Jack doesn't drag Tim to go see his own wife and son. Tim is dragged to go see his son and his ex girlfriend. While Amy stays back to help Janice with a young racehorse. You see the only time Tim was married was when he was married to Marion Amy and Lou's mother and he finds out at the end of season 4 that Shane is his son.
This episode though is a very crazy one and though the show changes every so often it is still a great series and this episode is really fun to watch.
