Authentic war story
runesnthistles8 April 2013
The Triangle of Death is not the normal run-of-the-mill Hollywood movie, nor is it made up of re-enactments. Instead, it is a carefully compiled and edited film made up of actual footage. All the Marines in this film were actually engaged in doing their jobs while this footage was shot. The battle scenes are real, the traumas are real, the men are real. When these Marines were deployed to Iraq, the first presidential election following the downfall of Saddam Hussein had not yet taken place. The lawlessness in this area of Iraq was so pervasive that it was not believed that the residents would be able to safely participate in the election. Through the exhaustive efforts of these Marines, many of the terrorists who were threatening the local Iraqis were found and arrested, enabling law-abiding Iraqis to exercise their right to vote for the first time.

Great Movie if i do say so myself
As a Marine Sergeant in the unit 2/24 H&S company during the time portrayed in 'The Triangle of Death,' I have a deeply personal connection to the documentary's subject matter. This film doesn't just capture the factual events we lived through; it encapsulates the essence of our shared experiences, the camaraderie, and the unbreakable bonds formed in the crucible of combat. It serves as both a visual and oral history of our unit's time in Iraq during 2004-05, offering audiences an authentic glimpse into the reality of war from the perspective of those who were there.

One of the standout aspects of the documentary is its portrayal of Tamba. His journey from a child soldier in Africa to becoming one of the most steadfast and reliable Marines I've ever had the honor to serve alongside is nothing short of remarkable. Tamba's story is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit, and it's a narrative that deserves its own spotlight. His experiences add a profound depth to the documentary, illustrating the diverse backgrounds and challenges faced by those who serve.

'The Triangle of Death' excels in its ability to convey the intensity, fear, and brotherhood that define a soldier's life in a war zone. It avoids sensationalism, presenting our stories with dignity and respect, and providing a platform for voices that are often unheard. This documentary is a crucial piece for anyone seeking to understand the complexities and personal narratives behind the news headlines of the Iraq War.

In conclusion, this film is a powerful tribute to the bravery, sacrifice, and humanity of those I served with. It accurately represents our unit's experiences in one of the most dangerous regions in Iraq, capturing the essence of what it means to be a Marine. For veterans, it offers a piece of our history. For others, it provides invaluable insights into the realities of military service and the enduring spirit of those who serve. Semper Fi, Sgt Fitz.
