Should've been released on Disney+ or not at all.
rogerdemarco304 October 2022
I've been in a slasher movie kind of mood as of late. I watched New Year's Evil the night before last and To All a Good Night shortly before that. I decided to pay a visit to the Redbox because I noticed that two out of the three locations that my town had were removed without warning. Much to my surprise I saw that they had Cheer or Die.... because I heard that it was supposed to air on the SyFy Channel around Halloween. This movie is pretty much a bloodless affair and is so tame.... that with some tinkering.... this could've easily obtained a PG rating and premiered on Disney+. The movie contains almost a dozen death scenes.... none of which are particular memorable.... but I did find it odd that the killer brought a set of throwing knives to fling occasionally. This had the potential to be a decent time waster had they added gallons of blood and some creativity.... but this is barely a horror film as it stands.

Not as good as others
susantreat-4015427 October 2022
Wow to think that I'm a supper fan of the bring it movies I have to say by far this is not one I would say hits above a five. I think if there is to be more. It should be more better. I own all but I don't think I am going to spend my money on this film. I would say if your a big fan be prepared for a let down. This did not have as many cheers in it and for a grudge to be held that long. Wow twins daughter i must say those girls mother held a revenge on the other girls mother long enough but for the ones the killed they should have been able to live and not die. Plus there is a lot of jealousy when it comes to the cheerleading and what is based on a horrible accident.

She texted me tacos
nogodnomasters14 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
As a comedy horror it was neither. The film starts out with a Diablo cheerleader accident that was caused by cheerleader jealousy. The film jumps to 20 years later where the Diablo cheerleaders and football team sucks. The cheerleaders are banned from doing any flips, one foot on the ground at all times. They decide to practice off school property for the upcoming cheerleader competition doing flips and pyramids. They go spend the night in an abandoned school and there is a killer on the loose and a sheet keeping track of the kills. The "final girl" which we should have already figured out before they tell us is worth a whole 15 points compared to the 4-10 points the rest are worth.

The dialogue attempted at times to be cute, but failed. The horror lacked blood and suspense. There was zero in the way of character build-up or development. If all you have is cute cheerleaders, they need to take a shower.

Guide: no swearing, sex, or nudity.

The franchise slump
rhodes-chad9010 October 2022
I'm hoping that this is the marker that rebooting the franchise to the level of theatrical release is around the corner. Bring It On has fallen far from its initial 2000's installation but most of the sequels have had some campy aspect to offer in terms of entertainment but this, oh boy, is by far the worst sequel yet. Doing a campy horror/comedy with the concept is fairly easy but its clear that this was given the most minimal of budgets giving it just above the ranks of a film school thesis project. And where are the jokes? For this to be a comedy i did not chuckle ONCE. This is definitely not the kind of film you watch alone, this is a group venture with ample breaks and talking to break up the monotony. There are some cast members that have a chance of this being a spring board for future projects but even that might be a stretch.

Only saving grace was...
mistela6723 November 2022
Okay, so I have to make this 600 characters. Sooo, I will say this. I watched the movie from beginning to end. And it was fun, at times. But I watched it early on for the eye candy. Yoga pants and cheerleader movies never fails. Hmmm. Still over 350 words to go. Uh, well, the movie was...well, stupid. But it was fun. Enough. Eye candy. Yoga pants. Fit bodies. Kept me going. Yep. Still 200 words. Uh...so, I guess the franchise officially jumped the shark. Did you know that the term "jump the shark" came about from the old series, Happy Days. Yep. Yeah. 25 words. The movie was horrible. Made it!

Good grief!
flixgirl5730 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I had no idea it was even a 'horror', & I use that term lightly. I thot it was just another Bring It On flick. When Mykayla was taken out I thot, oh well, wonder what that's about. It could've been a fun movie, most of the characters were pretty good. When the phones went missing & then the bathroom kill happened I knew it wasn't just a cheer movie. But come on, how stupid do they have to make these ppl in this kind of movie?? No one except Abby even tried to fight back. Scott was absolutely useless, running around the tv instead of toppling it on the mascot! Not even trying to move after he was on the ground! I am so sick of everyone being portrayed as stupid. And the ever famous line, "Let's split up & look for them." Makes me just cringe! When are we going to get a horror where ppl actually stick together & fight? That would be some movie!

Terrible
bkngqqjf9 June 2023
Terrible movie, acting is dreadful, storyline is awful the film from start to finish is a complete waste of time, disaster movie 2008 is rated a 1.9 and it is legit a better movie than this the rating I give is very kind for how bad this is.

If you want to watch a good horror movie do a google search or jump into here and look into it more I just clicked on not thinking more so for my wife and I honestly complained all the way through hahah there is a part from someone who is acting deaf in the movie and he is probably the best actor out of all of them but yeah just don't watch this unless you want to be disappointed.

