Occasionally good moments, but overall not a success

I am sure that if you have come to find this little page here, you will know exactly what "2010 AVN Awards Show" stands for. Still just in case, during this ceremony the adult film industry honored their finest almost a decade ago now. This ceremony takes place every year, but at barely over 75 minutes, the 2010 edition must be among the shortest of them all. But definitely not among the worst. The director is once again Gary Miller, also like every year basically, and he is also one of the writers in this one, actually more writers than I expected given the running time. Also more hosts than I expected. Comedian Dave Attell was pretty good I thought, certainly among the show's highlights, especially with his opening stand-up comedy performance. As for the two female co-hosts, well they are adult film actresses, so I am not so surprised that I thought they were inferior to Attell. The stage is not their element. But it's alright. As for the show and especially winners, I cannot say that much as I don't really know any of the actors or performers. The one exception is Sasha Grey because she is almost the only one from the bunch who also has a mildly successful non-adult film career in terms of acting. She won an award early that night. And was nominated on other occasions too, also her film. And of course I know her because she is downright stunning, really beautiful. Her voice did sound a bit broken though that night. I am not sure if she was a bit sick or if this is her usual voice. It's not important anyway. Aside from her, it was a big night for parodies again and that happened many times already in the past. I find it a bit sad because as long as the best of the year are adult film remakes of known movies, then the adult film industry will always struggle to be taken seriously (no pun intended!). As for the music, I was a bit disappointed this time. I have seen other AVN Awards who delivered far better in that field. I mean Baby Bash isn't a failure, but by 2010 he already barely made the Top100 charts in America anymore and hasn't since, barely released anything in recent years for a while now. And the mid-show stage performance did not seem creative or artistic to me, just slutty sorry. So yes, obviously with this event you will hear many dirty jokes, many explicit references and also some graphic nudity, but come on you can impossibly be surprised by that given the subject. As for general awards show evaluation, I did like the brief inclusions of interviews with the winners after they got their award, although this was not essential. Only listening to the speech would have been okay too. I do think they left out some categories though and excluded them from the broadcast, such as the two supporting actor winners if I am not mistaken? I never like that honestly. Putting one category above another is never a good idea. Exclude these categories completely or show them to us. Don't just include them because the Oscars have them and then neglect them. Editing was also not always spot-on I'd say. I don't need no speeding-up when it comes to winners entering the stage. Overall, a tolerable awards show without any true greatness. Only worth seeing for big adult film fans who know all the people that are a part of this. I give it a thumbs-down. Also, on a final side-note I find it always baffling how big of a time gap there is between when these are held and when they are show. Back in 2010 it was a month, slightly under, and I could say "only" because I have seen some years when it was way longer.
