Love Svengoolie. Sventoonie? Getting Better!

I just watched the Sventoonie treatment of "House On Haunted Hill." It rushed through this classic movie in 15 minutes, adding a few bad jokes along the way. It spent the remaining 15 minutes with filler nonsense that had virtually nothing to do with the movie. None of it was funny.

Bring back "Star Trek" (the original series) in this time slot!

UPDATE: The newer episodes of Sventoonie are spending more time on riffing bad movies and less time on irrelevant bits. I am therefore increasing my rating to 5 stars!

Sventoonie.. it's a puppet. It's OK. It's not amazing, but, it's not bad either. It's just kind of there, on before Batman but not before Svengoolie. It's just a show. You can't really call it entertaining, but it's not boring. I don't know how to describe Sventoonie other than it's just a show.

He is coming back for a second season in October 2022. Will it be good? I don't know.

It is quirky and unexpected. If you are new to horror, it cuts through in a way to give a reason to tune in the following Saturday. Whoever referred to Adult Swim is spot on. Enjoy the wandering thoughts and silly humor. Don't take it seriously and just enjoy its whimsy which is why it is even more needed after a long week.

absurdist humor

I love Svengoolie, but this is a different show, so don't expect the shtick to be the same. Where Svengoolie is a lovingly corny and punny, Sventoonie is absurd humor. If you like Adult Swim animation, this is your speed. If you wanted a puppet clone of Svengoolie, it's probably not for you.

Sventoonie is hilarious in my opinion, I love the horror movie summaries and the fake music videos. I hope they make many more episodes!

It's ridiculous and that's the best thing about the show. Trevor is super funny and the musical satire is great. It's made Saturday Nights on METV even more entertaining. I look forward to it all week.

This show deserves a ZERO. Shows that he'll do anything for money. Also, he never stops hawking his goods. To think that they replaced Star Trek (even though, ST was moved to a later hour), and replaced it with this crap, is unbelievable. I like the B movies that Svengoolie shows, but Sventoonie, is a sub par rip off of Mystery Science Theater 3000. I'm surprised the creators of MST 3000, haven't taken action against this, yet. Don't waste your time, it's just plain stupid, and annoying.

Hilarious hosted horror show

Full of wit and clever writing, Sventoonie is the perfect after party for Svengoolie! The skits are hysterical and the movie recaps are loaded with jokes and move at a breakneck pace.

I truly hope that the ratings warrant moving the show from a limited run to a recurring program.

Toonie I never tire of you. Trevor is ok but i wish bill was doing more I dont have cable so im stuck.

But its a good kind of stuck.

Everything about this show really appeals to my sense of humor. It's quick witted and disgusting at the same time. I love Toony and Trevor and Blob E Blob. What an amazing combination of hosts to make it one of the strangest shows on television today. Also enjoy them giving commentary to the films in sort of an MST3K manner. Sooooo funny when they do the "Oopser Doopsers" too. Lol I hope they continue with this show because it's soooo original and genuinely hilarious. LOVE YOU SVENTOONIE!!!!

I can't get enough of these weirdos! What a great way to keep the Svengoolie feel "alive" for another 30 minutes. This show is absolutely strange and the characters are just nuts. Lol really really love this show.

It's that bad, almost as bad as the characters on the "Toon in with ME" drivel that Weigel poisons the biosphere with every weekday. I'm trying to decide who the target audience is: either those involuntary committed to institutions for criminal insanity or those who ingest psychedelics at early or all hours... to be sure it's simply a (clever?) marketing ploy to sell as much cheaply made merchandise made in China that ends up further poisoning the planet in our landfills.

The show is not funny. I realize that Rich Koz is getting up there in years (70), but let's not replace him before it's time with more of the red sock puppet that society is already tortured with. To eviscerate a classic like the Night of the Living Dead and bump Star Trek to a later hour borders on Sci-Fi manslaughter.

Next up will be Leila Gorstein brought into the show for some of her lame comedy.

Seeing the mistakes and/or explaining how special effects are done, ruins the programs for me; be they movies or series.

A lot of angry people out there. Judge for yourself. Maybe you'll like it, maybe you won't.

I think it's great. Absurdist humor, written by some very talented people who obviously love their subject matter. And probably partake in edibles, considering how weird it sometimes gets. As another reviewer said, definitely an Adult Swim vibe.

