THEY'RE AFTER ME

Warning: Spoilers
This is an interesting Canadian Indie style movie. It appears to be a do-over of the 2002 film "Fabled" although this is 128 minutes as opposed to "Fabled" 84 minutes. It is a mystery/thriller and occasional dark comedy.

Joseph (Desmond Askew) is paranoid...or is he? His girlfriend and dog have both left him. He suspects his ex-girlfriend is cheating on him with a psychologist that they share. He can't locate his dog, even though he has a chip inserted. People are following him...and talking about him. There is even an interoffice memo being circulated about him!

We know a few things. Joseph is on prescription meds which he freely mixes with alcohol. Joseph has a friend who he confides in. They share a secret which we don't know too much about other than it appears to be about Joseph using a gun and his ex-gf knows about it.

While the movie is playing there is a fable being told by a child about a lonely wolf, Lupold (symbolic of our Joseph) who is being manipulated by a clever Raven. The movie draws you in. Is Joseph really crazy as the title suggests or is there a "raven" manipulating him? We cleverly get clues that lead us in two directions. And what is his secret that makes him think he is being followed? As Joseph pops more pills, the movie becomes more interesting.

The supporting cast is very plain and dull by comparison with expected lines, done purposely (I suppose) to enhance Joseph's paranoia. Good performance by Desmond Askew. I enjoyed the ending...you may not.

F-bomb, no sex, no nudity.
