God. But sadly, not enough

It felt so rush. Not the emotional ending I was expecting. I needed more from that last scene between Victor and Benji. They deserve more.

I still love the show. I'm just sorry that they make it end this way.

I liked it
edvin-2231216 June 2022
Compared to my many disappointments of other show and book endings in recent months, I'm happy to say the finale left me satisfied and I liked it.

I'm dropping 2 starts mostly because I really wanted Victor to end up with the other guy.

Strange

Genuinely really bizarre for this show to again not even mention Simon when Victor was talking about his journey over the entire course of the show. I'm not sure why the production missed the mark on the origins of the show like this but for a series finale it feels very empty especially in tying it back to its pilot with Simon. Yes this is victors story. But Simon is a core element of it. I wish that they would've incorporated him back into the finale bringing it full circle. But otherwise even tho rushed, it's a great conclusion for most of the cast. I'll miss everyone involved with this beautiful show.

Disappointing by-the-numbers ending

Warning: Spoilers
The show was never a masterpiece but it was definitely worth a watch. It never managed to have a congruent rhythm and, as expected, the last season wasn't an exception. You could see everything coming miles away (Spoilers ahead): the "I don't want to go to college", the "I can't have just sex, I'm a good gay who looks for a relationship", the "I realize I need you but I see you kissing a decent guy (and decide to throw that out there when leaving for emotional manipulation). Luckily, Lake stayed true to herself even in this very narrow space. The others, not at all. Through most of them, the show tells kids everywhere: "The bravest thing you can do is NOT being single". It really had the chance to be outstanding and show them that it is OK to leave your high school love behind, learn from it and survive - that you don't have to hate each other, that big dramatic gestures are not necessary to prove love. My favorite scene of the season has to be when Lake quietly said "goodbye" to Felix. Other than that, I hardly fell any emotional engagement. I didn't care about the Benji - Victor relationship anymore. I couldn't care less about Raheem being mad. Nevertheless, most of the time we were stuck with these three. Mia and Victor were the second most important thing of season one but then they hardly shared screen time afterwards. Isabel and Victor falling out during season two was a huge part (and something rarely presented on a show about Latino families dealing with sexuality) but, as it was with Mia, they only shared one (very short) scene during this final season.

The creators knew they had limited time to wrap things up early on. They could have done something way more meaningful as Andrew Haigh did with the "looking" movie.

I know I'm not the target audience for the show anymore but I did like it anyway... I could see how it grew from the very awful first episodes with that cheesy 80s vibe. If it hadn't been for Hilson's acting skills playing Mia, I would have given up on it. I'm glad I didn't but I never expected that I would find myself rushing to YouTube after the end just to cleanse my palette watching the final scene of "Can't hardly wait", reminding myself there are good ways to use "Only you" to wrap things up.

Old skool

Warning: Spoilers
What this episode really drives home is that sometimes we move on from relationships when they're not really over and that when you're in a relationship bcoz you love them ,you gotta have their back during difficult times. They could've easily gone with Victor and Nick(or Raheem) but they did this on purpose .Bcoz Victor loved Benji and had clarity on that and love was too powerful an emotion to be overridden by flings.

Forced wrap-up
leeeturner16 June 2022
Fun characters and cute universe. Unfortunately a really rushed and forced wrap up especially when introducing a plethora of new characters over seasons 2-3. Lots of synthetic sentiment and melodramatic over-the-top character interactions and plot developments that felt unearned and lackluster.

Rushed ending; not as sentimental as I would have hoped..
DocZachary15 June 2022
The final season of the show, as you probably already know, was a short 8 episode season that did not provide enough time to have a proper closure and end to the storyline. It is a huge disgrace that Hulu cancelled a show that had immense potential and was growing into success - and it's truly a shame that they did not at least give 10 episodes this season or have a fourth season.

There's many things left unanswered. What's up with Felix's mom, Dawn, having memory problems that aren't really addressed? What's going to happen between Pilar and Felix? And most of all, what's going to happen with Benji and Victor - especially since Benji still told Victor he needs to focus on his own issues.

The final episode was not enough to provide a good closure to the show, and that is probably the fault of Hulu for canceling the show so early.

good but it needs more...

First of all Victor and Nick forever. At first I didn't like Nick but he grew on me and i wish they had stayed together. Other than that a subpar ending to an amazing story, it definitely could've used more.

Good, most satisfying ending
adotsey-3047117 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
For the most part, this was a satisfying ending to the series. I am glad they didn't drag it out while they were in college and just floundered for storylines like most high school shows.

This is an unpopular opinion but I think the most unsatisfying element of the ending is Victor and Benji ending up together. Shockingly, I think it would be most powerful if Victor chose himself and looked back on all his relationships as building blocks to discovering who he was. I just never felt the chemistry between V and B.

The most satisfying element was Felix's conclusion. That he is a member of the Salazar family is the most touching storyline of the series.

Expected poor ending of a rushed season
EntertainmentYordan19 June 2022
I'm so annoyed over the lazy writing, over the top drama and poor character development.

Seems to me like the storyline from the final season was meant to be split into two seasons but got cancelled early. The characters were falling in and out of love and there were so many plot holes. Glad I'll not be getting annoyed over Victor's poor life choices again.

Saw it coming... still sucked
baumansam-0444421 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Firstly, this season in general was rushed. New characters arrived to add "intrigue" and a "who will Victor end up with" storyline. From the very first episode of the season, it was established that he was going to end up with Benji. He still ends up with him because there clearly wasn't enough time to craft a better ending, or even a more fleshed out version of the ending we got. It was clear that they had outgrown each other and weren't good for each other, but the creators, writers, and directors weren't brave enough to just have them broken up and that be ok. In fact, we had to get a call back to Love, Simon, and get another Ferris Wheel scene, which also wasn't needed and felt like an ultimately unnecessary callback to the film. Most first love situations don't work out, and that is ok. Couldn't tell from this season though. This truly felt like a waste, especially since characters like Lake and Rahim are rushed into new relationships for the sake of giving them a happy ending, despite, again, not having enough time to truly flesh it out. There was good in the season, but ultimately an uninspired ending left a bad taste in my mouth.

Not terrible, but disapointing
mathfire-6442826 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
It might exaggeration on my side but the entire show was very good, but for me this last season has gone off the rails. I love the whole cast except for the annoying Benji, the final resolutions looks hasty for the most of the couples showed during the show, although the cast is very charismatic, I just personally didn't like Benji, you could find something better Victor.