They accomplish a lot on a limited budget. Some decent SFX, good music and editing.

I think it fits right in as a follow-up to Svengoolie.

My kids and wife love watching Svengoolie every week with me and since Sventoonie came on it gives us a reason to stay up an extra 30 minutes for more horror comedy.

I'm happy that they're continuing with Sventoonie as I feel it's a great contribution to METV and letting our younger generation experience the films we grew up with in a fun way.

Thank you METV for letting this show have more than the original planned 7 episodes. That makes our hearts happy.

I love this show. It's so outrageous and fun! All the jokes are so weird and horrorific. Blob E Blob's sound effects really put an extra grossness in there. Honestly I can see this being a regular thing for quite some time. Don't listen to the haters, give this show a try!

Absolutely awful show. I'd rather watch 12 hours of senior citizens playing bingo or paint dry from a freeway onramp. Please don't make this a permanent thing.

It's campy. It's cheesy. It's a ton of fun!! And it's a great little fun show after Svengoolie, like a joke-filled horror after party. The riffs on aaplf horror movies in the first half are hilarious, followed by comedy bits with various characters each week. LUV it!!

Why is MeTv putting this show on? Fleming ISN'T FUNNY. Awful characters. Writing SUCKS. And Sventoonie singing is painful to hear. These shows and those who create. Write. And ' act' prove just how terrible tv has become. I don't watch them. But the promos on MeTv are slipped in. How long before the network realizes that the viewing public isn't fond of this dribble. What next? Goldie getting her own traveler show? Leila Gorstein characters are RIDICULOUS. Proves you DONT NEED TALENT to get paid TO PROVE IT!

Every time Trevor pops up with his huge goofy smile I start cracking up. Blob E Blob's squishy sounds are so nasty and it fits so well in the mix. Lol Sventoonie is hands down one of the best things to happen to METV next to Svengoolie and Toon In With Me. Kevin Fleming is doing amazing work and you can really see how much fun the whole crew has on the set. Lots of love to Sventoonie, Svengoolie and the whole crew of METV!

Perfect balance between stupid, and hilarious. I love the short format for the films. Carrying on in a long line of late Saturday night horror shows. Cut my teeth on the likes of houlahan, and big chuck, and the ghoulardy shows. Never better.

Sventoonie is a quite likeable red puppet fish with a great attitude towards fun! His friends that show up to help with the stories and skits really bring out a certain energy that hasn't been matched on TV today.

It's very high energy so people that are into the slower aspect of METV might not understand it but after Svengoolie it's a perfect "After-party" show.

Love love love the songs and silly commentary for the films, and cutting them down to fit into a short skit is genius.

If you're into high energy gross comedy horror shows then this is for you!!!

ENJOY!!

Please, cancel this abomination and end our collective misery.

We were promised that this would be a limited-run show. When will it end? Dear god, when will it end?!

Do you like classic horror movies? Good, so do a lot of people. But what if instead of taking the time to develop a unique host with audience rapport, we took an irritating bit character and made it a pale imitation of another show? Every show needs its "thing" that makes it its own, so instead of showing the whole movie we'll cut a two hour movie down to fifteen minutes and then talk over most of it. Eureka! We've crafted a shambling mess of a program that loudly broadcasts the inability and unwillingness of the hosts and producers to present something halfway engaging!

There are many Horror Host shows that do much more with much, much less, like Cinema Insomnia, so a program with the financial backing of a OTA TV network should --theoretically-- have no problem filling thirty minutes with something that doesn't have me lunging for the remote when I hear the end credits of the preceding show.

It's not so bad it's good, it's objectively poor and a tedious chore to watch. Toonie the puppet is a weak "Triumph The Insult Comic Dog" imitation as a part of their "Toon In With Me" show and Sventoonie is a lazy amalgamation of that equally irritating show and the wonderfully endearing Svengoolie. Sventoonie is a cynical marketing ploy to sell advertising space that actively harms Rich Koz's legacy and image as a beloved horror host.

I love Sventoonie so much!!! It is great - look forward to it every week! You can tell alot of hard work is put into it and I very much appreciate it! I love watching toon in with me and I love Sventoonie.
