Just like DB Cooper, Colton Harris-Moore became an outlaw hero mainly because he was so elusive. Neither of them were violent offenders and they both used the wide blue yonder as their backdrop. Colton, being a mere teenager, who ran around barefoot, can pluck at the mother in us all. But, he did break into people's homes, which can be enough to unseat the feeling of safety in their own place. The presentation of this barefoot bandit's feats is well paced. I found this flick riveting, even the music parts are interesting. Colton broke out of his group home where he lived after his stint in juvie, and melted into the woods. He's all over cctv, when he wants to be. He steals cars, breaks into homes, steals boats, steals computers so he can have stuff sent to the very homes he stole from. Steals the stuff, learns to fly from the stuff, and then...he steals planes. He flies wherever he feels like it. How could he not become an antihero. It's an American recipe.
