Episode 3 (Loke Bole) was my favourite
SoumikBanerjee19966 May 2022
E01 (Ei Building e Meye Nished):- A much fearsome and comparatively more productive interpretation of a popular folktale (Mecho-Petni). Although the narrative here may come off as banal, it's the presentation however that I feel more than makes up for its lack of substance! 7/10

E02 (Mishti Kichu):- A more well-rounded story this time with Chanchal Chowdhury in prime focus, and as always he had done justice with his character.

Not only his performance but the narration itself is better illustrated through a multitude of different elements. You've got conversations on morality, a subtle yet crucial psychological angle and sprinkles of chilling horror specified facets. An effective amalgamation. 8.5/10

E03 (Loke Bole):- The epitome of top-notch narration along with a neat world-building, full of superstitious tales. By far the most atmospheric and the most unsettling piece out of the three. With a beautiful location and an immaculate sound design; the combination of these two makes the exhibition even more so meaningful. 9/10

E04 (Nishir Daak):- Not as immersing or deserving as the previous three still the story seeks an important subject that shouldn't be disregarded. Depression & Folktale together cultivated quite a fascinating mixture of natural and supernatural calamities. 6.5/10.

New for Bangladesh. Episode 2 and 3 just nailed it!!
alifmlikhonunivdu29 April 2022
Episode 2 and 3 are beautifully depicted! The concept and storytelling is beautiful. Episode 1 and 4 are average! Needed improvements. But for Bangladesh's platform it's something new. Experienced some of our childhood horors in the screen! The casts tried to play he roles beautifully. Especially Chanchal Sir really nailed it in the Episode 2. And the newcomers in the episode 3 did really good. The storytelling way of Nuhash Humayun Vai is really praiseworthy. I just felt international in the storyline and depiction of the story. Really happy to such a series in our own country's online platform.

One of the best contents after ages in Bangladesh.
mehedi-aiub30 April 2022
Recent so-called content creators, directors, writers should learn from this original content or just stop creating low quality contents. A new hope for Bangladesh. Thanks Nuhash Humayun for these awesome Bengali folk tales. Episode 2 and 3 are just 10/10 no doubt.

One of the best content of Bangladeshi OTT platform
rafiulroxy16 April 2022
This is second episode review

I would say one of the best works of the OTT platform in Bangladesh so far.

Awesome concept, awesome execution..a 30 minute episode will make you think without much. What was not here! Miracles, philosophy, psychology, mysteries of the universe, faith are all great signs of disbelief. All in all an impeccable psycho-horror content.

Chanchal Chowdhury, Afzal Hossain, Nowshabar will impress you. Through this work as a director, "Nuhash Humayun" made his strong position known.

Waiting for last two episodes.

First time seeing such extraordinary creation made in BD
ashraks30 April 2022
These short episode of stories will not give you chills always but you will definitely feel something that will keep in your mind for quite a sometime.

Also our traditional horror stories will live long through this creation.

HATS OFF TO NUHAS HUMAYUN.

More than average...

Cinematography was good. Bgm was also perfect. But I think the stories should be more detailed. Episode 3 & 4 were amazing.

As a bangladeshi mini series it was good.

Something fresh.
iffatmeem2 May 2022
The first episode did not appeal to me in the least. After watching episode 1, I had my doubts regarding the overall quality of the series. That's all there is to it.

In regards to episode 2, the beginning was fantastic, and I was immediately hooked. However, they were unable to maintain the essence till the very end ( obviously in my opinion). It could have a more satisfying conclusion.

And then there's Episode 3, which is a work of art. My God, it's so brilliantly done. I was hypnotized. 10/10.

Episode 4 was also enjoyable, however the end was predictable. I guess it would be better if they chose another actress Except Masuda khan, i didn't like her performance at all.

Good one!
shuvra12411 May 2022
Episode 2,3 was excellent, episode 1, 4 was little more boring. I will give 8/9 out of 10, but sound editor ruined it. Voice so low, if increase volume for listen voice, "dhum-dham" music sound make u uncomfortable. "Vai atka sound dia voy dekhanor dorkar nai, story diai voy lagano jay!"

Nuhash, you beauty!

Outstanding series...I struggle to find words which can highlight just how impressed I was with the writing, screenplay, cinematography and production quality of Pett Kata Shaw. Within the very first minute of watching the first episode I knew i was in for a thrilling ride, and my judgement did not falter.

The direction, acting and themes were simply superb, making each story more intriguing as the last. The attention to detail was mind blowing and truly commendable, from relatable dialogues to witty scene cuts.

The series had culture, horror, suspense, characterization and social commentary so captivating that it left my family and I at the edge of our seats as we seeped in every minute of the short anthology eyes wide open.

If this is the direction Bengali entertainment is headed towards, I am very thrilled indeed. Keep going Nuhash, you are destined for great things...and the Bengali audience who has been deprived of good content for way too long, will definitely support you.

