Being a Beck movie I find it below average, almost giving it a 4. But it still has it moments. Not sure how to say but it have no flow and no excitement.

Beck: Haunted by the Past

After several months off work to recuperate protagonist Martin Beck returns to work with his team in the Stockholm police. The team's first case after his return involves the discovery of body in a river. It turns out he was a Danish criminal who was doing business in Sweden. When the police go to talk to his Swedish contacts they witness a confrontation with the Danes that leaves one man dead, the shooter escapes. The investigation will throw up various motives and suspects; not all of them particularly expected. Away from the case Martin has the usual surreal chat with his neighbour and meets his grandson's new girlfriend for the first time.

I thought this was a solid return. The central mystery was interesting; it kept be guessing till the end and provided to solid tense moments. The lighter moments are a lot of fun; especially the chat between Martin and his neighbour; he is hilarious. The cast, both regular and guest, is solid throughout. Overall a solid episode that fans of the series should enjoy; being self-contained, like other episodes in the series, it can also be enjoyed by casual viewers.

Too many leads

The story revolves around a number of coincidences that do not really lead to the same conclusion, but still comes in exactly the right moment. It will not be credible but it seems to be the pattern in the script for the latter films.
