- Sara, 27 years, has her own mind and loves challenges. Having been at Essay Publications for over 3 years, Sara, a journalist covering European beat and conversant in many foreign languages, is offered a posting at the company's foreign office in Granada, Spain. Suddenly met with opposition to her overseas posting on the home front, Sara finds it hard to understand why her usually supportive parents would go against her wish to extend herself overseas. Her stepfather Imran manages to coax her out of her misery by showing the reason and great love of Juliana. Despite Sara's medical condition, Juliana and Imran finally decide to let their daughter pursuit her dreams overseas accompanied by her cousin Amy. However, Juliana still harbors a greater concern about a long kept secret while Sara's boyfriend Khairul is still at a lost with his girlfriend's decision. On their first stop in Spain, Sara and Amy have an eventful meet with Jose Rafael, where Jose is attracted by the intelligent Sara. Amy teases that they part like lovers at the bus station while she is also smitten by Jose's charm. On arrival at Granada, compared to a more structured work environment back home, Sara struggles to acclimate to the lassie-faire culture and come across a Muslim village in the countryside. At a NGO organization, she meets Natasha an old lady who is dedicated to help minority Muslim community. Jose suddenly turns up at a potluck event at the village and Sara is pleased to meet him again and they develop further understanding since they share the same passion for history and culture. Amy feels left out as she soon realizes Jose is more interested in Sara. Talking to Jose has further aroused Sara's interest in the Moorish heritage, especially the Alhambra Palace. Spurred on by Natasha, she decides to pursue the legend of 'The Lost Umrah' trail. Khairul suddenly turns up for a surprise visit in Spain and further complicates Sara's burgeoning relationship with Jose. The tense rivalry between the old and new boyfriend soon escalates to a brawl where Jose is injured while Khairul is left sulking in remorse. The incident deepens the affection between Sara and Jose while Amy empathizes with Khairul and starts to develop feelings for the unlucky lover. Khairul decides to go back to Singapore and is surprised to see Amy sending him off at the airport. They promise to keep in touch. Unfortunately, one day Sara drops unconscious on a trip to a ruin in the countryside. Her leukemia condition requests that she would need stem cell transplant from her close relatives. Juliana hastily makes the trip to Spain, ready to accept whatever fate has lined up for her. She meets Natasha at the hospital. Natasha is actually Sara's biological mother who has given up Sara as a young baby for adoption to Juliana. She had Sara out of wedlock due to forced liaison with her childhood friend Taufiq. She decided to break off her engagement with her fiancee Imran and opted to go overseas. The two mothers keep in contact via postcards in case Sara falls ill and needs bone marrow transplant from Natahsa. Both mothers decide to keep the secret from Sara, but unknowingly miss Jose observing from afar. Taufiq turns up suddenly at the mosque to see Imran. Taufiq decides to confess his past sin to Imran as he is dying from liver cancer. Imran finally understands the reason why Salma left him 28 years ago. Imran later comes to Spain and realizes that his ex-fiancee Salma is actually Natasha. He soon appreciates Juliana's intention and Natasha's sacrifices. Sara is alert by Jose about the existence of her biological mother. On further investigation, she knows the truth and initially feels anger towards Natasha for abandoning her as a baby. She is also saddened by Juliana's earlier lies about her true identity. However, after putting everything into perspective with Jose, she decides to stay ignorant, as she doesn't want to add on to her adopted parents' burden. However, Sara's condition worsens despite the operation. As part of her dying wishes, she finally get the chance to bring the family and her lover on a tour of the Alhambra to share her passion about the Lost Umrah project. She also gets the closure with her biological mother Natasha who happens to visit the castle on the same day. Blessed with the hands of both her parents, Sara fades away while Jose holds her tighter and breaks down in tears...
