John Cena has provided an update on his injury, revealing that his recovery may take some time.
Posting on Twitter, he said;
“Day 6 post operation. Movement is very good but because a giant chunk of cartilage was missing, this one may take a bit. #nevergiveup”.
This is bad news for WWE, and it sounds like Dave Meltzer was right when he said that Cena’s recovery will be six to nine months. Judging by the “this may take a bit” comment, it sounds like Cena could be out for the full nine months. The lack of cartilage is going to be a major issue, one that will also leave him susceptible to future injury.
His initial problem was a shoulder injury, with Meltzer reporting it as a torn labrum. It has been speculated that Cena may have suffered the injury due to his olympic style weightlifting.

The Undertaker is in good physical shape and is open to working more dates this year, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports.
It would probably only be rare dates, but one area that could need him is November’s european tour. The Observer references how the tour is lacking depth.
The reason Taker is in such fine shape, is because he’s fully healed from previous injuries and surgeries. He is due to work October’s Mexico tour and could work similar shows before WrestleMania.
However, one thing that is a no-go, is The Undertaker versus Sting match. There’s been zero talk in that direction. That’s a shame, as it is a dream match, but the time to do it was at Mania 31. It looks like the ship has sailed now, especially after Sting’s poor performance and injury at September’s Night Of Champions.

Sting’s neck is not broken, Dave Meltzer reports on Wrestling Observer Radio. However, the neck is injured, and that’s why Sting didn’t appear on Monday’s Raw. He was originally pencilled in for an opening segment announcement, but ended up going home to rest.
Sting suffered the neck injury after taking a big whiplash into the turnbuckles at Sunday’s Night Of Champions. You could see the WCW Icon’s neck snap back.
“He was taken to the hospital for tests after the show,” Meltzer states. “He was able to walk, but he was not doing well.”
Thankfully, tests came back showing no breaks, with Meltzer reporting “The Mri showed no fractures.”
However, Sting’s career could still be done. WWE are reluctant to have another Jerry Lawler situation, and Meltzer says he thinks WWE are “going to be leery.”

The 9th WWE Night Of Champions supercard is now in the history books. Going into the show, the main talking point was that Seth Rollins would defend both the WWE World Heavyweight and United States Titles on the same event. During the pre-ppv ‘Kickoff’ show, it was revealed that those bouts would take place back-to-back, with the Us Title match against John Cena coming first.
A lot of time was allotted to Seth’s double duty, and rightfully so. All in all, Rollins wrestled for around 35 minutes across both matches. The main event was gifted to Sting’s crack at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, even though there had been rumours before the show that Rollins vs. Cena would get the nod to go on last.

Kevin Owens made a major splash on the wrestling scene when he was brought up from Nxt to the main roster to face John Cena in his very first match. That match, which took place at Elimination Chamber, had Owens defeating Cena clean. There couldn’t have been a better way for a debut to play out.
Owens and Cena went on to have two more encounters on pay per view following their initial match, and Cena gained the victory in both of those rematches. All three matches were excellent performances, but many fans and writers alike criticized the fact that Cena won two out of the three matches.
Owens had a homecoming of sorts on Friday evening, wrestling in front of his hometown crowd in Montreal, Canada. Slam Sports sat down with him for an interview, and Owens gave his thoughts on his feud with Cena.

WWE’s Night Of Champions 2015 looks to be one of the more intriguing editions of the Pay-Per-View series in recent memory. Last year, John Cena faced Brock Lesnar in a colossal main event. Aside from that, there really wasn’t all that much else to get excited about on the card. Thankfully, the creative team have written a far more well-rounded mix of stories for 2015.
As things stand, there are 8 matches announced for Night Of Champions. Out of those, 7 are on the main Pay-Per-View portion of the show, with the other existing as a ‘Kickoff’ exclusive to warm up the crowd. It seems unlikely at this point that WWE will add in any other matches, but the real intrigue lies with what has already been confirmed. Given the mix of bout, it seems a dead cert that there will be some shocking moments on the show.

SummerSlam 2015 is in the bag, and now WWE look forward to the next Pay-Per-View offering. On September 20th, the company will present Night Of Champions, an annual show during which the promotion trumpets that every title will be on the line. Historically, the event has produced some sterling matches, such as last year’s main event, Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena.
This year, it seems unlikely that Lesnar will wrestle. At SummerSlam, the seeds were sown for yet another rematch between Brock and The Undertaker. The chances of that bout being given away at Night Of Champions are nil, WWE are far more likely to present the match at WrestleMania 32 next Spring.
Regardless of such a marquee offering being omitted, Night Of Champions should have a lot to offer fans tuning in. This article is all about potential matches on the Pay-Per-View, and exactly why WWE should endeavour to make them happen.

John Cena versus Seth Rollins is scheduled to be a long term feud, Dave Meltzer reports in the wrestling observer newsletter. The program is only just getting started at SummerSlam, and it isn’t considered just a match to move on from.
Based on that information, it seems likely that Cena will be winning the championship at some point in the next few months. It would be difficult to book a long term feud in which the heel just keeps going over.
Meltzer noted the new Cena “15x” shirt which has just been printed, which could be an indication that Cena isn’t winning at SummerSlam. However, Meltzer adds “they change their minds weekly.”
WWE’s next few shows after SummerSlam are Night Of Champions on September 20, and Hell In A Cell on October 25. It would be a fun final fight to see Rollins and Cena squaring off in the cell.

