- House of Hope tracks the parallel journey of two young mothers, Kim and Desiree, who find themselves facing the difficult and precarious prospect of losing their homes, their children and their freedom. The young women, who suffered extreme emotional trauma as young children themselves, also reflected in their adult substance abuse and on ongoing life crises. Running from these issues as adults, the women are ultimately forced to confront their issues by a judge and given the prospect of either going to jail or entering the House of Hope for live-in intense treatment and life change therapy. Will they embrace the treatment and save their children and themselves? Like many women in their position, Kim and Desiree, secretly resist the treatment initially, planning only to go through the motions and get through the program as quickly as possible, in order to get back to their usual routine. But as they go deeper into treatment, working with a team of counselors and mentors, despite their resistance, the treatment begins to take hold. The women begin to experience a deep emotional change. The anger and fear that was trapped deep in their hearts and minds from traumatic childhood experience slowly emerges and dissipates. With new tools in hand, Kim and Desiree find the ability to begin release their old emotional scars, and habits start building a new joyful life.—Anonymous
