Good historic/ biopic of a WWII French hero.
stuka2411 December 2011
This French film has a few well known French actors, an excellent reconstruction of the epoch of course, and a rather unlikely hero, which makes him more believable. He's got the best lines on all occasions, but is rather plump, not young, rather short, is only accompanied by his devoted sister (no woman/ love interest in the story). In short, this is not your classical Hollywood movie about a prison escape with Nicholas Cage :).

The political-judiciary system doesn't look very well in this movie, for the dice is cast beforehand. Pierre is even accused of being a Jew, by fake witness who end up being franc masons, unmasked publicly by bright Pierre, who defends himself like a lion. Our hero is aided by the masterful Jean-Claude Dauphin, well known in the French TV for he played the top notch savvy lawyer "Serge N'Guyen" in the TV series "Avocats & associés", a French "Law and order", also with many seasons. The "bad judge" is played by Didier Bénureau, also with a long career in cinema. One thing I liked is that we see Pierre having doubts, making mistakes, loosing hope. A human hero.

The film takes place mainly in the corridors of justice and is basically his trial, but it isn't slow due do a good script.

Enjoy!
