Missy Elliott leads her own girl group, Missy and the Demeanors, in her new video for “Why I Still Love You.”
The clip — co-directed by Missy and Derek Blanks — starts off with a little girl looking at a portrait of a Sixties girl group leader (played by Missy) in a museum. Her mother (the R&b singer Monica in a cameo) tells the little girl that Missy and the Demeanors were an iconic girl group throughout the decades, leading into a dream sequence where Missy performs with her backing trio in the Sixties,...

YouTube star and comedian Liza Koshy will preside over a dance-competition reality series coming to Quibi — a kind of mashup of “So You Think You Can Dance” and “Wipeout.”
In “Floored,” two opposing teams of skilled dancers will try their best to perform a routine while the dance floor itself actually lifts, tilts, drops, shakes and spins in time to the music. The dancers also will have to dodge objects that will thrown their way.
“As someone who hosts dance parties of one in their living room, I am more than ready to host this one,” Koshy said in a statement. “I’m so excited to celebrate and scream for the fearless, the focused and the flexible as they step up to the plate… or floor.”
It’s the latest in a steady stream of programming-deal announcements from Quibi, the ambitious and untested short-form mobile subscription service led by Jeffrey Katzenberg and CEO Meg Whitman.

It's been 17 years since Missy Elliott dropped her legendary "Work It" music video, and the epic dance moves still live on. When Elliott accepted the Video Vanguard Award at the MTV VMAs on Aug. 26, she delivered an incredible performance that featured plenty of energetic choreography, including a brief solo by none other than Alyson Stoner.
You might remember Stoner (now 26 years old) as the iconic little girl from Elliott's "Work It" and "Gossip Folks" videos. Almost two decades later, she still has the talent and a matching sweatsuit - yellow, this time.

Stoner paid tribute to her former collaborator during the VMAs performance, and for a second, it felt like the early '00s all over again. Many things have changed, but our awe for Stoner's dancing (and our respect for Elliott) remain the same.

The 2019 MTV Video Music Awards was full of memorable moments, and Alyson Stoner's epic moves during Missy Elliott's performance was certainly one of them. For those who didn't catch the number, the 26-year-old actress came out in a yellow tracksuit and busted out some sweet steps to "Work It." The viral moment was a throwback for many fans as Stoner starred in the original music video. "@AlysonStoner it's been 17 years since we did 'Work It' and over the years people always ask me where is that lil girl from your video 'Work It,'" Elliott tweeted after the big night. "So I couldn't of done this Vma performance without you there! Love you. Thank you so...

In case you've forgotten that Missy Elliott is unf*ckwithable, please look toward her mind-boggling MTV Video Vanguard performance at the 2019 VMAs and get with the program! The 48-year-old took the MTV stage to perform for the first time since 2003, and it was pretty much everything a fan could ever dream of: an electrifying medley of her greatest hits (of which there are many) including "The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)," "Throw It Back," "Get Ur Freak On," "Work It," "Pass That Dutch," and "Lose Control."
Just like her iconic music videos, Elliott's performance gave us nostalgic dances, epic hairstyles, and elaborate sets that included cornfield imagery, a rainstorm, the surface of a fiery planet, a UFO, and more. To quote Cardi B, the performance was "Fire!" (And possibly the best moment of the night.) MTV could have ended the show right then and we all would have gone to bed satisfied.

The MTV Video Music Awards belonged to Missy Elliott on Monday night - everything and everyone else was just background noise.
The legendary rapper and hip-hop star hit the stage about halfway through the award show in Newark, NJ, to perform a truly epic set before accepting the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. After dancing and belting out hits like "The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)," "Throw It Back," "Get Ur Freak On," and "Work It," she was introduced by Cardi B and delivered a heartfelt, teary-eyed speech touching on her legacy in the music industry.
"I promised I wouldn't cry because I cry every award [show], but the Video Vanguard Award means so much to me," she said. "I have worked diligently for over two decades. I never thought I'd be standing up here . . . it don't go unnoticed, the support and love you've shown me over the years."

Back in the early 2000s, Alyson Stoner was a mainstay in Missy Elliott's music videos, including "Work It" and "Gossip Folks" - and though the little girl we all wanted to be is now an adult, she hasn't forgotten about the artist who gave her her big break. Alyson, now 26, recently reunited with Missy at the MTV VMAs as part of her Video Vanguard Award medley. She wowed the crowd with her breakdancing and backflips, proving that she'll be working it forever.
In 2015, Alyson also paid homage to her former collaborator with an awesome dance routine done to a medley of Missy's hits, which she posted to her YouTube channel. The dancer and actress enlisted the help of Monica Parales, who also danced in the "Gossip Folks" video. Lil Nas X took home the well-deserved award for song of the year at the 2019 MTV VMAs, and of course the "Old Town Road" rapper came prepared with a speech. After thanking Billy Ray Cyrus for taking his career "to the next level" as he stood on stage with Miley's dad, the 20-year-old singer cutely said, "Oh, and I brought a speech." He then took out a scroll and unraveled it to reveal a lengthy paper that fell all the way to the floor.
The funniest part is he was already done with his speech entirely, and he let the joke sink in as Billy Ray moved over to take the mic. The camera panned to the audience, and we all got to see Lizzo's reaction, which summed up exactly how everyone felt in the moment. The "Good as Hell" singer, who brought down the house with an empowering performance of her own,...

