Underrated Gem!
chatomatic13 July 2012
It's a reality show that follows around this well-meaning nerd who has a big heart but also sticks to his principles and morals firmly. He is a superintendent to like hundreds of apartments that are just in the slummiest parts of Ohio (i think) He has to deal with bums, drug-addicts, liars, thieves, etc. day to day, but whilst dealing with them he also gives them the benefit of the doubt and does his best to make accommodations for them but he usually winds up getting taken advantage of.

The show was on HDNET which is now AXS.TV, and like other HDNET produced shows, it has a slightly low-budget/ high school production sort of charm and feel.

I am pretty sure the show was not scripted and it showed, but it was extremely fun and entertaining. The promos had the best sound-bytes and clips and I really think this show was not only special as far as this type of show goes, but was also a guilty pleasure.

I am hoping they do another season.

Dave is a good guy!
anastatiamj8 October 2018
Dave trys to do something good for people who would otherwise be ignored. Sometimes its hard to watch the realisty that we turn away from. The truth is many cities have areas like this. I would not say the show is exploiting rather it is bringing attention to the truth. While doing so Dave really is trying to make a difference with his life. One of the only real things we leave behind when we are done with this world. He is at least out there trying to make it better place

Great Show! Great show of entrepreneurship!
zjmesenbrink1 August 2017
It's not Ohio, it's a city called OMAHA, NE. Great show, totally addicting. Humorous, but I must say, as a resident of Omaha, NE; this is not the entire city. Just Landmark properties. Everyone that rents, owns, or sublets, should strive to not live like some of the people on the show. I'm with Dave, open your heart and enjoy the good that can come with life. Sometimes you're right and sometimes you're proved wrong. It's okay. My father owns property in the city as well, and just loves watching this show. I think he sees Dave as a sort of role model. Dave: your messages show up all around town on your Dino's Storage facilities. Keep up the heart filled good work!

Rachael and her boyfriend
craigoyler15 October 2016
I think Dave is the best, he tries so hard to help. These two, Rachael and her idiot boyfriend( who, BTW could have got them put out for being there as long as he was without being on the lease) are two of they dumbest people ever. They couldn't see help if it punched them in the face and said hi, I'm help. That girl is a social worker? Rachael, see you next Tuesday! Boyfriend, Dave would have stomped a mud hole in your ass. Great work Dave. You have made me appreciate my landlord more than I already do. If the majority of these people would just stay calm and listen to Dave, and not get all worked up and talk tough it would go so much easier.

Exploiting people in poverty, and/or mental illness.
velisity24 October 2016
Warning: Spoilers
This is a show about a man and his crew who are the super- attendant(s) for over 50 locations. You can even quote him saying in the intro that most of his clients live in high crime areas, are addicted to drugs or are victims of abuse. The first episode he's "helping" a woman that's clearly suffering from mental illness but is not enjoying his help what so ever. He is not a psych doctor but treats her like he's got a degree. It was painful to watch the first episode on Netflix.

They are showing some of America's most vulnerable people for your entertainment. If you enjoy that type of thing then you may enjoy this but I thought it was tasteless and a poorly executed rip off of Hoarders/Intervention. I recommend actually watching Hoarders or Intervention. At least that show leaves you with hope. This one made me want to cry and dislike "reality" TV even more. It was; in my opinion senseless re-victimizing of already vulnerable people for the sake of the show.

2 stars, only because of the people that had to endure his presence on the show, the show itself deserves way less.

How to go from hero to villain in 26 episodes
Miramooke6 September 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I was pretty hooked on this show, but it's getting progressively weirder and worse as we get into the second season. We start seeing more of Dave's family and homeless people he feels a need to "help" for some reason. YAWN.

But what is really interesting is how Dave goes from a well-meaning, slightly meddling property manager who has to be over-involved to prevent his apartments from being destroyed, to an aggressive, pushy, demanding slumlord.

Dave harangues a guy for not sweeping alongside his bed, yet the paint was literally peeling off the walls when he moved in. Oh, but then Dave buys him a new bed. What a nice guy.

Dave gets in his new employee's face for asking for more money (he was making less than minimum wage). But, you know, he offered him a job in the first place so isn't he so very nice?

Dave bullies a couple with a temporary lease (while their other apartment, also Dave's property, is being fixed) into moving back into their old apartment although it's somewhat clear that their temporary lease isn't up yet. Oh, but he brings her a cream pie as a peace offering! D'awwww.

Dave offers a person in homeless and addicted to drugs and opportunity to mow all the lawns on the street in exchange for dinner for the guy and his girlfriend. Dave is shocked when the lawns aren't mowed the next day, and inexplicably goes to find the guy at a local shelter. He's sober, a fact which Dave completely attributes to himself as he asks "so, what did I say to you yesterday that turned it around for you?"

Dave's smarmy god complex is horrifying yet somehow delightful to watch and judge.

Funny?

Although I wasn't a fan of this show, I still believe and know that everyone matters and you don't have to be anyone special to matter. "treyganrussel" is pretty much no worse than what some people refer as a terrible person. Simply because they love the fact that a person, including whoever else was on that plane Dave Paladino was on, died. Think about what you type out in the world before you type it, Trey. Being human for anyone is tough enough as it is no matter what they have, how much they make and what they believe in. You're no worse than I and anyone else, including Paladino. Your comment pretty much proves it. People who type/say things like you do without any conscience drive me nuts, especially when they find some modern and illogical remark to justify it. Find a heart, let go of your pride and humble yourself for the sake of no one.
