The harrowing docuseries Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV has shed a light on the abuse and mistreatment suffered by many child stars working for Nickelodeon, specifically those on shows run by Dan Schneider, the producer of All That and The Amanda Show.
The first four episodes featured testimonials from former child stars who worked on shows produced by Schneider, including Drake Bell, Giovonnie Samuels, Bryan Christopher Hearne, and Katrina Johnson. They talked bravely about the toxic work environment they experienced as children, and the abuse that many of them suffered from the adults they worked with.
Episode 5 will feature a different format from the others, with journalist Soledad O’Brien leading an interview with Bell, Samuels, Hearne, Hearne’s mother Tracey Brown, as well as former All That cast member Shane Lyons, who is appearing in the docuseries for the first time. O’Brien is set to...

Vice Television is going through a shuffle at the top, with head exec Morgan Hertzan set to exit next week and Pete Gaffney replacing him on an interim basis.
The move was just announced internally by Vice Media Group CEO Bruce Dixon in a memo to employees.
Hertzan plans to segue to another, unspecified opportunity after his last day at Vice on April 12. His move follows waves of staff departures and dramatic changes at Vice. The onetime media industry darling filed for bankruptcy last year and was acquired for $350 million (a fraction of its valuation a decade ago) by a consortium led by Fortress Investment Group. A+E Networks remains a stakeholder in Vice TV. On pay-tv, the network launched as Viceland in 2016 after taking over A+E’s H2 in a rebrand before later adopting the name Vice TV.

Kenan Thompson is speaking out following the shocking allegations on Nickelodeon sets revealed in the Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV docuseries.
The actor and comedian, who previously rose to fame following his roles on Nickelodeon shows Kenan & Kel and All That in the late ’90s and early 2000s, recently opened up about his experience on the sets as well as gave his support for those who shared their personal stories in the doc.
“It’s a tough subject because, it’s tough for me because I can’t really speak on things that I’ve never witnessed,” Thompson said on Wednesday’s episode of the daytime talk show Tamron Hall. “You know what I’m saying? Because all these things happened after I left, basically, and Dan [Schneider] wasn’t really on Kenan & Kel like that. I mean, he got a ‘created by’ credit, but it was a different showrunner.

It’s getting complicated — and crowded — in the conference rooms at Cinderella’s Castle.
Everyone has new board members for Disney, it seems. Billionaire Nelson Peltz and his Trian Fund Management have certainly made known their opinion on Disney CEO (and board member) Bob Iger’s leadership. Tl;Dr, it’s not positive. This morning, two new activist investors entered the chat.
Iger’s got friends in high places at ValueAct Capital Management and activist hedge fund Blackwells Capital; both stepped up to bat for Bob on Wednesday. In a filing with the Securities & Exchange Commission, ValueAct says it will support the current Disney Board of Directors’ 2024 nominees for the board seats. Iger returned the compliment.

Charlie Hunnam knew he wouldn't be Anakin Skywalker after a "very awkward" meeting with 'Star Wars' creator George Lucas. The 43-year-old actor was in line to play Darth Vader's alter ego in 2002's 'Attack of the Clones' and 2005's 'Revenge of the Sith', but ultimately lost the part to Hayden Christensen.Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, he recalled: "I had forgotten that too, but yes, I did."I got to the point where I was meeting George Lucas, you know? Which... I don't think he meets a lot of actors."I think it was probably, maybe, two to three actors they were considering. I don't remember much about it."He added: "And I just remember it being a very awkward meeting and walking out and thinking, 'Well, I'm definitely not [getting the] role.' And I was correct. Sometimes it's about the vibes."Anakin, who turns into Darth Vader as he is...

The concept behind Peter Gabriel’s first album of original material in 21 years, i/o, feels strikingly contemporary. Over the last year, the veteran singer-songwriter has dropped a new song each month, touring arenas leading up to the album’s release. With each song being made available in a “Bright-Side” mix, “Dark-Side” mix, and a third Dolby Atmos “In-Side” mix, i/o effectively allows listeners to pick their favorites among the different versions and create their own playlist.
While the bones of the songs are taken from the exact same performances, the mixes feature major differences in their musical emphasis. For one, the “Bright Side” mix of “Panopticom” puts acoustic guitar at the forefront, while the instrument is barely heard in the “Dark Side Mix.” The former delivers a more potent version of the song, leaning into Gabriel’s penchant for grand statements, with sweeping, warm strings and piano.

Pink Floyd might have had one of the most dramatic transformations of any major classic rock band. Though drummer Nick Mason said the band’s groundbreaking early concerts were rubbish, Floyd became a psychedelic sensation. When the group moved on without founder and chief songwriter Syd Barrett, they emerged as a commercially successful prog rock powerhouse. But it didn’t happen overnight. One Pink Floyd song marked the breaking point between its psychedelic origins and legendary future.
The Pink Floyd song ‘Childhood’s End’ pointed toward ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’ and beyond
Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page praised Barrett’s genius approach to music making. The innovation didn’t last. His erratic behavior led his bandmates to move on without him in 1968. Yet transforming into the prog-rock band that churned out commercially successful albums throughout the 1970s wasn’t seamless.
Pink Floyd held on to their psychedelic roots for several years after dismissing Barret.

Album artwork flipped from being an afterthought to a feature when classic rock bands started selling millions of records during their heyday. The large surface area of vinyl LP sleeves gave artists a huge pop culture canvas to work with, and they took advantage. Pink Floyd took full advantage of the album cover-as-artwork movement, and their best sleeves remain some of the most iconic ever created. The Beatles and Rolling Stones saw some of their album artwork banned, but Pink Floyd never ran into that problem.

Pink Floyd’s classic rock bonafides are just as impressive as their English counterparts. Paul McCartney’s prediction for the band proved to be right, and they created a string of culturally impactful albums throughout the 1970s. New York City proved how much Pink Floyd’s 1973 masterpiece The Dark Side of the Moon resonates 50 years after its release.

The Beatles’ psychedelic pop masterpiece Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band remains an iconic album from the era. Pink Floyd’s debut record, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, is another. Paul McCartney was a guiding force behind Sgt. Pepper’s, including coming up with the title, but he took time to “pass the mantle” to Pink Floyd. McCartney’s prediction about Floyd’s potential (which came with some reassuring words) was 100% right.

With Pink Floyd unlikely to reunite ever again, Gov’t Mule will fill the void this summer by embarking on “The Dark Side of the Mule Tour.”
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Dark Side of the Moon, Gov’t Mule will perform Pink Floyd covers on a newly announced amphitheater tour. Each show will also feature a separate set of Gov’t Mule originals, as well as special guest opener Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening.
According to frontman Warren Haynes, the upcoming tour will mark the final “Dark Side of the Mule” performances. “This all started so organically with what we thought would be a one-time Halloween performance [in 2018]. Since then, ‘Dark Side of the Mule’ has grown into something else.