Alyson Stoner will never forget how to put her thing down, flip it and reverse it. Way back when in 2002, the then-pigtailed Disney Channel actress starred in Missy Elliott's "Work It" video. (And later was featured in "Gossip Folks" and "I'm Really Hot.".) Now, 17 years later, she's still serving as the icon's no. 1 hype girl. Take the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards, for example. On Monday night, Alyson once again joined the rapper to perform her signature dance during Missy's set. Of course, the epic moves onstage at New Jersey's Prudential Center looked effortless. And, as it turns out, they actually were. When was...

New Jersey saw its first MTV Video Music Awards this year, and the state repped hard with the cast of “The Sopranos” taking the stage and The Jonas Brothers performing off-site at legendary Asbury Park venue The Stone Pony. Fans celebrated the legacy of Missy Elliott as she was awarded with this year’s Video Vanguard Award, late-addition Miley Cyrus performed her single “Slide Away” and Lizzo brought down the house with renditions of “Truth Hurts” and “Good as Hell” in front of a giant inflatable derriere. But there’s much more that happened behind-the-scenes and far out of cameras’ reach at Newark’s Prudential Center on Aug. 26.

Young artists ruled the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards with top prizes going to 20-somethings Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande and Lil Nas X, plus teenager Billie Eilish. Missy Elliott performed a medley of famous hits at the MTV Video Music Awards on Monday. Her dazzling set included “Throw It Back,” “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly),” “Get Ur Freak On,” “Work It,” “Pass That Dutch,” and “Lose Control.”
Elliott opened her performance with her newest song, “Throw It Back” — a surprising choice given the numerous hits in her back-catalog. But in the context of her medley, Elliott’s latest track took on a new significance: The bass line merged smoothly with the low-end of “The Rain (Super Fly),” her debut single.

“Bad Moms” has been the most consistent franchise for Stx since the first film debuted in 2016 and grossed $183 million worldwide. “A Bad Moms Christmas,” which released in 2017, grossed $130 million worldwide. Both films were made on a production budget below $30 million.

Missy Elliott's induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame on Jan. 12 proves the hustle is worth it. The Grammy Award-winning artist made history as the first female rapper and third rapper ever to receive the honor, following Jermaine Dupri's nomination last year and Jay-z's in 2017.

Missy Elliott surprised viral star Mary Halsey on Ellen on Thursday. The pair performed Elliott’s hit “Work It” together on the daytime talk show.
Halsey went viral on Twitter for her performance of “Work It” at an annual karaoke picnic in her hometown. In the clip, Halsey held a shofar and performed the 2002 single with barely any assistance from the karaoke screen. It picked up steam online after Elliott herself tweeted it out and called Halsey her “funky white sister.”

Mary Halsey, the woman who went viral for her rendition of Missy Elliott's hit "Work It," appeared on Thursday's episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show and got the ultimate surprise when the rapper joined her on the stage. As fans will recall, Halsey was catapulted into internet fame this summer after she posted a video of her rapping the song at Goddard Park in Rhode Island. Elliott was such a fan of her performance that she shared it on Twitter and solidified her status as the artist's "funky white sister." "It was a shock. I never expected this," Halsey told host Ellen DeGeneres. "I put it out there and said, 'You want to go viral?' But I never thought it...

“World of Dance” front-runners The Lab took a big risk during their second and final performance in the World Final. The Junior Team Division winners are a hip-hop crew known for delivering bangers — their first performance of the night was to “Work It” by Missy Elliott — so they took their mentor Ne-Yo and the rest of the judges by surprise by picking a more contemplative song for a more emotionally resonant piece: “Waiting on the World to Change” by John Mayer. It wasn’t your typical showstopper. Watch it above.
After the first round of performances The Lab were on top of the judges’ leaderboard, so it all came down to them at the end of the night. During their mentoring session Ne-Yo let them know tat emotion was going to be the name of the game if their last performance was going to be such a significant artistic departure.

Exclusive: YouTube has given a pilot order to It’s a Man’s World (working title), a provocative half-hour comedy taking on gender inequality in the gaming industry. It is written by Smash creator Theresa Rebeck and produced by Christina Wayne’s Assembly Entertainment in association with ITV Studios America.
It’s a Man’s World, written by Rebeck with an original script by Heidi Schreck (Billions), centers on Emma, a successful video game design executive and the sole breadwinner for her family who is used to dodging the land mines that come with being a woman in a male-dominated field.
When she gets fired without explanation and finds that she’s being blacklisted by everyone in her industry, Emma decides to dress as a man to get a new job and to continue supporting her family. As strange and politically incorrect as Emma’s new life may be, she...

