An interesting, if slightly muddled first episode.

A family return to their country home in Monmouthshire to discover an unwelcome object ona tree, two Detectives arrive on their front door. DI Jack Caffery is desperately searching for information about his brother's death, could there be a link?

I've constantly been told to watch this, apparently it's right up my Street, I can't say I was blown away by this first episode, but I am certain there's a lot more to come.

This is perhaps the strangest, most weird thing I've seen in a long time, anything early stage, the story seems absolutely all over the place, it is quite literally here, there and everywhere.

Some good elements, I thought Juliet Stevenson was excellent, I'm sure Sacha Dhawan and Iwan Rheon will add a whole lot more soon, two very, very capable actors. I was quite impressed with Sachs's Welsh accent, not bad at all.

I'm not sure I followed every detail, but I'm definitely intrigued by the storyline.

Weird, but engaging.

When crime writer Mo Hayder died in 2021, it also emerged that blonde glamour girl Candy Davis had also died. She was better known as sexy Miss Belfridge in the last two series of the BBC sitcom Are You Being Served?

Candy Davis had reinvented herself as the author of the Jack Caffey books.

The opening episode has two parallel and seemingly unconnected stories.

Maverick detective Jack Caffrey (Ukweli Roach) has been obsessed with finding out what happened to his brother who is believed to have been murdered in the 1990s. He thinks the murderer has moved across the road.

The Anchor-Ferrers family have moved back to Wales but they are still recovering from a murderous event that took place five years earlier. A man called Minnet Kable was convicted for the homicide of two teenagers.

However strange things occur in the grounds of the house. They find some intestines on a tree and the phone line has been cut. Two police officers knock on the door, DI Honey (Sacha Dhawan) and DS Molina (Iwan Rheon) about another nearby murder and get inside the house.

This was certainly a dark twisted first episode. The music had a constant sense of dread as it encroaches into a home invasion nightmare.

This was a strong opener with Dhawan and Rheon having more twisted roles.
