Warning: Spoilers
Director Monte Hellman and singer/actor James Taylor engage in a enjoyable 38-minute conversation about the cult road movie "Two-Lane Blacktop." Taylor admits that he had yet to see the film at the time the interview was done and reveals that he doesn't like looking at himself because it makes him self conscious. Hellman confesses that he prefers watching the audience over watching his own movies. Among the other subjects brought up was that the film was shot in sequence in the fall, the cast usually only got pages of script right before a specific scene was shot and often worked fifteen hours a day, Taylor demanded to read the complete script about halfway through the production, and Dennis Wilson was totally unself conscious in front of the camera. Moreover, Taylor relates a great story about how he almost killed a cameraman during the shooting of the ending. Recommended viewing for fans of the film.
