- The film begins in Canada, travels to Banaras and eventually makes its way to Punjab. The Father Son duo of Dharam Singh and Gajodhar Singh (Dharmendra and Bobby Deol) are the biggest conmen in Banaras. Their happy go lucky existence involves drinking and pulling off hilarious cons on unsuspecting people. The only hitch in their perfect albeit notorious life arrives in the form of Paramveer Singh Dhillon (Sunny Deol). A brawny and honest NRI from Vancover, Paramveer lands up in Banaras claiming to be Gajodhar's elder brother separated at childhood. The duo willingly accepts Paramveer into their fold only to exploit his muscle power to serve their con games. Meanwhile Gajodhar falls in love with Saheba (Kulraj Randhawa), a beautiful Sardarni from Punjab. As their romance reaches its peak, her brothers arrive and forcibly take her away. Paramveer saves the day with a crazy plan to win the girl back for Gajodhar which leads them to the rustic heartlands of Punjab. - Vancouver-based Paramveer Singh Dhillon lives with his mother and is married to Caucasian Mary, and has two sons. The family comes to know that his father, Dharam, and younger brother, Gajodhar, are now living as con-men in Banaras, and with hopes of re-uniting the family, he decides to travel there. He does get to meet the duo but his hopes are dashed when Dharam refuses to accept him, while Gajodhar decides to use his muscular body for their goon-like activities, and to pursue his romance with Saheba Kaur Brar, whose brothers, including aspiring politician, Joginder, had beaten him, and forbidden him from seeing her again. - Paramvir Singh (Sunny Deol) is a Non-resident Indian (NRI) living happily with his Canadian wife Mary (Emma Brown Garett) along with his two kids Karam (Nikunj Pandey) and Veer (Raj) and his mother Mrs. Dhillon (Nafisa Ali) in Vancouver British Columbia Canada. Paramvir wants to visit India to connect his kids to their Indian roots, but Mary says that she does not like the Indian culture.
Dharam Singh (Dharmendra), is Paramvir's long lost dad who had left them by taking Gajodhar Singh (Bobby Deol), Paramvir's younger brother, with him to lead a criminal lifestyle. Once when an Indian woman and her husband, who's Canadian, comes to visit Mrs. Dhillon and see a picture of Dharam in their house, whom they recognize. The Canadian husband says that he met Dharam in Banaras and that he is a thief. When Paramvir finds out that his father and brother are in Banaras, his mother sends him straight off to bring them back.
When Paramvir reaches Banaras, he meets his brother and finds that he is a con man just like his father. Gajodhar cons Paramvir by taking 2000 Canadian dollars from him and giving him fake Indian currency notes in exchange. Paramvir tracks Gajodhar in a bar where he also meets his dad, Dharam, who refuses to acknowledge him as his son. A jeweler (Johnny Lever) shows up as well to take revenge on Gajodhar and Dharam for conning him out of jewels worth Rs 15 Lakhs from his shop. Paramvir backs them up in the brawl with the jeweler and helps them escape. Gajodhar wants to work with Paramvir as Paramvir can be their strongman, but Dharam still refuses.
Gajodhar and Dharam continue to get into sticky situations while executing their scams and Paramvir always arrives at the right time to rescue them from being caught or beaten up. Paramvir wants a partnership in their business.
Gajodhar has a crush on Saheba a Punjabi girl who is writing a book on Banaras. Saheba considers Gajodhar an illiterate buffoon and simply ignores him. Paramvir advises Gajodhar to tell the truth to Saheba from his heart. This works as Saheba is charmed by Gajodhar. Paramvir also advises Gajodhar to change his dressing style. Gajodhar saves Saheba from some goons who are harassing her and this is when Saheba starts to warm up to Gajodhar. Gajodhar goes on a date with Saheba (Kulraj Randhawa), a Punjabi author. But when Saheba's brothers find out about her relationship with Gajodhar, they go violent and take Saheba with them back to Punjab.
When Dharam sees that Gajodher is hopeless, he asks Paramvir to help, and acknowledges that he is his father, but he shouldn't tell Gajodhar about that. Dharam believes that he made a mistake by separating Gajodhar from his mother, and if he realizes the truth Gajodhar may hate Dharam and even leave him.
Paramvir and Gajodhar move to Punjab to get back his love. Saheba's elder brother Joginder Singh (Anupam Kher) and her other brothers Tejinder 'Jarnail' Singh Brar (Himanshu Malik), Gurmeet 'Billa' Singh Brar (Mukul Dev) & sister Poli Kaur Brar (Sucheta Khanna) want to marry her to an NRI. When they come to know that an NRI is coming they call him to their house. Actually, these two NRI's are Paramvir and Gajodhar, who uses an alias as Karamvir.
Joginder, after meeting both of them, decides that they would marry their sister to Paramvir, not to Gajodhar. After this Paramvir tries many ideas to get rejected by them, so that Saheba should get married to Gajodhar. Paramvir tries to project himself as a drunk and misbehaves with all the brothers. Turns out even Joginder's grandfather used to drink liquor in a bucket. Gajodhar reveals to Saheba that he has come to rescue her from her brothers.
Joginder is fighting the local elections against his rival Minty. Gajodhar is a professional conman and shares many tips with Joginder to outsmart his rival in front of the electorate. When Minty advertises that his well in the farm is giving out sweet water, Joginder advertises that his well in the farm is giving out liquor.
Meanwhile Poli has a crush on Gajodhar and has dreams of settling down in Canada. Gajodhar tries to run with Saheba, many times, but always gets into a serious problem and all the plans get failed. Then Dharam shows up at the last moment. Paramvir has to manage the situation as Dharam believes that Saheba is being married to Gajodhar, and also doesn't know that Gajodhar has been introduced as Karamvir to Joginder. As Gajodhar has impressed Joginder with his election tricks, Joginder tells Dharam that he wants to get Poli married to Gajodhar/Karamvir. Finally, Paramvir's wife also shows up and mistakes him thinking he is re-marrying.
Since Joginder and his brothers cannot understand English, they explain that Mary is their neighbor in Vancouver, whose husband ran away. She is in India looking for her absconding husband. Mary agrees to go along with the charade as she realizes that Dharam and Gajodhar are Paramvir's relatives.
One day Gajodhar learns Paramvir's kids are his nephews and Paramvir is his brother. Paramvir's mother had called Paramvir's phone and Gajodhar had picked it and found out the truth. The brothers have a tearful reunion and Gajodhar promises to never leave Dharam.
Then they all plan to run away but Saheba's brothers find out that they ran. They reach an old storage place. Joginder's rival, Minty (Puneet Issar) also reaches there. After Paramvir and Gajodhar save Saheba's family's life, they allow him to marry Saheba. They all go back to Canada with Paramvir and to his mother. At the end the entire family is reunited.
