Wow, this was surprising...
kimsey-000022 November 2010
A couple of months ago, I was watching Elvira's "Movie Macabre" from the 80's on hulu, and anyway I remember last Sunday night when I saw this thinking something like; Man... the way this was filmed sure looks modern for the 80's... and I don't remember the setup being like this...

And I remembered also on hulu watching a show called "The next Elvira" or something, and I said to myself, well if this was filmed now... is this the next Elvira...? She sure looks like Elvira, and acts, and talks like her... so given that... I didn't get it... so I came on here, and to my shock this was a 2010 series (rather than a late 80's rerun), and it IS Cassandra! That's awesome! Geez I have never seen a celeb who retained her feminine beauty like Elvira has, I mean... I have seen some who look *almost* like they used to, but this is the first time I've seen a celeb who still looks *exactly* like she did in every conceivable way... LOL... Man, I'm so glad it was her and not someone new - no one could ever replace the real Elvira on her own show.

Anyway, her wit can sure still make watching good/bad "B" movies better, and even the bad, bad "B" movies good, given the bursts of laughter that came to me right out of the blue while watching; one of my favs is the part where she speaks with the chars in the movie via phone etc... it's edited in such a way that it looks so realistic, a la "Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid" esquire. Another interesting aspect to the show, is finding out various "B" movies even an avid "B" movie fan has never heard of...

In short, it was just great to see this on the air again! Anyway... see you guys later! - Jimmy in N.GA

greatest Elvira movie collection
PeterBlues8 March 2017
there are many different Elvira VHS and DVD movie collections since the 1980's and on wards out there, but nothing beats this resurrection of movie macabre, not only is there frequent skits by the hostess throughout the movies which lacks in many other collections, but also a brand new feature with Elvira popping up in the corner of the screen during the movie is rolling making funny remarks on what's going on, the bits and jokes are sharper than ever before, and obviously the picture quality is better, the collection contains vintage science fiction and horror movies, and also for the first time a Christmas flick. a real treat, makes it hard to get used to watching movies without hosting afterwards.

A "10" for Elvira, a "1" for the movies she airs!

Warning: Spoilers
I love Elvira as a host, I just wish she aired better movies on her program. I can hardly stand watching them they're so bad. Maybe some people like watching B movies, but I think watching them is just a waste of life.

I find myself using my DVR to record this show, and then skipping through the movie itself to get to Elvira's host segments.

The only somewhat decent movie she's aired thus far was the original "Night of the Living Dead" which made for her first episode revival of "Elvira's Movie Macabre".

I know maybe it's always been Elvira's "thing" to watch old crappy movies, but I really feel like she's enough of a celebrity now that they should be able to broadcast better movies and not just ones that are in public domain, and as such, cost nothing to very little to play on TV.

Why can't she watch John Carpenter's "Halloween", "Friday the 13th" movies, or Hitchcock classics like "Psycho" or something? That'd be a whole hell of a lot more fun to watch.

I'll give the show a "10" because of Elvira but it deserves a "1" for the quality of movies she broadcasts.
