Traditionally Christianity is a religion of egalitarianism even encouraging socialist good works such as sharing your wealth with the poor. Today in the United States conservatism, Christianity, capitalism and the Republican party seem synonymous. This change came about in the twentieth century as Christian leaders discovered the power to influence public policy.—David Foss
