Exclusive: Tribeca and Comedy Dynamics are reteaming for a slate of 10 stand-up comedy specials to be filmed at the Tribeca Film Festival, which runs June 9-20 in New York City.
The two entities partnered up in early 2020 to produce original stand-up comedy specials that were slated to be filmed at the annual fest. But after Covid restrictions took hold nationwide, they pivoted and evolved the indoor festival into an outdoor comedy drive-in set across the country at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. Tribeca x Comedy Dynamics Drive-In featured hourlong comedy sets from Ester Steinberg, Dave Helem, Erica Rhodes and Daniel Webb — the first set of drive-in comedy specials filmed in the midst of the pandemic.
Produced by Tribeca and Comedy Dynamics and directed by the latter’s founder and CEO, Brian Volk-Weiss, this month’s slate of specials is part of Tribeca’s expansion into new storytelling platforms and its...

A lot has happened to The Good Doctor‘s Claire Browne in the three-and-a-half seasons since we first met the surgical resident. She reconnected with her mentally ill mother Breeze, then lost her in a drunk-driving accident. Then she fell in love with her boss, Dr. Neil Melendez, who died of internal injuries suffered in a building collapse.
Suffice it to say, Dr. Browne has been through it, and she deserves to be happy. And even though reconnecting with her estranged father is a promising first step, his return comes with a pretty big asterisk.

A former co-star of The Good Doctor has lined up a pretty good new role: Nicholas Gonzalez has joined the cast of the upcoming NBC drama La Brea as a series regular, according to our sister site Deadline.
La Brea — which earned a series order back in January — kicks off with a massive sinkhole opening up in L.A., separating a mother (Justified‘s Natalie Zea) and son from her husband (The Night Shift‘s Eoin Macken) and daughter. “When part of the family find themselves in an unexplainable primeval world, alongside a disparate group of strangers, they must work...

Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist appears to have found Max’s workplace replacement: Harvey Guillén (What We Do in the Shadows) will recur during Season 2 of NBC’s musical dramedy as George, a new programmer at Sprq Point.
In the Season 1 finale, Max announced that he was moving on from Sprq Point to pursue other opportunities, so could George — who makes his debut in the Season 2 premiere, airing in 2021 — be filling Max’s spot on Zoey’s team? It sure would line up with the fact that George is “constantly hungering for Zoey’s (and his fellow coders’) approval,” per the official character description.

Channel 4 enjoyed a huge night at the BAFTA TV Awards on Friday, with the British broadcaster scooping six gongs and springing shocks in big-ticket categories.
By comparison, Channel 4 won only two prizes at last year’s ceremony, while it didn’t clinch a single award for an original show in 2018. This year, there were two awards each for Stath Lets Flats and The End Of The F***ing World.
The former, which will premiere on HBO Max in the U.S., beat Fleabag to best comedy. Stath Lets Flats creator and star Jamie Demetriou (who was a regular in Fleabag) also won best male performance in a comedy.
The End Of The F***ing World won best drama series, beating The Crown, and Naomi Ackie was named best supporting actress for her role as Bonnie in the Netflix co-production.

More than a month and a half into the 2019-20 TV season, ratings are still rolling in for shows that debuted in week one. And, not surprisingly, the numbers look a lot better than the underwhelming initial returns.
ABC on Monday released a batch of 35-day, multiplatform numbers for premiere week (along with a note that it will no longer share notes on same-day ratings going forward, other than for live events), and they show that a number of the network's premieres tripled or even quadrupled their initial performance. That jibes with figures from other networks: NBC has reported ...
