At the 2009 New York Asian Film Festival, directors Noboru Iguchi, Yoshihiro Nishimura and Tak Sakaguchi met and agreed to make a film together. Each director directed one third of the film with Sakaguchi directing the first part, Iguchi the second and Nishimura the third. A year later they finished work on the movie.
Although the movie was set in the summer, it was actually shot in February 2010 during several snowstorms snowing. The cast and crew had to endure the cold and the snow.
During the one shot take of Rin fighting everyone in the alley, sleet begins to fall. The sleet was not planned, but due to the short shooting schedule, the filmmakers decided to leave the sleet in the film even though the movie takes place in the summer.