The royals — they're just like us! Seriously this time, though. Photos of Prince Harry's college dorm room at Eton College recently resurfaced, and one A-list star noticed something very interesting about one of the photos. Halle Berry took to Twitter to call out the Duke of Sussex for having a poster of the actress on his wall! "Ok #PrinceHarry, I see you! #HalleBerryPosta," she tweeted on Wednesday, Aug. 29 referring to the lyrics in Missy Elliott's 2002 hit song "Work It." Ok #PrinceHarry, I see you!

A teenage Prince Harry seemingly had a crush on Halle Berry! Photos from the royal's dorm at boarding school Eton College have resurfaced online, showing a smiling Harry sitting in his room. Among the personal items shown in the photos, taken in May 2003, are a picture of his mother, the late Princess Diana, as well as a poster of actress Halle. After seeing the photos of Harry's dorm posted on Twitter on Wednesday, the Oscar winner replied, "Ok #PrinceHarry, I see you! [rolling on the floor laughing emoji] #HalleBerryPosta @MissyElliott." Halle's tweet is a reference to a line in Missy Elliott's hit 2002 song "Work It," which says, "Don't I look like a Halle Berry...

The Video Vanguard Award has existed for as long as the MTV Video Music Awards have been around. At the first VMAs ceremony in 1984, David Bowie, Richard Lester and the Beatles were honored for their early, pioneering work in the pre-MTV days of the art form. The rest of the Eighties saw various pop heavyweights get their due, including Madonna, David Byrne and Michael Jackson, whose name was attached to the award the year after his sister Janet won it in 1990.

As someone who works in beauty, I come across new natural, organic and healthy beauty brands on a daily basis. Consumers are starting to care so much more about the ingredients they put on their skin (just like we care about the food we put in our bodies!) than they have before. And major retailers have been catching on.
Earlier this year, Bluemercury announced it would be added even more green beauty products to its lineup (which already featured good-for-you brands like Juice Beauty and Ren Skincare); Target added a transparent ingredient policy to encourage more green beauty; and Nordstrom...

Nightwing is a pretty badass character and I'm actually pretty excited to see what director Chris McKay (The Lego Ninjago Movie) is planning for it. One thing we know the film won't skimp out on is the action because one thing that I love about Nightwing is how great he is at kicking ass.
During an interview with CinemaBlend, the director talked about the movie and amped up the hype saying that the action is going to be so insane that an Academy Award for Best Stunts will have to be created so that it could win it.
"It's going to be unlike any other sort of superhero movie because it's not gonna rely on a lot of CG. This movie is going to win a stunt Academy Award. They're going to make a stunt Academy Award for this movie. I guarantee it. It's going to be insane."

Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of TV critics two questions and publishes the results on Tuesday. (The answer to the second, “What is the best show currently on TV?” can be found at the end of this post.)
This week’s question: What is the worst show you’ve ever reviewed? Why was it so bad? Did you waver over the grade or rating you gave it?
Daniel Fienberg (@TheFienPrint), The Hollywood Reporter
I’ve compared “Mixology” to contracting TV herpes, “Fuller House” to exhuming a bloating, gaseous corpse and called “Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders” the perfect xenophobic TV show for Trump’s America. Still, there’s little doubt that no show has ever made me so irate for its mere misguided existence than a little show called “H8r” on The CW. If you don’t remember “H8r” the premise was this: Mario Lopez drives his F-list celebrity...

The three were all smiles as they posed for a photo in Elliott’s trailer later tweeted by the “Work It” songstress. Bey wore a flowing denim poncho and tight black jeans — accessorizing the look with ankle-length black heels and silver-trimmed circular shades.

We didn't think it was possible to love Rihanna any more than we already do, but her Grammys appearance on Sunday night made it happen. Even though she didn't take home any awards during the night, that didn't stop her from having a good time. During the show, she proved she was a true legend when she traded her signature wine glass for a diamond-encrusted flask, but the best part was when she danced along to A Tribe Called Quest's performance. Not only were her facial expressions too funny, but she really got into it as she felt the beat. Work it, girl. Work, work, work, work, work, work.

Is this Missy Elliott's official comeback? The iconic rapper, who hasn't released a studio album in more than 10 years, dropped a new song titled "I'm Better" featuring Lamb. Additionally, Elliott released a music video to go with it that features plenty of backup dancers breaking it down in pools, warehouses and more. Although Elliott's two gifts were plenty for fans to remain satiated, the "Work It" performer dropped another news bomb on her fans: She's releasing a documentary and shared a bit of footage from it. "It's never just a record for me," Elliott says in the documentary. "It's never just making a hot record. I can do that in my sleep. But...