The Worst Entry of the Entire BIO Franchises
frederickzabala19946 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This is literally one of the worst Horror Movies of 2022 (granted it's TV Movie and very bloodless but still count) and the only saving grace are the girls wearing midriff including the lead play by Kerri Medders and SPOILER ALERT

if you're into Horror Movies that has a Run Over Scenes whether it's good or bad like Jeepers Creepers, Halloween 4, TCM 2003, etc, it's for you in which Abby and the surviving squad members are trying to escape in the bus until Paige killed the bus driver and Abby have to take the wheel and ran over the former who for odd reasons never moved out of the way and she's still standing like she's doing an Oh S reaction but survived and taunt Abby until seconds later Abby back up the bus, running over paige several times to make sure she's dead for real and the other survivors applauded like nothing happened.

Halloween Fun
kyleallencole98 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
What a nice little sequel this turned out to be in the long Bring It On franchise. Most of the sequels were exactly the same about a cheerleading team trying to win nationals. This one however decides to go a different route by having the team being targeted by a masked killer instead while practicing at a abandoned school on Halloween, which technically didn't look like it was Halloween around their school and town.

Parts of this was similar to the bring it on fashion, but scenes with the kids running from a killer in an empty school was done in the syfy channel fashion.

This one had plenty of kills, but they weren't bloody or gory.

I will say that the some of ending came to be a good surprise that I didn't see coming.

Overall not a bad sequel.

Never mixed horror with Cheerleading
dmcintyre-4404812 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
So I decided to look at the new Bring It On movie, and the reviews weren't lying! I'm still never a fan of horror slasher movies! I can't believe Bring It On made a Halloween franchise movie! I can point out a lot of errors and disappointing points in this film:

*Instead of a nightmare, they decided to have a flashback. That's even more of a nightmare

*Don't force someone to do something they're not ready for or, in this case, out of jealousy, on purpose!

*Missi Pyle's character, principal Simmons, is so much more psycho than her character Gail on A Cinderella Story: Once Upon a Song

*Tori hung (digits cut!), Sydney drowned in the toilet (is that a bear trap?!), and Quincy (literally axed) got X'ed?! *screams in fear* This, cheerleaders and fans, is why we used the buddy system!

*Mascots are so dark

*Scott shouldn't have found Abby, and now it's learned that he was hooking up with McKayla?! OMFG!

*OMG, I can't believe I saw Abby's ex get killed by a TV!

*Abby lost Evan?! No, now she doesn't have a new love interest

*I knew it! I knew those twins were double trouble the evil! And I thought Hannah from Worldwide #Cheersmack was the two-faced witch!

*All of this was for revenge?! OMG, Revenge is not the answer! Why else is Abby trying her best NOT to be like her mom?!

*Finally, an LGBT (lesbian) couple in this (born straight but a supporter) - one good point

*Where did the traitor get a bow and arrow?!

*Another good point, one of my favorite dancers is in this

*The craze principle, the woman who caused all this, to the point that she suddenly X out the survivors, which makes her even eviler than ever!

Sorry, Tony G, I prefer the romantic comedic aspect of the series, so from my point of view, NEVER AGAIN! That was the worst movie I have ever seen, and probably glad I will never, ever wanna watch ever again! So Bring It On fans, if you value your life, don't, and I repeat, DON'T watch it! I recommend the first six movies instead.

It's Alright..
goalfred-218907 October 2022
I came in watching this movie expecting nothing because of its PG-13 rating but it's honestly not that bad... the killer motivation is understandable and the acting is ok... the kills were not explicit but still not appropriate for younger viewers... this movie is nothing alike the Original Bring It On franchise and feels like it just uses it's name. It's honestly a decent movie and to me it was entertaining. The first 2 acts were good and it kind of falls apart At the end. I do like the "cheer or die" title and it's a fun flick to come across by. If you do cheer or interested in cheer I recommend this movie to y'all.

Halloween Cheerleading Fun
njamesgentry7 October 2022
It's PG-13 fluff with a horror twist. What's not to love? Cheerleaders practice at an abandoned school on Halloween night, get bloodlessly killed, and it's up to the survivors to unmask the person responsible. It's got a ton of humor, fun dialogue, cool dance/stunt work, and certainly will appeal to everyone. Plus it's 1,000% better than the last Bring It On movie! Of course it's not going to win an Oscar. Just turn your brain off and allow yourself to have fun! It's harmless silliness; all violence is bloodless and free of scares. But I had fun watching it. I loved the cast and thought they worked really hard to deliver a great movie.