Average. Don't fall for the Hype.
public_eye14 April 2022
Had a very high hope for this series as Nuhash Humayun was the creator of this content. But after the first episode I felt it was a let down. The self narrative style was not that good. Dialogues were boring. Acting was bellow average. Hope that next episodes will live up to the hype.

Rushed and felt Sore
Biskuitt29 April 2022
Chorki/-Redwan Rony promised us quality content but this series falls short on many aspects. As this anthology series is based on supernatural, unexplainable events; I will avoid all sorts of contemporary logic.

Episode 1 : Ei Building a Meye Nished

Pros
  • Good start
  • Good cinematography
  • Great acting
  • Great location selection
  • Good lighting
  • Great pace

Cons
  • Extremely bad makeup
  • Bad Foley (if you don't know the meaning, search it up)
  • Rushed ending
  • Bad CG

Episode 2 :Mishti Kichu

Pros
  • Good start
  • Good cinematography
  • Great acting
  • Great location selection
  • Good lighting
  • Great casting

Cons
  • Bad screenplay
  • Bad pace
  • Galaxy, science, E = mc2 like what? Why include these?

Episode 3 : Loke Bole

Pros
  • Everything was mind blowing (almost!)

Cons
  • Rushed ending

Episode 4 : Nishir Daak

Pros
  • Good location
  • Good cinematography

Cons
  • Bad casting
  • Bad acting
  • Bad dubbing
  • Bad screenplay
  • Bad dialogue
  • Bad CG
  • Bad pickup
  • Pace was horrible.

Final verdict : Almost all of the episodes had rushed or poorly executed endings. Like in episode 1 (Ei Building a Meye Nished), the ending was generic 101. Why finish the episode with an absurd jumpscare attempt from behind? Could just show that the narrator's wife came out of the room to meet with the boys and then the boys noticed that the wife's legs are pointing backward?

In episode 2 (Mishti Kichu), was it important to show what type of Djinn they are opposing/meeting? This episode's ending was also executed in poor manner but not as bad as episode 1. Pace was everywhere, pickup was ruined. Actors of such caliber do not deserve it and I felt sad.

Episode 3 (Loke Bole) was great. It had everything. Ending felt rushed and the director could have given this episode another 2-3 minutes for a better ending. The superstition of untied hair is for girls/women only, not for the guys. Instead could have used a different available superstition like "Do not pee in the jungle after sunset/midnight" or something else.

Episode 4 (Nishir Daak) was an all in all, a bad episode. Everything was bad. Only the location and cinematography had a highlighting standard. Another thing that messed up the charm of this episode was the stock CG used to glorify the scary eyes. What a missed opportunity there not to use the available camera crews and their skill for the horror factors. Also, what's up with all the research documents in the notebook/ipad?

Sometimes, Showing less is showing a lot. It has been a long lurking issue with our country's film/drama/movie industry creators, directors making content with a great start but finishing it with bad-poorly executed ending. When will our approach change? Also, why bother making 20-30 minutes long episodes with 4-5 episodes per season? That's just illogical. Instead make a movie. Foreign industries opt for a series or season because it is illogical to make a 10+ hour long movie. OTT producers are failing to grasp the recipe of OTT based series. It is acceptable that cable channels make 20-30 minute episodes because they have time slots but why are the OTT platforms following the same structure as cable channels? Isn't OTT supposed to be better and independent? Or the recent show, series creators/directors/producers do not have the capability or skill to create long & sizable quality contents? A famous director once said, "Actors are the quality of the car's gasoline, cinematography is the smell inside of the car, the story is how many people are in the car; too many people, nasty environment but too few people, kills the environment but ending of a story is the person who is driving the car. A bad driver can kill everyone but a good driver will carry everyone." Just Alas.

An anthology worth craving for
suprabhattacharya19 June 2022
Ep 1:A short purely obedient to Bengali horror in fables, but it had nothing to do otherwise. It is explicit in what it shows, nothing great about this one and it doesn't even try to peek deeper. It is a campy one but still an interesting watch.

Ep 2:It exfoliates slowly into a unprecedented climax which works brilliantly

Ep 3:This broody atmospheric short traces the origin of Bengali superstitions in a village. The spectacular sound design, color grading celebrate the technical prowess of the segment.

Ep 4:Grief,guilt,remorse morphed with horror, the final segment of the anthology is fascinating to experience. The tropes of a old folklore is realized through the modern lens of a urban life.

Picks up from the second episode
mariahossain955 December 2022
The first episode, in my opinion, is a bit meh. It picks up on the quality from the second episode. The best, in my opinion, is the last episode. It's one of my favorite superstitions and the plot was amazing. Without spoiling anything, I'll say this one ties up all the other episodes' stories in a neat knot. Most of the actors aren't huge superstars, but they act really well. There aren't many jumpscares like you'll find in American movies and series. Bengali horror isn't like that. It sneaks in like mist and pounces once it has the audience in their grips. Do watch it, Bengali horror series based on our own superstitions.
