Drew Ford has spent the last few years of his life dedicated to bringing classic out of circulation comics and graphic novels back in print in beautiful restored editions. A fierce advocate for creators such as Sam Glanzman, Drew has brought back multiple books of his work, a graphic novel from David Michelinie, another graphic novel from ComicMix’s own Denny O’Neil, and many more. This was originally done through Dover Publications until Drew founded It’s Alive! Press, an imprint of Idw.
Drew’s latest project is bringing Family Man, by Jerome Charyn and Joe Staton, back in print through a Kickstarter campaign. You can view the campaign here.
I got the chance to interview Joe Staton this past weekend about Family Man.

The 31-year-old singer-songwriter - who tied the knot in 2011 - has provided an honest account of her relationship with Sam in a track that has leaked online.
The song 'Family Man' features the lyrics: "It's not always easy, being a family man. Baby, don't leave me, I'm just doing what I can to get by."
And Lily - who has two daughters, Ethel, five and four-year-old Marnie with her estranged husband - also accepts her own share of responsibility for their break-up.

Relatives of Joe McKnight, the former NFL player who was shot and killed Thursday in what investigators have described as a road rage altercation, say they are finding strength through prayer.

Apparently The Man in Black was just intrigued enough with Teddy's expanding memories that it was time to talk.
Or he figured since he was tied up and being beaten in the face anyway, maybe Westworld Season 1 Episode 8 was a good time to share. You know, there was a campfire and they were all cozy.
There were quite a few reveals during this hour, and I had no time to process, so be nice. I'm dancing on the edge!
Let's start out where we left of on Westworld Season 1 Episode 7, with the death of Theresa and the confirmation Bernard is a host.
Bernard: Lifelike, but not alive. Pain always exists in the mind; it's always imagined. So what's the difference between my pain and yours, between you and me?
Ford: This was the very question that consumed Arnold, filled him with guilt, eventually drove him mad. The answer always seemed obvious to me.

Chicago – In this year of morally unique relationship films (“Swiss Army Man”), add the recently released “Captain Fantastic” to the mix. The film, written and directed by Matt Ross, is like a fable of unintended consequences, where a father raises his children to live off the ‘grid,’ away from typical 2016 civilization.
The father in the film is Viggo Mortensen (“Eastern Promises”), and the situation complicates itself when the mother of the six children dies, leaving the father no choice but to bring them back into “civilization” to attend the funeral. Writer/director Matt Ross – who as an actor also portrays Gavin Belson on HBO’s “Silicon Valley” – combines anarchist political philosophy with the extreme survival skills of the family to illustrate a point about our modern society, mostly in the sense that despite all our current abilities to technically communicate with one another, we still remain separated.

Now, there will undoubtedly be endless commentary about the tediousness of the ‘Family Man Out For Revenge’ trope that is relentlessly rolled out every time an aging actor needs a career boost, but here’s the thing – inexplicably, it often works.
It worked for Liam Neeson with Taken, it worked for Keanu Reeves with John Wick. It even, sort of, worked for Kevin Costner in Three Days To Kill. For all its terrible, predictable flaws, it is possible for this well-worn narrative to succeed – given the right actor, with the right material. Will that be the case with I Am Wrath though? Based on the first trailer, the chances are slim.
In the case of I Am Wrath, John Travolta is the family man. He has a wife and adult daughter, and is just trying to get by. He returns from a trip/job interview, his wife Vivian (Rebecca De Mornay...

In eager anticipation for his new film High Chicago, which should finally see a commercial release later this year, so that audiences can see it, I had the pleasure of interviewing director and producer Alfons Adetuyi, who shared his inspiration for his first full length feature directorial effort. High Chicago tells the story of family man in a small Michigan town with big dreams, who literally takes a big gamble to fullfil them, and to ultimately provide for his family. Adetuyi, joined by his brothers Amos, Robert and Tom, founded the Canada-based Inner City Films in 1987. Ever since, he has directed and produced several critically acclaimed and award winning television series and...

Decklan Elias, respectively. As Emmanuel noted about a year ago, the SyFy network eventually settled on releasing Blood and Chrome as a web series, in ten 12-minute acts, instead of as a TV show. Well Vanessa already spilled the beans about The Kill Hole at this year's Black Harvest Film Festival in Chicago next month, but that's all good.
