Nineties country music nostalgia has reached its peak with the announcement that Hot Country Knights, a faux band fronted by a costumed Dierks Bentley, has signed a record deal with Universal Music Group’s Nashville division.
Bentley, who also releases his solo albums through Umg Nashville, started playing one-off gigs with the group in 2015 and masquerades as Douglas “Doug” Douglason, a showboating, ill-tempered former adult film actor who longs for the days when Joe Diffie ruled the country charts. Joining Bentley are members of his live band, each with his...

Ready to enter the fifth dimension? We have the Twilight Zone New Year's Marathon schedule right here.
The Twilight Zone is as timeless as infinity. In this dimension, 2019 was a special year for the iconic sci-fi anthlogy as it marked the series' 60th anniversary. We may be entering a new decade, but Rod Serling will be there to greet us once more with the annual New Year's Twilight Zone marathon on Syfy.
The marathon begins on Tuesday, Dec. 31st at 6:00 a.m. with "One For The Angels" and concludes on Thursday, Jan. 2nd at 3:30 a.m. with "A Piano in the House."
This time of year is always special in The Twilight Zone. Rod Serling was born on Christmas Day in 1924. The New Year's Marathon is just one of the many ways Serling's legacy lives on. Earlier this year, his daughter, Anne, wrote in an...

Exclusive: Kay Oyegun, who currently serves as a producer and writer on NBC’s hit drama series, This Is Us, has been tapped to write the screenplay for the film adaptation of On the Come Up, the young adult novel by The Hate U Give author Angie Thomas.
The project, originally set at Fox 2000 who released 2018’s The Hate U Give film starring Amandla Stenberg, moved to Paramount Players earlier this year after the Fox division was shuttered when Disney took over.
Set in the same universe as its predecessor, On the Come Up focuses on Bri, a young rapper and the daughter of an underground hip hop legend who died just before making it big. Her father’s legend makes him a hard act to follow, but between Bri being bullied and watching her mother struggle after losing her job, she pours out her frustration into songs that become big viral hits.

Brandi Carlile and Dierks Bentley will headline the 2020 Shaky Boots Festival. The country-music weekend, set for May 8th and 9th, returns after a five-year absence to stage its second incarnation at Atlanta’s Central Park.
The time off did the festival well: this lineup is particularly satisfying and eclectic, with mainstream country artists mixing with Americana luminaries. John Prine, Tanya Tucker, and Dwight Yoakam share a bill with Gary Allen, Morgan Wallen, and A Thousand Horses. Alison Krauss, Clint Black, and Jamey Johnson are also in the lineup, along with bluegrass phenom Billy Strings,...

Dierks Bentley’s third single off his album The Mountain, “Living,” is formed around a simple carpe diem message: live well, or you’re really just getting by. It’s a theme that Bentley teaches to his 5-year-old song Knox — or perhaps the other way around — in his new video for the song.
Set in Bentley’s backyard and at various every-kid’s-dream locales (a water park, a go-kart track, a laser tag arena), the clip highlights the singer’s evolved persona: from fun-loving dude to fun-loving dad.