The decision to add Seth Rollins into the WWE Title match at Royal Rumble was made in the past two weeks, reports Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Meltzer added to the report that his belief was that John Cena would win in the originally planned Cena vs Lesnar match. He then thought that Rollins was going to cash in Money In The Bank to steal the title. That angle would’ve also involved a heel like Lesnar or Rusev attacking Cena in his post match victory, thus helping Rollins pull off the cash in. Also, if Lesnar had signed a new WWE deal, something else would’ve been planned.
WWE has now made the match Cena vs Lesnar vs Rollins. Maybe they did that because they’ve lost faith in Cena vs Lesnar as a feud, given how disappointingly it performed in commercial and critical stakes at Night Of Champions.

When you look for a feud in the WWE that has that “big fight feel”, there are none bigger today than Brock Lesnar v. John Cena. While the exact date is unknown, most speculate that the fourth match between Cena and Lesnar will be at the 2015 Royal Rumble at the end of January. The interesting thing about this upcoming match-up is the uncertainty of the contract status of Brock Lesnar; which currently is set to run out in April 2015. That uncertainty means there are many different ways this title match can go.
Due to the fact that the WWE World Heavyweight Champion is a part-timer, the title hasn’t been defended since Night Of Champions. That means a multitude of things need to be done by the WWE to make this title match as special as possible. We’re used to seeing the title defended on at least a monthly basis,...

Worried WWE fans have expressed concern at Brock Lesnar’s physical appearance during WWE Night Of Champions. The current WWE Champion started his match against John Cena with a completely normal look. However, after just a couple of minutes, Lesnar was already sweating profusely and had turned both red and purple in his face. This is normal for someone undergoing intense physical exertion, but Lesnar was barely doing anything of note. A rehearsed wrestling match shouldn’t be turning a man purple.
Indeed, Brock previously used far more athleticism in the Ufc a few years ago. On those genuine sporting occasions, Brock never turned this strange colour. Yet in a predetermined wrestling match, Lesnar looked like he’d just done an hour on a gym treadmill at full speed. Fans have noted that in addition to turning red and intensely sweating, Brock also appeared to be struggling for breath.

The idea behind Brock Lesnar destroying John Cena at SummerSlam was to get both wrestlers over, reports the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
WWE wanted Brock to come across as a monster, they wanted him to break away from the pack of normal wrestlers. In the case of Cena, the ideas was that the beating he took would get him over as a sympathetic babyface. Fans in theory would’ve respected Cena for not quitting and taking the beating like a man. However, that aim was a distinct failure. Cena ended up with very little gained from the match. Fans didn’t care about his resolve, they booed him throughout. When the show had ended and Cena stood up to leave, fans in Los Angeles chanted “Na na na na, good bye,” in hope that he’d be taking time off.
WWE shouldn’t be too concerned about that though.

Last night’s WWE Raw results from the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Michael Cole is the only commentator at the moment.
We go to the ring and Paul Heyman comes out with Cm Punk’s music playing.
Heyman talks about the history that was witnessed at Night of Champions on Sunday as Cm Punk successfully defended his WWE Title against John Cena. The crowd boos Heyman as he admits the finish was controversial and says everyone is talking about it. Heyman calls out referee Chad Patton to the ring and out he does.
Heyman shows an image on the big screen of Cena pinning Punk with the bridge. Patton agrees that he made the right call last night. Heyman says he and Punk commend the referee for making the right decision. Heyman says a fan uploaded footage to YouTube of the pinfall but Cena enforced it to removed earlier today.

Last night’s WWE Raw results from the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
Justin Roberts is in the ring and introduces WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart to a huge pop from the crowd as he makes his first return in a WWE ring to Montreal for 15 years, since the infamous WWE Survivor Series 1997.
The crowd eventually calms down and allows Bret to speak. He thanks the fans for getting him through one of the darkest days of his life. WWE Champion Cm Punk’s music hits and out he comes.
Punk talks about Bret’s book and Punk says he doesn’t have the ego to ever write a book about himself. Punk asks what would have happened if he had wrestled Bret at the Survivor Series instead of Hbk. Bret says it wouldn’t have mattered because the fans know Bret would have tied up Punk like a pretzel in the Sharpshooter.

Since the 1000th episode of Monday Night Raw there have been many important changes. I’m not speaking about number one contenders or title changes, but character alterations to main event wrestlers. It would be hard to argue that any of them are for the better so the question has to be asked: is the WWE failing their superstars?
Aj was installed as the new Raw Gm, which was perhaps the biggest mistake. Ms Lee had become the resident sociopath of the WWE and all of the crazy aspects of her personality that had made her the premier diva were removed, leaving a colourful, but nonetheless, uninteresting girl. Aj had earned major credit and support for her questionable antics; making her one of the most well-recepted of any of the WWE superstars. Now all those layers have been stripped away and in the Gm role she is limited to match-making.

The current plan for this year’s WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view is for Cm Punk to defend his WWE Championship against John Cena in the co-main event, alongside Brock Lesnar vs Triple H.
Punk vs Cena would be a re-match from last year’s WWE SummerSlam main event which ended with neither man holding the belt when Alberto Del Rio cashed in his money in the bank briefcase to steal the title after Punk had beaten Cena and was laid out by Kevin Nash.
