Life on Mars
paul2001sw-128 October 2022
We live in a winner-takes-all world. You don't have to deny that Elon Musk has certain talents to nonethelesss deny that he has been rewarded out of all proportion to them. And that is dangerous: adored by millions, Musk has come to believe in his own legend, and to understand that he is so rich, he can more or less do whatever he wants. This documentary does reveal at least some of his faults; but it's also still rather in awe of him, and lacks the anger that would be righteously justified at the way one person has been granted so much power. Previous ages have had billionaires and celebrities; but their fusion is a very dangerous thing. I hope to live to see Musk's fall; but I wouldn't bet on it.

Enlightening and valuable

Ignore the poor overall rating (surely the result of people with a bone to pick).

This is a good documentary. Very well produced, with access to many key people in Musk's life - both business associates and family members - it is neither a hatchet job nor a hagiography.

Skilfully taking us through 25 years of Musk's career, and 50 years of his life, it reminds us of the many key moments in recent history that he has been involved in, and lets us make our own judgement on what he has achieved.

Musk himself is not interviewed, but archive material has been carefully selected to give context.

Whether you are a fan of Musk or not, this is well worth watching.

I respect Elon even more after seeing this

It's one thing to see occasional headlines, when someone fails or succeeds, but it's a different story when the whole timeline is presented to you, with all its ups and downs. This docuseries shows how hard the road to greatness is and how good you have to be, in many different aspects, to get your idea to fruition. In this case, we get to see a very different, from all other unicorn stories from the silicon valley. I recently rewatched the story of Theranos. Superimposed to this one, you can clearly see the difference between someone faking it and a genius trying to make it real. There will always be the uncomfortable truth of being ruthless towards those that can't keep up or have other priorities in life, but other aspects of this story are very different.

Good insight into Elon Musk
janbollaert20 October 2022
This documentary series gives a very good insight into Elon Musk's world, past, emotions and obviously all he has done over the last decades, which in itself is mind boggling.

This documentary is of very good quality, it also shows you plenty of interviews with family and co-workers and also an insight into how emotional he is. Steve Jobs might have been pretty cold and distant, Elon Mush certainly isn't. His honesty is refreshing.

It shows you in a very eloquent and in depth way his evolution from bullied little kid to one of the world's most innovative engineers and entrepreneurs. It's one hell of a ride.

Great documentary, a musk see if you don't know the man.

Warning: Spoilers
Elon Musk is a great genius, he put all his 'own' money into Tesla and SpaceX and still talks about 'us'; "each month that passes cost 'us' tens of millions of dollars". He never talks about himself.

Famous tweet of Elon: "About half my money is intended to help problems on Earth & half to help establish a self-sustaining city on Mars to ensure continuation of life (of all species) in case Earth gets hit by a meteor like the dinosaurs or WW3 happens & we destroy ourselves"

A UN official asked Elon to solve world hunger, it would only cost him 6B. Elon replied, give me a plan, make it public, and i will give the money instantly. The UN official gave all kind of excuses why he couldn't deliver a plan. This official probably knows how to fill his own pockets, but dies not have a plan to solve the problems he stands for. This is the sad part of the story.

Musk does not own properties, he lives in a $40k tiny house, rented, he works 100+ hours a week and still manage to spend time with his children.

Musk's/Tesla's mission is "To accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy.". They will not stop untill this goal is reached. Musk's/SpaceX's goal is to colonize Mars, which will be very very difficult and cost an insane amount of capital...

Than the fud, (fear, uncertainty and doubt) stories from the media, and the hate from teslaq ('q' as in bankrupt, a group of people wishing Tesla to fail), the website with the countdown till Tesla's failure, unbelievable the hate from some people's, the hate and envy to see people like Musk succeed while they themselves did not accomplish anything. If you understand Musk, you will understand how sick the people are hating the man without any reason other than Evy and fear of losing their power... Who is giving this documentary a rating of 1 out of 10? The same people living in their parents basement, hating themselves of failure, hating upon Musk? I guess there is a greater than 0 possibility..

The BBC/72 documentary "The Elon Musk Show" episode 1 gives a good impression how much effort and bravery it will take to reach the goals of Tesla and SpaceX. Well worth watching.

In my opinion, there will be many many episodes and seasons following, because the Tesla/SpaceX story just got started.

The best documentary that exists on Musk
drael647 January 2023
This documentary help paints a picture of his upbringing, his business journey, his personality, his social inclinations and general disposition in a way no other documentary on him does.

He's not a 'normal chill dude' as he's known for saying, but in exact what way, and how he came to be successful in the world changing ways he has is very well illustrated by this documentary.

Other documentaries focus more exclusively on his particular ventures, and those are also covered here, but this one gives real insight. Whatever you think of the man, as we know from psychology, it's the neurodivergent who push at the edges, and he's a good illustration.

for those...
ops-525354 November 2022
Who dont use twitter, drive a tezla, or do not feel the urge for asphixiation and radiation damage travelling to mars in a space shuttle signed by spacex, this is a perfect view at a historical epoque of human kind and development.

I'm just an A. I. , a grumpy old one sittinn my sofa wondering who this musky guy really is, and this production is almost the perfect prescription, but with some time gaps and other flaws of monumental importance (like health issues, is he reallywell?) ive seen 3 episodes and will follow up more...

just say that he has probably gaped over too much, and my concern is that the change of public appearance weve seen since 2016 is worrying, my personal message to elon is to rest a lot, like me lying on the sofa. The king of norway once said '' why rest standing when i can rest sitting, and why sit when you can lay down for a rest''. I think that is a sentence of reckognition that you should consider strongly...

i really wish this multimagnate all well, regardless of acts or appearance, hes just a little frightened man made of flesh and blood, like me and you and you and you...
