This movie is product of film-making workshop lead by Dimitar Anakiev in 2008, in Tolmin, Slovenia. The name "Tolminci" comes after the novel written in 1927 by Slovenian writer Ivan Pregelj. It describes peasant bloody uprising in Tolmin in 1713. The filmmakers were interested in uprising as a contemporary phenomena and if citizens of Tolmin are still rebellious as their ancestors.—Anakiev
In 1713 peasants from Tolmin and the surrounding area fomented a rebellion against the local count. The rebellion was violently suppressed, but the residents of Tolmin became the heroes, as symbolic rebels, in a classical novel by Ivan Pregelj. This film, created in a workshop, re-contextualizes the question of rebellion.—Anakiev
