Metal Wolf Chaos, Wolfenstein II, and Liberty or Death are some of the most patriotic video games you can play to celebrate this Fourth of July.
“America is a land of contrasts, but at the end of the day there’s no place else we’d rather live. Our country is founded on immutable principles of liberty, equality, and freedom that, at their best, create an atmosphere for individual excellence. And also: video games! The world of electronic entertainment started here, and many video games have tapped into our love of country as subject matter.”

For its first act, Till Death tries keeping things muted. S.K. Dale directs his cast to deliver lines as if they’re somewhere between whispering and talking; cinematographer Jamie Cairney shoots with the brand of ruby-tinged glossiness that the last decade has really leaned into as a visual shorthand for wealth and privilege; dialogue from screenwriter Jason Carvey funnels us bits of exposition.
Emma (Megan Fox) was collateral damage in a botched robbery 10 years ago. She married Mark (Eoin Macken), a lawyer involved in the case, just over a year later, which went south. She turned to having an affair with one of Mark’s colleagues, Tom (Aml Ameen), but now she’s decided to cut it off. She even turns down plans to see Tom the next day, and when he asks why, she breathes while facing away from him: “‘Cause it’s my anniversary.”

If you have even a passing acquaintance with Italian horror, the odds are pretty good that you’ve come across the work of Claudio Fragasso. Like many Italian auteurs, he’s gone by many names; perhaps you know him as Clyde Anderson, director of the Alice Cooper werewolf tale Monster Dog (1984), or Drake Floyd, helmer of the legendary Troll 2 (1990). There’s also his work as a writer on fellow Italian Bruno Mattei’s The Other Hell (’81) and Rats: Night of Terror (’84). But if you’ve been following Severin Films as of late (and for shame if you haven’t), Fragasso has his hands all over their latest trio of Blu-ray releases: Shocking Dark (’89), Zombi 3 (’88), and the one where he slips into the director’s chair again, Zombie 4: After Death (’89), a film light on imagination yet heavy on high octane zombie mowdowns.

The American Film Market was once all eye-catching gimmicks – these days it's robust, ruddy-cheeked, and focused on enterprise
There's a woman feeding a baby in the lobby of the Loews hotel in Santa Monica. Nothing unusual in that, you might think, except that this is the second day of the American Film Market, an event that doesn't generally conjure up images of swaddled newborns. With almost 8,000 attendees, from more than 70 countries, there was barely room to move around the hotel's atrium – but this year's Afm feels strikingly different from previous markets.
Gone are the hordes of almost-naked women in leopard-print bikinis, salesmen in Comic-Conesque fancy dress, and other eye-catching gimmicks. (Although, naturally, Ron Jeremy brought some scantily-clad babes with him when he appeared at a TromaDance press conference.) No, this year, the Afm has been robust, ruddy-cheeked, and all about the business.
Previous post-recession years haven't been so buoyant but the Afm's managing director,...

Among the highlights of this year's festival is a period drama with a time-travel twist. Think Merchant Ivory, only steampunk
The annual Sci Fi London festival, which is running until Monday at several venues in the capital, always throws up more than its fair share of offbeat genre treats. One of this year's highlights is a period brainteaser with an intriguing time-travel twist that has already picked up awards from the Boston science fiction film festival and the London independent film festival. Dimensions: A Line, A Loop, A Tangle of Threads also benefits from a plucky backstory surrounding its husband-and-wife creative team. Director Sloane U'Ren and writer/composer Ant Neely sold their Twickenham home to help finance the tiny £180,000 budget, and most of the film is shot at the riverside Cambridgeshire home of Neely's brother.

Word is spreading about the real paranormal activities that occurred during the making of The Stone: No Soul Unturned. Publicity stunt or not, when words like “Most Haunted” are being tossed about and cellphones are doing strange things, the question of whether or not Annesley Hall is truly haunted depends on who is being asked. And viewers will get a chance to find out for themselves when the DVD releases on August 23. There will be plenty of bonus material that explores the real history of this building and offer music videos at the same time.

Currently filming, is the debut feature from Crispian Mills and Chris Hopewell called A Fantastic Fear of Everything, starring Simon Pegg.
Here’s what the directors said: “Once upon a time, long, long, ago… I said I was going to make a movie. Very happy to finally be filming ‘A Fantastic Fear of Everything’ with such an amazing cast (Simon Pegg, Clair Higgins, Amara Karan, Paul Freeman, and Sheridan Smith), shooting at Shepperton studios. Will know film website shortly and promise to send some pictures and news soon.”
Here’s the long-winded plot synopsis:
Jack is alone for Christmas. A former children’s author, now turned crime novelist, Jack spends his nights pacing about, entrenched in his latest script ‘Decades of Death’ with only his gruesome research into Victorian serial killers for company.
A sensitive artist, who lacks even the simple courage to buy his own toilet paper, this research...

I have a confession to make. I am something of a Harry Potter apologist: because of my love of the original books it has often been difficult to see anything but the good things with the film adaptations (and even the later books), but I promise I’ll endeavour to remain as objective as possible here.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part One certainly has its flaws- and there were certainly those who will be disappointed- but what it lacks in frenetic pace, it more than makes up for in other areas, including an injection of artfulness that the previous film never seemed able to achieve despite its obvious aspirations. And there is a lot more to be said of the film than the perpetually regurgitated assertion that it is darker than the last film; a lazy critique at best that gives no insight into the merits of the film,...

The end is nigh for Harry Potter and the Cinematic Outings. Yes, this summer sees the boy wizard bowing out in the final part of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 (15th July). There won't be a dry eye in the house - probably.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 is released on Blu-ray and DVD from 11th April and to celebrate we've got a deleted scene and brand new featurette to show off.
Synopsis:
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” the seventh and final adventure in the Harry Potter film series, is a motion picture event, told in two full-length parts.
Part 1 begins as Harry, Ron and Hermione set out on their perilous mission to track down and destroy the Horcruxes—the keys to Voldemort’s immortality. On their own, without the guidance or protection of their professors, the three friends must now rely on one another more than ever.

With Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 coming out on DVD on April 15, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 hitting theaters this summer, on July 15, fans are starting to get very anxious for more details on the grand finale of the series. Some have been released, including these images, but not much about Part 2 is going live...yet. At least they are giving us something, though! Today marked the release of two new featurettes giving insight into two great scenes from The Deathly Hallows: Part 1.
The first describes the flashback to the story of the Three Brothers, who originally received the Deathly Hallows from Death himself. This was done in beautiful, sepia-toned stop-motion animation. One of the producers of the film, David Heyman, goes through the selection of Ben Hibon to create that portion of the film. Hibon was the animation director for the film Tokyo Zombie,...
