Antoinette Beumer and five other crew members were badly injured in an accident on set, when a scaffold of over 9 feet high collapsed. She ended up with a broken arm and a broken jaw. For a few scenes Beumer was replaced by Erik Van Looy, the director of the original Loft (2008) who was initially going to direct this remake as well. She made an amazingly quick recovery and resumed directorial duties after only a few weeks. Afterwards, she admitted that she could not see the differences between her scenes and the ones shot by van Looy.
Originally, Antoinette Beumer wanted to give her famous sister Famke Janssen a small role in the movie, but Janssen was unavailable due to scheduling conflicts.
Marwan Kenzari takes over the role of Filip/Tom from Matthias Schoenaerts who portrayed it in the original Dutch version and the American remake. Schoenaerts and Kenzari went on the star together in The Old Guard (2020).
This is the third movie in three years to feature Anna Drijver in an adulterous situation. The other movies are Bride Flight (2008) and Komt een vrouw bij de dokter (2009).