Fun

The seventh film installment of the Bring It On franchise and the first entry with horror elements. Pretty and cute girls with weak performances, mainly because they didn't have better materials to work with. Made-for-television film budget script, direction and cringe dialogues. Except for a few funny dialogues there wasn't much of comedy in this film.

A decent idea but badly exploited.
destroyerwod12 October 2022
I watched the first Bring it On way back and i think i watched just one of the sequels (the one with Hayden Panettiere). Its not a franchise i am ultra fond of but i find the ones i watched entertaining for teen movies.

After many direct to video sequels, they tried something new with the concept and why not. Could be fun.

The issue is altought the story is fine, the location as well, and the kills are decent in numbers, they are just not memorable AT ALL. The movie is almost bloodless, there is not much tension, i just didn't cared much for the characters either. And the concept of "cheer or die" is barely used.

Ultimately you end up with a very simple by the book cheap slasher movie that you will watch once and be like "meh... it passed time".

Very disappointing!!!!
TodaysHaul31710 February 2024
Bring It On: Cheer or Die (aKa Bring It On 7) is a 2022 slasher comedy film directed by Karen Lam (Shevenge, Mythos, Evangeline, The Curse of Willow Song, and Chiral). It was written by Rebekah McKendry (Glorious, All the Creatures were Stirring, Psycho Granny, Elevator Game, and Separation), Alyson Fouse (Bring It On franchise, Scary Movie 2, Honey 2, and Everybody Hates Chris), and Dana Schwartz (She-Hulk). It was produced by production manager Eve Stewart (Tales from the Hood 3, The Grudge, Curse of Chucky, and Capote). It is the seventh and final installment of the Bring It On series. It was made for the SYFY channel and it made it's premiere on there during October!!!! When Abby (played by: Kerri Medders from SEAL Team, Spin, Promised Land, Jane, and Do Not Reply) and her ambitious Diablos teammates which includes Paige (played by: Marlowe Zimmerman from The Bad Seed Returns, Undertow, and The J-Team) and McKayla (played by: Tiera Skovbye from Riverdale, Ride, Once a upon a Time, and Summer of 84) are forbidden from doing any risky cheer stunts by their overly cautious principal (played by: Missi Pyle from MA, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Dodgeball, Galaxy Quest, Big Fish, 50 First Dates, and Along Came Polly), they are worried that they will be a joke in the upcoming regional cheer competition. The desperate squad comes up with a plan to choreograph a winning routine in secret at an abandoned school. Once they arrive at the school to rehearse. One by one, the cheerleaders begin to disappear. When they realize that they're trapped inside with a killer, it may be too late for any of them to survive!!!! The Bring It On series was very popular years ago and they have made a decent amount of sequels so I was very curious when they originally announced that they were making a horror version of the cheerleader franchise. I guess it being a SYFY original should have been the first major red flag when it came to this production but honestly a decent amount of them are actually solid. They sometimes make a harder and more extreme cut for home video every once in awhile but unfortunately they didn't do that with Cheer or Die. I did think it was pretty cool that this horror feature was mainly handled by women so it gave it a different perspective compared to other stuff in the genre. Since it was basically made for television, it was destined to be watered down which really hurt this sequel because it's a slasher so it kinda defeats the purpose. It's a very tame slasher with only a few decent moments when it comes to violence and kills. The script was a little slow and I do appreciate character development but it messed with the flow of this one so it dragged for a little bit before anything really happens. I will say that I actually enjoyed the twist at the end but this had so much more potential to something fun and different when it came to horror. The cast that includes Alexandra Beaton (300), Sam Robert Muik (The Twilight Zone), Erika Prevost (Scream VI), Samuel Braun (DC's Legends of Tomorrow), Alec Carlos (Tales from the Hood 3), and Makena Zimmerman had a few bright spots but most of them were just there for looks and not skill at all when it came to the acting. Missi Pyle was pretty solid in her supporting role in this. I always try to find the best in things no matter what but it's really hard to justify that with Bring It On: Cheer or Die. To be real, I'll most likely never watch this one again and I wouldn't even recommend watching it at all. It's one of the worst horror films that I've seen in a long time.

Held up by some big factors but still fun enough
kannibalcorpsegrinder13 October 2022
Determined to improve their routine, a group of cheerleaders forced to minimize their performances decide to sneak into an abandoned school nearby to secretly improve their chances, but during their practice they realize a masked killer is stalking them one by one and have to get out alive.

