The Poseidon Project is a unique and interesting adventure that kept me guessing and rooting for the project's success. I found the documentary's subject matter distinctive and important. I especially enjoyed Schwankert's drive and intense interest in finding the truth and bringing it to complete strangers. Stranger who just happen to intersect with the story's history and legacy.
I am not a diver, but I have lived and worked in both China and England. I am also a genealogy and family history research aficionado. I can only imagine what it must have been like for the people in this documentary learning so much about the Poseidon's fate – literally out of nowhere. I can imagine that for generations to come, those related to this story by blood or deed will treasure this film and give thanks to all those who made it.
Schwankert's thoughts on the importance of family and naval history, philosophy of life above and below the water, and his western view from inside China were all exceptional. It is truly amazing what grew out of a simple Internet search and what one man's research uncovered.
I hope this is not the end of the project.
