Moving!!!
angelika-6451826 November 2023
I mean....this serial was very moving for me. I am glad producers did not bleach the main character. I have not seen Mr. Jakubik on the screen for a long time (maybe I missed something), so this role gave him wings again. He was... so authentic...i am so shocked. But to be clear, all cast made a great job. :) This serial shows real problem of alkoholism and DDA. From the begining I've believed in batle the main character fought with himself, with his own fears and insecurities. All cameras close-ups was spot on! Sometimes I got lost in case that Kania tried to solve, but I think it is only because I was not focused enough.

Psychosleuth

Informacja swrotna (Feedback) uses the disappearance of an alcoholic ex-rockstar's son as the vehicle for an increasingly more difficult and treacherous self-discovering journey. Although Arkadiusz Jakubik as Marcin Kania tends to overact his younger drunken spells, he is quite convincing and this viewer (being a dry alcoholic since 1994) could both empathize and identify with him. Prospective viewers might expect the focus being the detective part of the story, which is important enough, but it really is a portrayal of the devastating effects alcohol can have on both the user and everyone else around him. He alienates his son and daughter and treats his wife as trash. In the end it's quite a fine character and case study and a severe warning. Thought-provoking material that won't sit easily with some people. 9/10.

Powerful

The series is based on a book by one of my favorite Polish authors. It portrays the story of an alcoholic attempting to locate his son upon waking up in his apartment and realizing he is missing, with only vague memories of the previous evening. This isn't a typical crime story, and the trailer is somewhat misleading. While the criminal aspect of the movie isn't the focal point, it does echo real events that unfolded in Warsaw during the '90s. Ruthless 'businessmen' were acquiring tenements, expelling mostly older tenants unable to afford new rents through various legal and illegal means. Subsequently, the properties were either leased to more affluent individuals or sold at significantly higher prices.

The narrative unfolds as the history of an alcoholic, documenting his journey through addiction and its profound impact on his family and friends. It is a heart-wrenching tale that leaves you speechless by the end. The excellent performances of Jakubik, Sierenberg (portraying his film son), and the rest of the cast contribute to making this, in my opinion, the most powerful mini-series in years.

Outstanding - watch it if only to find out why

Feedback is perhaps one of the best, if not the best series I've seen for quite some time. It is thoroughly honest.

I don't know how it is billed, whether as a 'thriller' or as a 'drama', but whatever it is, it pulls it off. But even saying that doesn't do it justice. That makes it sound as though it is just another piece of entertainment, and it is not that, by no means.

It's about alcoholism, self-hate, inability to communicate, family dynamics, love, all kinds of things. Best of all there's nothing 'clever-clever' about it at all: as I say it is thoroughly honest and that is very rare, even in films which try to be honest.

Perhaps I haven't made Feedback sound very attractive. Certainly it is sad, but part of its achievement is that it conveys hope in a very unexpected way. All I can do is recommend it and you can take it from their.

One word of warning: it would not be much appreciated by anyone who thinks Suits or Sex And The City acme of TV and streaming. If that is you, Feedback is most certainly not the series for you.

one best miniseries i ever seen
lopes22048 May 2024
Definitely one of the best miniseries I've ever seen. A strong story that perfectly shows the behavior of an alcoholic with his family and everyone around him and the devastating consequences, strong performances and impressive twists, it definitely deserves a 10, congratulations to Netflix for bringing the platform.

Unfortunately, there probably won't be a second season, but the message the series leaves is very strong and I recommend anyone who is abusing alcohol to watch it and use it as an example while it's not too late.

The protagonist perfectly portrays the behavior of a person with alcoholism problems, a great actor, the supporting actors also do a very good job.

Not an exciting thriller but excellent portrait of an alcoholic
Streaming-Kati19 November 2023
This Polish thriller series is about an alcoholic searching for his missing son and his memory. We accompany lead actor Arkadiusz Jakubik as Marcin Kania on his search. We always hear the thoughts going through his head through his voice off-screen. It quickly becomes clear that the focus here is on alcoholism and not primarily on the case of his missing son. This turns out to be more of an accessory. It is about a man's journey through binge drinking, followed by his occasional stay in therapy.

The former famous rock star wakes up covered in blood in the apartment of his estranged family and can barely remember what happened last night. Marcin remembers a dinner meeting with his son Piotrek, who spoke of a group of dangerous people and that his life could be in danger. Piotrek has been missing ever since and Marcin finds it difficult to remember that night. He then begins to search for his son.

The story unfolds very slowly. The protagonist deals with his addiction, which is so much in the foreground that the disappearance and the associated connections fade into the background. The director and writer make a point of showing that this illness can be a major problem not only for the person affected, but also for the family and friends around them. Alcoholism and the slide into severe mental health problems are closely linked, and care is taken to follow this path. It is a bleak world for those who are addicted to alcohol. The camera and sound support this in a successful way.

Arkadiusz Jakubik as Marcin Kania is the centerpiece of the show, and his performance as a drunkard who doesn't understand the effects of his habit allows the viewer to see his pain and arrogance up close.

Unfortunately, they forget to deal with the investigation, which should actually be the "main plot". Which is a shame, because the idea of the story with the boy is actually not uninteresting. But unfortunately, the suspense can't be sustained, because you are repeatedly pulled out of it by constant flashbacks or the mind game with himself and his addiction.

The makers could have presented both themes in a more balanced way, but unfortunately the narrative became repetitive after a certain point. As an audience, you can understand how serious alcoholism is, but beating around the bush only made the narrative trite and predictable. The emotional component in this work is extremely powerful. It creates feelings of depression, malevolence, terror and anxiety. All of these emotions are conveyed effectively, even if the story itself may not shine and lack a clear structure. It is also a pity that when there were texts in the examinations, unfortunately no translation was shown in subtitles. Even though the last half of the final episode is harrowing to the core, it couldn't lift the whole series for me.

------------- Conclusion:

Uninteresting - as a thriller, but it talks at length about how it affects the mental health of family and friends who are also subjected to abuse. My rating here is low as I am referring to the thriller and crime fiction section as it was advertised and I expected something different as a result. If you want to immerse yourself in a harrowing story about alcoholism, you can also be well entertained here. As a psychological drama, I would give it more points.

Amazing Acting Performance and Fascinating Scenario
purseofglitters25 March 2024
Lead character is spot on...felt so close to heart from the start...we loved him...wanted to reach out and hug him through his struggles. Don't reckon generations from Millennium and after, can appreciate this show as much as us (peeps who are 45+ today) lot do. What a marvel the lead actor is!...we totally relished his performance. Screenwriter definitely deserves our Kudos. Witty script, well acted keeps us at our toes. This is a Show that calls for 100% of your attention..you miss out if you read an incoming message on your phone. Full of twists..manages to keep suspense in tact till the end. Amazing drama and Fascinating Crime Drama all tossed in one. WE absolutely adore this Piece of Art of a TV Series.