This was a disappointing if still decent enough effort. One of the few positives here is the overall setup that brings the group together at the location and how the killings start. The impositions against the team that's established against them where they're held back by limitations imposed by the authority figure that has a series of rules in place to prevent glamorous activity in place and the desire to rebel against them serve this one quite well. It brings a major focus to their desire to try to win and improve their squad's skills while also bringing about a great red herring in the unreasonable principal offering up roadblocks to their quest that has the proper motivation to go through with the excursion. The other fun part here is the fun energy provided to this one once the killer arrives and the kills start happening. The pace here is highly enjoyable as the first few attacks occur within a short span of each other as the bathroom sequences and the hallway chase lead to a rather fun series of confrontations involving the masked killer appearing and taking them out one by one. That this makes the group aware of what's happening quite earlier than normal means that there's a lot to like involving the escapes of the group throughout the school and featuring enough confrontations to make the killer imposing and threatening enough that it maintains a sense of fear due to knocking off as many as they do. All told, these manage to generate some more positive points than expected. There isn't much to bring this down but does have some rather big issues. The biggest factor to be had here is the most obvious one in the toned-down nature of everything to maintain the lighter rating. The lack of any kind of controversial content here is painfully obvious while making the complete dearth of blood or gore in the kills is completely underwhelming here with the characters either turning away from the killing blow or having the camera cut away obviously. This can be rather distracting and aggravating for those looking for something brutal and hard-hitting that would've been apparent from the setup, while the other small drawback here comes from the utterly underwhelming motivation for the killer's rampage. It feels like a first-draft type of motivation that would be a place-holder for a real motivation as the idea is there but its execution is several lacking. It's these factors that end up lowering this one.

Rated PG-13: Language and Violence.

Plot twist
wargojason-946986 April 2023
I really didn't think that universal studios was going to make a comedy horror film based on the bring it on series. I mean it has lots of twists and turns plus the killer is very psychotic plus the beginning of the film was pretty interesting I mean I'm afraid of heights I mean the reason why is because I'm afraid of falling to my death that is what could possibly happen in cheerleading sometimes people end up breaking bones but anyway I give this movie one thumb up besides I wonder what all the other movies in the series are all about also another thing about bring it on they're all different from each other.

I hope that they make the next Space Jam film a slasher.....
FlashCallahan27 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
20 years ago. A high school cheerleader fell to her death attempting an aerial stunt during a competition, an outcome plotted by teammates jealous of her talent. That same present-day high school team, the Diablos, continue to live with the repercussions of that incident.

Despite the fact that the current principal has allowed her daughter Paige to join the team, she won't allow any stunts that involve coming off the ground, a restriction that makes it impossible for them to challenge their rivals.

Team captain McKayla and co-captain Abby, rebel, organising a practice of routines at an abandoned high school on the weekend of Halloween.

But the team captain is killed even before the weekend starts. The rest make it to the school and, almost immediately, start dropping like flies............

Having never seen one of the films in this franchise (I'm not the demographic for this franchise), I thought it sounded good, and a pretty big risk. The makers of this film knew they had a franchise that was followed, but to changing the film to a different genre altogether, that's a pretty sound, and albeit very little genius move.

That's like turning one of the Scream films into a musical just for the hell of it, it turning a Die Hard film into something paranormal. It wouldn't be done, and it should be done, but this, somehow works, because it's just so silly, and it never gets boring, despite the ridiculous twist at the end.

One thing that did surprise was how likeable the characters are when they get to the main buffet of the film, the old abandoned school. From my cinematic knowledge, Jocks and Cheerleaders are supposed to be abhorrent self absorbed types who only have time for their reflections.

But here, they are treated like no cheerleaders have been treated before, and it makes for a much better film than one would expect. But it's not scary at all, there are not even any quiet......quiet......quiet.........BANG! Moments to get the blood pumping. We just get the school mascot chasing the cast around and every now and again firing an arrow in their general direction.

And as for the kills, they are pretty okay for a PG-13 film, but do stay safe not to test the censors, maybe somewhere in that Bring It On vaults, there is an unrated cut waiting to be released, in the vein of Terrifier.........imagine that.

But for someone who is new to this 23 year old franchise, I had a lot of fun with it. Yes, it's highly predictable, and some cheerleading skills are eased to save lives, but you would expect that coming from a film that features 90% Cheerleaders for the last two acts.

I can understand why some people wont like this, as it sits uncomfortably next to its brethren, but I liked it for all its silliness.

Bring It On, Cheer Or Die - Quality as a horror story.
annevejb6 September 2023
I personally find this to be the best of the Bring It On series. So far. That could be because the storyline follows Horror genre.

I had not expected an additional film in the series to be worthwhile. I was not surprised when I found Scream 5 to be disappointing. Scream 4 is peak Scream, but that has Wes driving it, Scream is his baby.

I also purchased the video stream of All Cheerleaders Die and I found a lot of that to be Cheer quality too. The flaw with that one, to me, is the soundtrack quality. It felt as if they had mixed a 5.1 to stereo in a way that had the front sound too muted. I need to check that further it might be a playback adjustment that was askew.
