Sigh...Go ahead and hate me
marymcfarland-0186625 March 2022
I don't even know why I'm still watching this. From the start, it was always kind of a filler show for me. I stuck with it because I like Gary.

The kids are irritating. The adults are entitled. They try to create relatable and socially relevant story lines, but...it just does not gel.

Cue the hate for me.

The human experience

This show has always been a great and sometimes gut wrenching depiction of the human experience. (Especially for a cable show) Just because some of the people look different or have different backgrounds does not make their stories political. They're human.

A show about everything...
psicotraumamexico7 April 2022
A show about everything, ends up being a show about nothing.

It was a good show, a good idea, but it ended up being way too complicated.

Complicated characters, complicated lives, complicated secrets. I know life can be like that, but this is just unwatchable.

Boring ...
bringmehossenfeffer19 April 2022
I have watched AMLT since it debuted and it started off wth a bang! I have been a loyal a faithful viewer then season 4 came... I was so excited then boom...let down, and let down hard. It just feels so fake and mundane... it's almost like I can feel them reading the script infront of them? Everyone is always sad or whiney and the little boy T, he is just too mature for his age and as well as he is a beautiful child, his character is waaaay too perfect. I don't know any kid like T... again fake.

The sets feel like sets... none of the homes feel "lived in" and I find Eddie and Katherine's relationship over the top "too friendly". I'm sorry but I had to get this off of my chest. It's just bad... and that's saddens me because I always loved it.

Turn Woke

This show was good but this season it has dropped the ball hard. I'm done with it. The storyline is trash now, acting and directing is trash and even the camerawork is trash.

A Great Show
That has achieved a new low in wasting talent on promoting a meaningless political agenda. Disappointed in all participants, ABC, but I do relish this was the first Favorite TV show I have had to turn off without finishing an episode by choice. Well done, this is the stray that has convinced me to cancel cable TV.

What a Waste

I really like this series. Unfortunately some of the episodes and there agendas are just hard for me to watch. The funny thing is, I will probably be looked at as a villain for my opinion. I think there is a great cast and plenty of stories to tell without pursuing political and sensitive subjects that alienate half or more of the audience. I love the show but I don't like to have things forced on me. I just want to enjoy what is potentially a great show.

From excellent to less than average...
verag6810 December 2023
This show started so good. I absolutely loved the first and even second season. Great story about a group of friends and what they go through plus the added "mystery" of why Jon killed himself.

Now it's all about dealing with every political correct item. You have it all. Racism (total obsession with that subject by now, I find myself fast forwarding most of Rome's story, it's just unwatchable), a gay character, one that turns lesbian, one that's in a wheelchair, Asian, black, white. Like most American shows nowadays seems every group of friends or team needs to include one of everything. Totally unrealistic.

Add to that the fully and completely unrealistic good relationship between ex couples (on top of the already unrealistically good relationship between wife and lover we've had from the beginning) and overly mature kids (Theo specially), it just becomes too much.

It's a pity, because it was a real good show. I just keep watching because I like Gary & Maggie, and got attached to Eddie and Regina. Couldn't care less about all the other stories.
