Let me be blunt. Season 2 stinks! All the charm and wit from season 1 is long gone, and all that is left is an empty shell. Sure it has a lot of the same themes and even the exact same plot points as season 1, but it just isn't the same. The characters aren't likable, and their decisions make no sense. Also, this final episode of season 2 isn't even about love. It is just a 30-minute epilogue for a relationship that was too forced. Let's be honest Marcus could've done a lot better. But hey, Darby is in it for less than a minute, which is better than nothing. But at this point, I will take what I can get. If you are interested in Good Black love stories, I would recommend Creed or Collateral Beauty. They tell a similar story in a much better way. As for Love Life, if they can't find a way to bring Darby back as the main character or at least a central character, then maybe it is time to let it go. Not everything needs to be a shared universe like the MCU. After all, you could always tell similar stories about love with a different title, and that doesn't have to be a bad thing. Every love story is different, so why try to make an anthology series where they are all lumped together? Shouldn't we embrace the diversity in our human experiences with all kinds of love? All I know for sure is that I missed Darby this season, and I feel cheated as Anna Kendrick did a lot of promoting for this second season only to have about 10 minutes of screen time. But hey, at least we got some fun interviews with Anna on late-night talks shows.
