in the backyard of the residence.
Writer and Producer, Darren W. Conrad, offered the role of Carrie Howell to veteran actress, Francine Locke, after meeting her at a Charlotte, North Carolina Film Awards Meetup in the Winter of 2011.
Being a true fan of the television series, "In the Heat of the Night", Darren was a big fan of Actor Marco St. John and Actress Bonnie Johnson. When he was developing the story and characters, he saw only those two in the roles of Sarah Howell and Chief Wade Walker. He sent them the script and they both accepted the roles.
