Since boygenius took home a few Grammy Awards this February, Phoebe Bridgers has had some down time. This week, she joined Conor Oberst onstage at the Teragram Ballroom in Los Angeles for a couple of songs, reuniting as the duo the two performed as throughout 2019, Better Oblivion Community Center.
There have been a few instances of Bridgers and Oberst getting the band back together since moving on from the project, but the most recent was a virtual performance in 2020 for the Save Our Stages project, making this the first time they’ve performed together in four years.
All taking place during the encore of Oberst’s show, the two brought out Better Oblivion Community Center track “My City” in addition to a duet version of Bright Eyes classic “Lua.” They then closed out the night with “Double Life,” a cut off Oberst’s 2014 solo album.

Following decades in television and film, including stints as a producer, screenwriter and documentary filmmaker, Yoshiyuki Kishi made his feature directorial debut in 2016, aged 52, with Double Life, attracting some international festival attention.
He returned the following year with the ambitious Wilderness, based on the only novel by Shuji Terayama. Released in two parts a few weeks apart in Japan, with a combined running time of more than five hours, Wilderness portrayed two very different social outcasts on their journey to becoming professional boxers, against the backdrop of a socially disintegrating Japan. It landed Masaki Suda best actor at the Japan Academy Awards, and Korea’s Yang Ik-june best supporting actor at the Asian Film Awards.
Kishi’s latest, (Ab)normal Desire, is almost certainly his most challenging and complex work to date. Selected in competition at this year’s Tokyo International Film Festival and starring Yui Aragaki, Goro Inagaki,...

The idea that must have flashed in someone’s mind when they thought of making Double Life: Just get two female characters running about in the streets, solving a case. Double Life indeed features two female characters, and they do run about here and there to solve a case. No character justifications are given for their tenacious and courageous attitude, and the film tries to talk about the ‘double life’ of somebody who dies in the first five minutes. No wonder the plot seems forced.
Double Life‘s story begins by showing us Mark’s double life. Working for the district attorney’s office, he has something big against the coal company Dellicano that might just bring the company down. He is cheating on his wife with his mistress. Both women love him and are distraught when he dies. The death is no accident, and they both fear it’s a murder.

Exclusive: Republic Pictures has snapped up rights to The Image of You, a recently wrapped thriller starring Sasha Pieterse (Pretty Little Liars) in dual roles. Pic is set for release via Paramount Global Content Distribution at a date that hasn’t been disclosed.
Parker Young (United States of Al), Nestor Carbonell (The Morning Show), Michele Nordin (Justified) and Academy Award winner Mira Sorvino (Shining Vale) also star in the film from Mpca — an adaptation of the same-name novel from UK-based bestseller Adele Parks MBE, which Jeff Fisher (Killer Movie) directs from a script by Chris Sivertson (Monstrous).
The first project to emerge from a multi-picture deal between Mpca and Parks, The Image of You has Pieterse playing identical twins Anna and Zoe, who share a bond so close that nothing — and no one — can tear them apart. While Anna is romantic and trusting, her sister Zoe is daring and dangerous.

It was reported this week that Raquel Leviss and Tom Sandoval had split amid that “Vanderpump Rules” affair scandal, however, Ariana Madix doesn’t think that’s the case.
Madix chatted to Andy Cohen on “Watch What Happens Live”, speaking to the host about her ex cheating on her with her then-friend Leviss.
Madix and Sandoval had been dating for nine years when she found a Nsfw video of Leviss on his phone.
A source told Et that “Tom and Raquel broke up” in the wake of their cheating scandal. But, Madix insisted to Cohen: “I don’t buy that at all.”

"I think between the two of us, we can figure out what happened to him quicker than the cops." Mpca has unveiled an official trailer for Double Life, a mystery thriller made by Canadian filmmaker Martin Wood. Another of these forgettable films that is just being quickly dumped on VOD as more mindless content to consume. The film follows a widow who finds out from her late husband's mistress that his death was not an accident. The two women will form an unlikely alliance to uncover the truth behind his murder and unmask the man they both loved. Of course they're going to end up deeply in trouble way over their heads. Double Life stars Javicia Leslie, Pascale Hutton, Vincent Gale, John Cassini, Aaron Douglas, and Niall Matter. Everything about this looks obvious and cliche, and the twist probably isn't going to be memorable. // Continue Reading ›...

Warner Bros. Discovery has had a rough go of it recently. The newly-formed mega corporation’s decision to callously prune HBO Max’s servers of hours of content has led to mountains of bad PR and billions of dollars in market cap losses. Suffice it to say, a jam-packed list of new HBO Max releases for September 2022 would provide some welcome relief for the “House of the House of the Dragon.”
Unfortunately, HBO Max’s new releases this month are uncommonly light. It’s impossible to say whether this is the result of more Wbd meddling or simply some bad scheduling luck but either way it’s not going to make any executives’ seats less warm. There are only a handful of notable originals this month, led by season 2 of the Spanish language comedy Los Espookys on Sept. 16. That is joined by a pair of documentaries, Escape from Kabul on Sept.
