We.re all fascinated by mysteries and strange phenomena. But is the unexplained really unexplainable? William Shatner returns to television and once again he's dealing with aliens. His new show "Weird or What?" first premiered on the History Channel in Canada. Other science fiction icons have hosted similar shows; John Noble's "Dark Matters: Twisted But True" and Jonathan Frakes "Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction." Pun intended, history will tell if Shatner's version will develop the same cult following to stand the test of time. Another noteworthy show this week is "Big Brain Theory: Pure Genius." Ten really smart, generally young people are competing for $50,000 and a job with a design and engineering company, with eliminations each week based on how they perform on a high-concept challenge. ...

Was aviation pioneer Charles Lindbergh an American Nazi? Did a Hungarian musician's song trigger 18 suicides? How did a lobotomy doctor earn the Nobel Prize? Fringe star John Noble answers those, and some even creepier questions, as the host of Science's Dark Matters: Twisted But True.
Dark Matters returns for its second season Saturday at 10/9c. "I'm much more fearful of what I don't know than what I do know," Noble says. "We're not Mythbusters, but we've looked at events that people only shadily know of or perhaps have heard about, and reveal answers."

If you don’t know what a Browncoat is, this probably won’t mean much to you. If, however, you have an I Am A Leaf In The Wind license plate holder and you are contemplating going to your bunk right after you read this, then clearly this is for you.
Because thanks to the Science Channel the old Firefly gang is getting together for their tenth anniversary, in public, to talk with us, their people. Confirmed are Joss Whedon, Tim Minear, and cast members Nathan Fillion, Alan Tudyk, Adam Baldwin, Sean Maher, Michael Fairman - eek! he was the evil Niska! – “and the rest of the crew of Serenity.” We therefore don’t know for sure about any of the women, but hopefully that’s just a weird oversight by the people writing the press release. We may know more when the Friday Comic-Con schedule is released tomorrow.
But wait,...

Joss Whedon and Nathan Fillion are returning to Comic-Con -- but this summer they are debuting "Firefly."
The "Avengers" helmer is heading up a Science Channel panel celebrating the 10th anniversary of his short-lived but beloved "space western" about a crew of bandits, or Browncoats, who commit all manner of unlawful activity aboard their rundown spaceship, "Serenity." (Also the title of a follow-up film based on the Fox TV series.)
Joining Whedon and Fillion (now starring in "Castle") are co-executive producer Tim Minear and castmembers Alan Tudyk, Adam Baldwin, Sean Maher, Michael Fairman and "the rest of the crew of the 'Serenity,'" promises the network. (No word yet on whether that includes Gina Torres, now on "Suits," "Homeland's" Morena Baccarin or Summer Glau.)
Attendees will also be treated to never-before-seen "Firefly" footage and "numerous buzz-worthy surprises" at the panel, scheduled for Friday, July 13 at 12:30 p.m.

Whenever I’ve urged anyone who’d listen that Fringe is the great science-fiction series that networks have been trying to make (and stick), one of the most common excuses is that they are too far behind to just jump into the middle. But who could blame anyone wanting to start from the beginning? Fringe‘s universe switching, multiple versions of several characters, and shape-shifters could confuse even the most attentive fans. Outside of sitting down with the DVDs or blu-rays, getting new viewers to catch onto the story, as the series begins production on its fifth and final, 13-episode season, will be even more difficult. For those who own Discovery Communication’s Science Channel it just got a little easier.
THR reported today that the niche cable channel will get non-exclusive syndication rights to air the re-runs on cable but the agreement leaves streaming flexibility in the future. Fringe...

Don’t fret “Fringe” fans! As the show enters its final season this fall comes word that the Science Channel will air the show in syndication. The two universes will live on!
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Science Channel has bought off-network syndication rights to the Fox sci-fi drama, meaning that Warner Bros. TV, the studio behind the show, can offer up more syndication rights to a streaming service as well. With season five premiering this fall, the news breathes new life into the low-rated, but much-loved show.
The deal makes sense given that in this fifth season the show will reach the 100-episode mark making it ripe for syndication. The final season has a 13-episode order. On the Science Channel the show will be in good company joining Rickey Gervais’ travel series, “An Idiot Abroad,” as well as Nathan Fillion’s own cult drama, “Firefly.” In addition, "Fringe...
