Warning: Spoilers
Molé is a very strong episode, with very strong emotional moments, and a satisfying conclusion to the Mexico storyline, as well as giving more background to a certain 2 characters, with enticing scenes between them. It also gives us some of the coolest fight scenes of the season.

Spoilers:

Molé sees the conclusion to Miguel going to Mexico and finding his dad storyline. I think this episode does a good job at wrapping it up, with the reveal that Miguel's dad is a misogynistic drug dealer who really is as bad as Carmen makes him out to be and Miguel's realisation that Johnny is the only father figure he needs in his life. I think that the scene when Miguel sees Johnny and says to Carmen "I'm okay Ma" is one of the most powerful scenes in the show so far.

Scenes with Robby and Johnny are really refreshing after seeing 4 seasons of Robby just hating Johnny and wanting nothing to do with him. My favourite part with them this episode was when they were laughing together in the car after Robby reveals how he won the spice contest, and Johnny says "that's about the most badass thing I've ever seen".

Silver and Chozen scenes are very suspenseful and it keeps you on edge always, not sure what will happen. I also really liked the dynamic between Chozen and Tory, and I think it could be more explored in season 6 and beyond. The fight scene at the end of the episode demonstrates Chozen's strength and his ability in karate, possibly showing him to be as strong if not stronger than Mr Miyagi himself. Silvers scenes with Chozen also gave us a bit more insight into Silver's grand plan which I like as it sets up silver as even more of a threat.

Favourite Scene: Johnny and Miguel Reunited

Standout character of the episode: Chozen Toguchi

Favourite Plotline: Robby and Johnny looking for Miguel

Overall: 9/10.

it was a bit fun and a bit strange

Warning: Spoilers
Seeing Silver and Chozen going through their own Inglourious Basterds scene. Quentin Tarantino I imagine watching this episode and at the end smiles. Though I like the Inglourious Basterds tribute, but it was too rush to be establish. It could have shown more how things develop between Silver and Chozen, before Chozen got exposed.

It was kind of weird to see Miguel Diaz father in first episode a kind loving family person, switching into a villain in the next episode.

Wearing FBI shirts fit the plot, but does not seem rationale for a father and his teen son wearing them in Mexico.

The peak reaches when Miguel realize who his father is, and then goes out of his father's hiding to meet Johnny, and his son Robby, to Miguel's surprise will share a ride with, his nemesis.

Great characters and plot but some terrible writing bring it down
truthbrarian14 September 2022
I think this episode manages to be action packed and emotional, its great all the different things they decided to do with the characters were pretty cool.

I just can't get behind a couple of the choices here. First the choice to have the two characters finding Miguel in Mexico in FBI shirts was simply moronic. I suppose some stupid decisions have always been in the certain persons character (vague to avoid spoilers) but come on this is really just beyond stupid it can get you killed.

Also I have to say I hate the writers decision with the Hot Pepper scene. There was an earlier scene where Terry explains away the cheating from Season 4 as it being only necessary. So there is a character eating hot peppers in a competition for money (it was only necessary to get a car) but it turns out he only pretended to eat the final most hot pepper. What is the moral ethic here for kids? Just cheat at everything to succeed? Even the good guys are cheating? The adult in the pair says "this was the most badass thing ever" (pretending to eat the pepper so the dude who ate the pepper for real loses). I just think this is terrible.

They even wrote it in a way where Karate training (mental training) was the key to succeed at first before the "surprise" of the cheat. If they had just left it that way it would have been so much better for everyone involved, the characters and the viewers its just astonishing. Maybe it pays off somewhere else.

Besides that this episode kicks a lot of ass with some very cool Karate sequences and a lot of heart and soul with all characters getting some time to shine.

Getting worse

The first seasons relied on the adults, especially Zabka's performance was fun. Now it's all silly plot lines and drama. Episodes are also too long. Watching this for 40 mins every episode is too much.

People act weird, only for nonsense drama.

Definitely looks like the budget is getting higher and higher, that though won't make it up to the plotline, flashy and boring. So much quality can be made with good vision and low budget.

Verdict Cobra Kai continues its winning ways with a summer break season featuring Terry Silver as the karate kingpin to topple. Whereas Kreese knew his way around Johnny's mind, Terry knows how to manipulate Daniel and Season 5 has fun with honoring The Karate Kid Part III in numerous, awesome ways (with Part II's Chozen fully joining the fray in an amazing blend). There are elements of the finale that don't gel, but overall Cobra Kai is still filled with heart, humor, and a staggering amount of franchise love, as if the entire show was designed to help us understand and forgive all '80s movie bullies while also taking stock of our own actions. It's not enough that past villains heal here; some get to thrive and find their own happy endings.

A bit silly

Who on earth invites a complete stranger to stay with them just because he intervened to stop a car, which could have easily swerved nearly hit a child? Also agree with an earlier reviewer, this is a 30min show, these long episodes are too drawn out.
